Guys, do you think that Alina would show off her 3Lz-3Lo-3Lo-3Lo-3Lo... combo at the jumping competition against Shoma? On the one hand I am afraid, it's really risky, on the other hand it would be so cool to see it again.

Well, if Shoma throws a 3A-4T at her, she may have to do 3Lz-3Lo-3Lo-3Lo-3Lo-3Lo

Either that, or call up Sasha Trusova to "pinch-hit" for her ---- Sasha can bring the "smackdown" with a couple of quads of her own.

Just watched the POTO SP and I must say the black swan had much better choreo. The POTO SP choreo somehow seems jampacked and I wish Danill will change it so that the steps actually fit in with the music.

Also do you think they will keep the blue dress or change it? I don't think it really suits with the music somehow...

No - in the video chat posted a couple of pages ago, she said that there are no costumes yet for either the SP or LP.

Is her 3F ticking all the boxes for +5? I believe yes...?!

What's the deal with her Ina Bauer? People are complaining the position is not held long enough. She does a spread eagle and the final Ina Bauer position is to highlight one accent of the music. I don't get why she should hold the position longer? It would not match the music at all?!

I think Alina creates such lovely positions, but often the choreography doesn't let her hold those positions.
It is one of her great strengths and I would like to see it held and highlighted more.

In the ice shows she has done this year, I can really see how lovely her skating is (when she skated with Kaetlyn & Evgenia, when she skates with Shoma)

And this "issue" is one of the things the naysayers always bash her with - and it is not even her fault.

BTW - I hope you are right about the +5 GOE (she did get nice height and the flow out was great which I think are the criteria???)

I just reviewed the video again for the jump - and I noticed that the performance was from 7-28 (I thought it was her most recent)
This was probably the first time she performed it - so I am even more impressed. :agree:

Thank you!! I’m country hoping, 8 countries in all (sounds like an “Amazing Race” season), 2 down already, 6 more to go.

I wish the app would let us give thumbs ups, Alina’s fanfest deserves plenty of them.

I’m so glad she is having major fun on her trip, way more fun then me I’m afraid [emoji23]. I hope Shoma is a gentleman and throws down the contest to let her win, if he whips up a quad it will be an uneven fight. I’m impressed with Alina for going for this, I’m assuming they had a choice to take part in it since several skaters didn’t, go Alina!!!
.
Have you seen any "roadblocks" or "detours" --- look - Mirna is screaming at Colin and Boston Rob is cheating as usual.

Wow - 8 countries - that really IS a road trip. Too bad it has to be for work - takes all the fun out of it.

Can you "pad" your expense accout and sneak in a side trip to Russia or Japan???

Alina never, and I mean NEVER passes up a challenge - even if she doesn't understand the rules (cough) curling (cough)

[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] I’ve encountered several road blocks, and my Boss refuses to volunteer for any of them so it’s all me. Good thing is, my international roaming package finally kicked in and I have internet access.

I’ll be in Russia, and Finland btw (alas, too early to catch Alina’s first season GP). Sadly won’t have so much time in Moscow (more on other Russian cities).

Being in the same time zone as Alina will be cool though, hope I’m there when she launches that Masaru instagram account she’s been talking about,

Waiting on baited breath for news of the Alina vs Shoma jumping showdown. Also known as the 1.59m jumping match (or maybe she is taller than him now). If there’s anyone out there who knows about competing with quad jumping people it’s Alina, she’ll 3Lo him out of the water.

Can we send Danill a DM or email, because I don't think he realizes people don't like his jam pack choreo sometimes...

Ok, finally watched the whole Phantom of the Opera SP. Only constant office companion supervision prevented me from watching it the minute my roaming kicked in.

I loved all the reviews here!!

My own two cents; Eteri and Daniil are not kidding when they design these programs. Her short doesn’t have a plan B (let alone a plan C), it is go big or go home. If she musses the 3Ltz combo she can’t make up for it and, as we’ve seen from before, the judges are going to hammer down her 3Ltz GOE because of the messed up landing flow.

As some may remember I have post traumatic stress disorder from POTO, being a New Yorker with many out of town relatives it’s hard not to, so I was dreading that music cut like the plague. But Alina worked her sweet magic on me, maybe I’m part chinchilla and she tamed me, because I actually got goosebumps watching her skate. First time I watched I thought the music cut at the end was kind of abrupt (the others were fine, the first ones quite unusual in a nice way), but when I watched it again it didn’t bother me as much.

