There are some though competitors, but if Alinka will be in her best shape, I don't think it will be really hard for her to win. As the main competition...in Helsinki would probably be Kostner (due to her high PCS) and maybe Sakamoto..Imo Konstantinova did not deserve 2 GP spots to begin with and she is no threat for Alinka

The idea is that I have a bad feeling with this music choice.... and the small part of choreo that we saw in the video doesn't look convincing either

Maybe it will turn out to be a great program for her and we only have some misconceptions based primarily on the fact that the music is a warhorse and we don't like warhorses. It's a possibility.

I am disappointed, but not surprised by the music choice. I guess that's what you get when you are not the coach's favorite, when the choreographer is so "creative" that recycles overused skating music and when you don't have voice (i won't believe any inside gossip until an official media says the opposite). And yes, i am one of many that wanted new coaches for her.
This was the year for being original and experiment with different choices, but no, they just decided to give her two warhorses. Alina deserves better.

And just her is famous as Carmen, not only in 1988, but also in the whole ice show. So maybe, maybe, it is wasy how to show her who is empress of the ice now... GP Assignments: i like that she’s not doing back to back events and the newly minted Cup of Finland is a great choice (she won China last year so [emoji256]is on her side). She got Russia like she wanted, and she wasn’t there last year, so YAY for her.

SP and FS: Carmen is my favorite Opera, like Dom Quixote was my favorite ballet, so I’m a happy camper. I’m sure she’ll make me love Phantom (I don’t like the play at all) because Alina can probably make me love Barry Manilow. Other thing I liked about both choices: they have clear characters she can interpret, for someone as young as she is that is a clear plus. It will allow her to further develop her interpretation abilities by giving her something clear to work with. Both very feminine characters, another plus that suits Alina’s very girly girl personality.

Like Adam says there’s a reason warhorses are warhorses, they work.

Alina will ride them all the way to the top.

Hell, we deserve better.

Sigh. For all we know, Alina begged to skate to it. Maybe it has been her lifelong dream to relive Carmen, (why?) or she promised a sick relative she would skate to it, (again, why?) or someone is holding a chinchilla hostage unless she skates to this music. :scowl:

This is when Eteri should assert her 'absolute' power and tell her that it's too bad about the chinchilla but Carmen is not a good idea this season (or any season). Just say 'no' to Carmen.
