Alina Zagitova

that's my specialty.

Thumbs Up Received 4,676
Thumbs Up Given 16,187

You need to update your totals - I just gave you a thumbs up!

BTW - is there a "thumbs down" anywhere????

I know there are some people elsewhere in this forum that I would like to "ding".
I'd better be careful what I wish for --- I know there would be some coming my way too!

I wouldn't mind a "thumbs down" tab...but I think the potential for drama on GS will be 100% higher with it :laugh:

Egoshina, thank you for the great translation of this very interesting and quite personal interview! I would be even more thankful if you post here the link with the original text, could you do this? It would be great!

Meanwhile I came across an English article that is actually the final part of this long interview and the last two questions have not been translated by egoshina (yet?) The link is http://fs-gossips.com/alina-zagitov...emain-in-sport-you-can-learn-a-lot-from-them/

:D

Yes, the end of the article on your link concides with the one I've been translating, just one bit missing (see below). And here's the link to the original https://vk.com/alina_queen_of_ice?w=wall-164963490_6575
Overall, it seems a compilation of several interviews but some bits were definitely new.

I like how level headed she is. She seems to get the teenage rebellion out of her system earlier than other teenagers :).

As for the new short - I like it! It's raw and a bit rough around the ages (yet!), but it is different from what she was doing before and this year is perfect for experiments.

Q. Your little sister also does figure skating. Would you like her to follow your steps?
A. I don’t want Sabina to copy my life. Our parents never set one of us as an example to another, as everyone should just be themselves. Sabina has her own life. Probably she will find something she likes. At the moment she does figure skating but she has a different personality. She is more stubborn than me. I think she won’t be listening to trainers as I do, but will be doing only what she wants herself. My parents and I joke that Sabina should learn foreign languages and travel with me as an interpreter. But this is our plans, but it is for Sabina to choose.

Q. You are now in 10th grade. What is your favourite subject at school?
A. I go to Sambo 70 school, I go to school once a week, and the rest of the time I study on my own or with teachers. My favourite subject is maths. After 9th grade I had to sit exams. When I was reminded about it after Worlds I was like “What? Exams? So soon?”. Of course I studied, I was taking textbooks with me, but nonetheless to pass 4 exams was a hard work.

Alina's live. She was picking up make up for tomorrow's show, said hi to Mariah and Moris (in English to Mariah). She said that people often ask her how's Masaru rather than how's she doing, and give lots of presents to Masaru. She missed Masaru. She likes Japan but wants to go home already. She said that she wanted to learn English and would find a tutor upon return. As she now talks more with skaters from different countries.

:thank:
So Alinka wants to make an account for Masaru on social media...that's really good news :hap36:

I Just reply with

THIS

Or

THIS

Usually gets the point across

I am copying part of a post from Zounger that was in the Russian Ladies thread.

What I like, in a sense, from the Sambo choreographies is that they are risky and somehow difficult. If you are not clean they look bad. If Alina falls on her first combo, then she has to rush the spin, will miss the glass shatering and the first half is ruined. If she falls on the 2A she will ruin her "ballerina box" spin moment. By the way this one cut, I found quite beautiful as a consept, it's like trasferring in the programm somewhere else in time and place, something that happens in parallel with the other cuts and not in order.

I like this analysis very much.
In fact, even in Alina's OGM winning DQ - I found that moving the combo to the solo 3lz broke the rhythm of the program slightly. (A small price to pay for one of the gutsiest moves I have ever seen)

Also - great analysis on the "ballerina box" cut. I love it!

Story of my life too..when I'm not at home, and reading GS from my phone. And as soon as I arrive home...Thumbs up, thumbs up, thumbs up for every post that I liked :thumbsup:

I wish you a great and productive trip dear lusk8, and we will wait for your full-time comeback. Your positive, thoughtful posts are like sunshines on Alinka's fanfest :luv17::ghug:

Thank you!! I’m country hoping, 8 countries in all (sounds like an “Amazing Race” season), 2 down already, 6 more to go.

I wish the app would let us give thumbs ups, Alina’s fanfest deserves plenty of them.

I’m so glad she is having major fun on her trip, way more fun then me I’m afraid [emoji23]. I hope Shoma is a gentleman and throws down the contest to let her win, if he whips up a quad it will be an uneven fight. I’m impressed with Alina for going for this, I’m assuming they had a choice to take part in it since several skaters didn’t, go Alina!!!

So, returned from my parents cottage, done some real work (not my everyday office work, hooray :) ) I immediately see struggle for Alina's short program. I summarized it in other thread this way:

"POTO is so ordinary, her choreography may be generic, I wish something non-traditional for her..."

POTO done non-traditional way, choreography anything but generic...

"This is so weird, why not make it usual way, with standard choreography..."

I really see how many people make their personnal issue into that, even if they have to contradict what they said earlier. That doesn't mean nobody is allowed to object anything but the amount of sour grapes is higher than I would ever thought :)

As for me: this is still raw version done in hard conditions (light, smaller rink) and no doubt there is still much work ahaead, but overally I like it pretty much. Choreo is interresting, transitions are harder than I've ever seen, jumps are solid, one mistake at opening jump pass can't change it, and the entrance into 2A and timing of 3F (with rippons :luv17:) are absolutely great. I think this can provide Alina with many "masarus" :agree:

Thank you.

I noticed that the youtube video has been updated with English subtitles for all of Alina's conversation.
So when people watch it - make sure you switch the English subtitles on (well - those like me who can't understand Russian ;))

Oh my gosh! She must have at least a thousand dollars worth of Shiseido stuff there! I was just looking at their products at a department store last night. She's so cute!

Seems I might be a bit too liberal with the thumbs up
in the past year (I joined last August) I've...
received 8,222
and given 31,099

Is her 3F ticking all the boxes for +5? I believe yes...?!

What's the deal with her Ina Bauer? People are complaining the position is not held long enough. She does a spread eagle and the final Ina Bauer position is to highlight one accent of the music. I don't get why she should hold the position longer? It would not match the music at all?!

While I see your point, I think the issue is her team tends to use too many moves to accent the music, when sometimes using just one move has more impact.
