Tweet contains a youtube video of Masaru being walked around before the presentation to Alina.

I know I'm biased - but I really think that Alina handles Masaru much more gently than the man from the Akita society walking her.

Also - poor Masaru seems a bit flustered by all the commotion.

Alina is being very gentle with Masaru. She has a very gentle, soft, calm energy. As sweet as that is she needs to transition to a more assertive demeanor with Masaru very soon. She has got to take control or Masaru will take just naturally assume that she (Masaru) is in charge. Watching Masaru playfully tackle the kid in the park was adorable (and clearly the kid loved it) but it stops being adorable when Masaru gets bigger and stronger. The only way Masaru will learn manners is if she is taught.

Ideally, Alina could channel Eteri's coaching persona for obedience training sessions. I'm not kidding. That confident, authoritative, no-nonsense, aura she projects is perfect for dog training. And clearly for training Olympic Champions.

She can still be sweet, soft and gentle with Masaru, she just needs that underlying 'Eteri-ness' to bring out whenever necessary. I have every faith that Alina can do this. And she can always hire a trainer who specializes in Akitas. Not to mention the grandmother could take Masaru to some beginning obedience classes while Alina trains. That will help grandmother cope with a stubborn Akita while Alina is out of the country competing.

There was one part in the park where it looked like Masaru was walking Alina though.
That looked like so much fun. Boundless energy bundled up in a fluffy package.

Alina will definitely have to "take the reins" though when it comes to crossing streets.

Looks like she is already in her uniform... Masaru is going along for exams too?

Excellent that she does not need last minute revisions! And still has the mood to walk Masaru and go on instagram. She is going to ace it!

I agree Masaru needs to be Eteri'd! This dog could become too much to handle for tiny Alina.

I‘ve wanted to reply to this thread for some time now and now it‘s finally about something I actually know so: Alina‘s being so gentle with her doggo because

A) she just got it
B) that‘s just her nature

But really, she just needs some training in a good dog obedience school and she‘ll handle it well. Being of a gentle and calm nature doesn‘t mean you can‘t have a dog that actually behaves. You don‘t have to become an Eteri to do so, you just need some basic rules and then it‘ll work. I‘ve got a dog, too and I‘d never consider handling him the way Eteri handles her student (not to say that she does it badly but just that it‘s not my way of working) and my dog‘s still well behaved. (most of the time. At least if there‘s no cat involved😂) Eteri‘s very, very strict which isn‘t necessarily a bad thing but rather the right attitude if you want to raise aspiring champions. But I can‘t see Alina becoming this way, that’s just not her nature and I also don‘t believe she wants Masaru to become the next Olympic Champion in dog obedience.😂

But I agree, Alina‘s got some serious workload on her tiny shoulders already, Masaru could prove to be a real challenge. School, exams, figure skating, training, being an OGM, interviews, TV appearances, commercials, the rivalry against her teammate, her other pets and now a puppy she needs to train, too. That‘s... a bit much for a 16 year old. Honestly, how does she even manage all this without crumbling? I already feel overworked with my schoolwork and I‘m not an Olympic Champion in figure skating who needs to train half the day😂

^ This! I agree with you 100%.

Alina and Masaru will be fine. From that Japanese TV, we can see that Alina is already teaching somethings to Masaru. In the park, she stopped Masaru and said: Do not run, do not run.
And at the apartment, she was teaching Masaru commands. “Sit, give paw”.
She said that she has been watching videos about how to raise an Akita and she has a book about Akita Inu too.
Also, her mother said that they talked to the man from Akita Preservation Society (sorry, I forgot his name) and they will be in touch with the office in Moscow.
I’m sure that Masaru’s behave and Alina’s teaching skills will not be the biggest problem.

It's not her apartment, it's advertising material of company which presented the apartment. And it's not clear from the text - is layout like on photo or not, with finishing it's or not... :scratch2:

It’s a same apartment..
And yes, It’s finished, just without furniture and accessories

четырехкомнатной квартиры с отделкой премиум-класса в Ижевске

It looks really nice. I like in particular the view. Is it a river or a lake?

Same here. My google search showed 2 possibilities: it can be either the Izhevsk Reservoir, which is a reservoir of water that looks pretty much like a lake, or the Izh River. For me it looks more like a lake, so I would choose the first one

Anyway the appartment looks really gorgeous and comfortable

She mentioned that she wants to teach Masaru, even teach her to protect her, and the Akita Inu Society is going to help her get settled with the dog. All this teaching will involve being firm with Masaru.

I assume this help from the Moscow Akita Office means they may provide her with tips and knowledge on how to behave with Masaru, even recommend a trainer if one is needed.

So far Alina has been a consummate owner, she is walking the dog and interacting with her constantly. And she is super happy with Masaru too as we can see from her many pictures.

She has a gentle nature, but Masaru has a gentle nature also, impressive for a young pup, she is a great ambassador for the Akita breed, seeing that gentle dog would make me want to have one.

Remember Alina critique of Sabina’s performance in Izhevsk during her masterclass event? Alina is super gentle and sweet but I have a feeling that if they are called upon her disciplinarian abilities would come to the forefront.

If she isn’t yet she is going to be soon, dogs pick up the meaning of words that interest them, positive or negative, quite quickly (like food, going out, or the dreaded bath time).