Her spins and her step sequence were super great, she is spinning better than ever and with beautiful lines. I’m sure they’ll change things in the steps, or she will, as that’s were I can see more room for improvement. Alina is never a skater that just glides there, her programs are always packed, but she works with this beautifully. She has amazing body control and great sense of timing, her arm movements are a work of art. I have a feeling she’ll grow this program and own it even more as she evolves her performance.

I applaud her for doing (and trying to do) her signature combo at every showing of it, this shows her commitment and also her respect for the audience. She seems to be spinning faster (she was always a fast spinner but now she seems even more so). I hope she keeps that 2A entry because it’s beautiful and crazy hard, just like she is.

I liked this last hairstyle quite a lot, and since Alina seems to prefer to skate with hair tied not to get in her face it might be a great choice and a change from the classic ballet bun.

I’m happy with the first showing of POTO, it still has space for growth but she is showing a different performing side. She is invested in it, showing great emotion, beautiful lines and jumping like a champ. I hope we get to see another recording of it from Japan (like from Osaka say) to get a different perspective.

I’m excited for the upcoming season and so curious to see Carmen now.

My own two cents...

Like! Great to have you back. Missed you!

Thanks for replying re: the live instagram video. Grateful too for all the translators and sub-titlers here and on Youtube - finally the English speakers got more than “I love sushi”. LOL.

I think I watched POTO more than DQ now... Just kidding, but I spent the whole day trying hard to love this program and trying to understand what they are trying to do and achieve.
My first impression was: I don’t like it.I hate Danil, Eteri, Sergey (poor Sergey) for doing this. But my 14th impression was: The program itself it’s unusual. Different. And daring. I liked the beginning with the 3Lz(3Lo) moment, then the flying camel spin. So far so good. About the SS: I liked the choreography overall even though I think they still have to polish a bit (or a lot).
I loved the 2A entry + the music, one of the highlights of the program. And I liked the Biellmann’s “ ballerina box” moment as a concept BUT it doesn’t fit at all with the program at that point. For me, the program starts to go wrong from this moment. Only 15 seconds, one element and it’s already changing to a whole different thing... no flow. But then, again, I love the 3F (just give the girl a +5 GOE already), Ina Bauer and her last spin is just... wow, she is more flexible than before.
Alina grow up so much and improved a lot. Beautiful facial expression and body movements. If it wasn’t the music cuts problem... it would have been her best program so far. I’m so proud of her and we all can see how inspiring and hardworking girl she is. C’mon, Daniil, don’t fail me now.
Starting a praying circle for Carmen to be GOOD.

Here’s to Alina hiring that tutor and answering more questions from English speaking fans.

I love hearing Russian, don’t mind at all non-native English speakers using their own native languages and getting translators at events.

But there’s no denying that she has a big international fan base, she gets many questions in English on her broadcasts, and since YouTube can’t translate videos in Russian in any manageable form it will be nice to hear her answer some of the questions she gets from international fans. Just like she did with the sushi question, that was a cute moment.

It is one of her great strengths and I would like to see it held and highlighted more.

Her lines and extensions are good but it's so hard to remember them because her choreography is so badly jam-packed that she is forced to rush through all her movements.

I don't think Danil is a good choreographer.

Love that competive streak in her. Think she asked what is the highest score for the fan game? And managed to achieve it on the next try. How did she do that?! Baby boss indeed!

Alina is a born competitor and super disciplined too, that was such a great moment.

I just realized something: she did the fan game and the “wishing board writing” on TV, from other skater’s videos we have seen that she was at the fan game with them but when they went to the “wishing board” she wasn’t with them. Wonder when they pulled her aside from the group to shoot her segments, it was probably during that same day.

Agree with everything, except that I liked the program since the begining. I think they are trying to make a program that is not too complex (like her previous sp) and not too obvious or one note (like dq), but still pretty, with the usual sound effects (eteri style) and all. This kind of program is easier for her to relate with (the musical/movie are extremely popular with a great story) and express her emotions. Now she finally seems to understand what she's doing and the timing is also a a lot less frenetic than usual. She's letting herself feel the emotions and the mood changes because the program is a good vehicle for that.
