They have to - her little sister is the inspiration for the HUGE dance craze sweeping through Japan.
Is Alina alone in Japan or with her grandmother?
She can't travel alone she's a minor.

She‘s 16 already, so she can travel without relatives. Many students do that if they‘re doing an exchange year/month/whatever. And she‘s an athlete and a mature girl so I guess she doesn‘t need parents to supervise her there.
Alone, in the sense of no relatives
Most of the time she travel with her granny.

This photo, somehow, I found it very beautiful.
I hope next summer Alina will find some time to make a show like this from Mariah. So that some "common" people in local rink somewhere unknown enjoy her skate.

I always loved the tanos and rippons, even when everyone was saying they were overused so yeah, I don‘t quite get that. If you don‘t do any tanos at all, isn‘t the position with the arms tucked in overused? Same logic. :think:

I don‘t know what to think of that, I‘m so used to seeing the swan with the tights over the boots. But with Diana‘s dress (and basically every dress that isn‘t a tutu) I think this looks waaay better. But it’s the same as with the rippons, do it the way you want, Alina and it will be fine!
The reason people get angry over tanos/rippons and not the arms tucked down position is because the arms being tucked in is how jumps were made to be. This is the correct and true technique for a jump. Adding a tano or rippon is an adaptation of jump technique and is a special feature to add to your jumps. Doing a special feature on all your jumps can be looked at as overuse of the feature to the point where the feature doesn’t seem special anymore.
Although, I don’t think Alina overuses rippons especially in the short, where she only does one. Her rippon is very pretty as well so I am happy she’s keeping it despite it not being a bullet.
Yes, her grandmother is there. Although i have noticed that Alina always stays separate from her grandma. I suppose it is a teen thing, seeking independence. But i really hope she will learn more to value the people who really care about her.

I think maybe Grandma is also shy and don't like the media attention? I recall one video where they were coming out of the airport, and there was a swarm of media, cameras and fans, and Grandma immediately stepped back and walked off quickly to the side.

i think her grandma and mom are just prefer to avoid the cameras.
It s not about the media. They had trips, visits to the temples dinners... in all InstaStories, Alina stays separate from her grandma.

The grandma is there. She was in some of the instagram stories of other skaters. She was walking with Raf yesterday

Hm. Thank you for your explanation but I‘m sorry, I don‘t understand this at all. Jumps were ”made to be“ like this, yes, but when was that? How many years ago? If we look at figure skating now, it‘s nothing like it was when it was first developed. A sport is constantly developing. Figure skating was originally ”meant to be“ just like what the name suggests: about skating figures on the ice. Jumps and spins and everything were added later. So, should we just go back to that just because that‘s how the sport had been originally? And I really don‘t see much of a difference. Then so what, one puts the hand above the head while jumping, the other doesn‘t. It‘s not like it looks ugly. Yes, some skaters aren‘t really good at doing tanos but it‘s the judges faults that they still reward them.
I also don‘t think Alina is overdoing tanos or rippons, not at all. (Not that I‘d notice, though, as I‘ve said I don‘t mind them
) It‘s like with the backloading. Some people hate it, others don‘t. Now we have a rule that makes it virtually senseless to do full backloading - because of one little girl who could do things others couldn’t and won. Zagitova-rule. Mhm. More like Zagitova rules instead. 
Just to be clear, I‘m not trying to attack you with this post or anything, just stating my opinion. I‘m grateful for your explanation even though it doesn‘t make much sense to me why people could feel this way. But that‘s okay, I guess, we‘re all different and stuff.
