Alina Zagitova

September 16th at 1:30PM local Tokyo time Nittele TV is going to broadcast a full showing of The Ice, it's supposed to be the whole show (as in Masaru Dance, I hope, would love to see Alina performing crowd control and teaching dance moves).

Anyway, I here's hoping some kind, loving, Japanese fan uploads the whole show, would be so cool to watch it in full.
Cool. I love how Japan Open will also be recorded on full HD.

This season we have a few more Seniors doing 3Lz+3Lo, this is what I have so far:
-Alina, our girl is keeping it real with her signature combo,
- Bradie, did already this season in a minor competition
- Marin, did in practice so maybe it’ll be in her layout
- Yuna Shiraiwa, performed one in a minor international competition

These are all I remember. Anyone else you guys can think of?

I think Liza T might have one planned also.

Nastya Gubanova too [emoji178] no JGP assignment, probably will do some challengers and fight for the host spot at Rostelecom and RusNats.

Unless the isu expands from maximum spots from 3 to 4 or more and puts more value on the rankings and in 2 or 3 years Russia could have 6 of the top 10 in senior ladies and 10 of the top 20 forcing real good skaters like Gubanova and many others to find citizenship outside of Russia in order to have a chance at a worlds let alone an olympics. How is anyone going to get by Alina, Zhenya and Liza this year? Liza is skating great again because the pressure is off, She won worlds 2015 1 year after olympics and could do the same again in 2019. She did great at open skates according to the experts.

Speaking of Liza I was reading an interview of her this morning and that horrible Russian journalist Elena V asked her who was she rooting for in the Olympics and if it was Carolina who she trains with and she said she rooted for Zhenya who accordingbto Liza deserved the gold. No mention of Alina. Not even she skated well. smh. I swear to God I wake up everyday in a good mood then I read something like this disrespect towards Alina Zagitova Olympic champion from a compatriot of all people and I get annoyed. Lol at me! Zagitova and Medvedeva both skated very well in the Olympics but what separated them was that Alna did a more complex and tougher short and long program which is why she won the gold medal. That gave Alina the edge and thats why she took the risk of tougher backloaded programs and thats why Zhenya wanted Alina left in juniors 1 more year. She knew what was coming and she knew Alina could beat her. Zhenya was right. Yay! :agree:

I think Alina can have another great season if she can handle expectations and master her new programs. But she wont be sneaking up on ge competitio this year they will be ready for her. Good luck to Alina this season.

One of the most important Questions of this season is how will the judges treat Olympic champion Alina Zagitova? Will they respect her as olympic champion and score accordingly or will they treat her as a 16 year old who they resent for backloading last season leading to her great scores? What do you think about this?

I think with ISU rule change, Alina's OGM has been devalued tremendously. Whoever proposed the change initially? A girl won the game and then someone immediately changed the game rule, making the victory not like a victory.

This will be one very long year if I start get riled up by reading comments on the way other skaters are behaving. I'm already starting to be predisposed against people to whom I was neutral before and some I even enjoy watching skate. That's not right for me, I don't want to be like that and I don't want to start a long season full of hate and contempt.

That's not Alina's way, what sets her apart from many others, besides her great skating, is that she is a kind and considerate person, always embracing those that come near her and showing her great personality. So I'll honor that to the best of my abilities.

Since this is her fanfest I don't need to defend her here, this is her safe place, "the past is set in stone but the future is not yet written" (as someone probably said already, at least in a TV Show). Her achievements are hers forever and will never mean any less than what they are: a near sweep in her first Senior Season, a total sweep in major titles on her first and only Junior season and an individual Olympic Gold medal (with a Silver Team one as companion piece). So yeah, that's worth like a whole bunch of a lot. Can't be matched at all until the next Olympics when someone will have a chance to mesh a Senior and an Olympic Career into the same year, and that someone might just be her all over again, even if it somehow isn't, she already been there and done that.

Let's wait till the season gets officially under way and we have some actual competition stuff to mull over to make assessments, meanwhile jump up onto the competition thread (like I'm doing) to see that walks in the park are just as hard to come by as one might imagine they'd be. Makes Alina's past achievements look even more wonderful btw.

First of all, I'm no longer a young boy, and for my life I was a fan of many athletes, everything began with the Soviet national hockey and figure skating team, then I also began to follow Formula 1, NHL, HFL and there were new favorite sportsmens - Juan Pablo Montoya, Alex Ovechkin, Steve Yzerman, Colin Kaepernick, Tom Brady and some figure skaters ...they are all good guys, but there was always something wrong))) For me ,Alina is 100% such an athlete whom I want to support and cheering, and not only because she is a perfect athlete, but also because we all know what kind of person she is. I know she's still young and everything can change, but I hope that this does not happen, it is important for me that such people as Alina still existed in sport and in life.
Do you know how haters on sports.ru are called Alinka fans ? Zagitova fan  and I am for 100% Zagitova fan

How do you figure that?

Not directing this at you, but I swear some critics (like Christine Brennan) think that Alina is the only one who got a 10% bonus because she put ALL of her jumps in the second half. Her bonus advantage was on 2 jumps (0-7 Alina vs 2-5 for Evgenia and Kaetlyn). Furthermore IIRC at Europeans her bonus was a 1 jump advantage because Evgenia added a triple combo in the second half and was 1-6.

I don't think the rule changed because of Alina (although I like calling in the "Zagitova Rule"), but because of the Juniors coming up the ranks that were doing it more and more.

Alina should feel honored that she MAY be the only senior skater to do a fully backloaded LP.

Welcome to the Dark Side!

I think some of this "mouthiness" is people seeking adulation on social media.
Bad manners and rudeness is seen as a badge of honor now.

Just remember that at least in our case there is an actaul basis for the resentment. A trash-talker, shade-thrower or poor sport.

It's not like the so-called "fans" who HATE on someone simply because that person beat their favorite. (Tara Lipinski, Adelina Sotnikova)

Believe it or not, someone once sent a letter to my local newspaper insulting Evgeny Plushenko because he was "ruining artistry" in FS!!!!
And they actually signed the letter and stated that they were a grammar school teacher.
What a nasty attitude from someone that is molding children's minds.

Following an article on Tara Lipinski in PEOPLE, someone wrote that Tara was "classless" and Michelle was "all class".
I don't know about you, but to me the only "classless" person in this situation is the one that wrote the letter!

End of my rant for today.

I don't think it has been devalued, on the contrary, I think the fact that the rules were changed after Alinka won prove that people were scared that she will be intangible in the future season. And this is only a praise for her courage and athleticism. And anyway, she still has a very difficult layout and beautiful transitions, plus she improved a lot her artistry and charisma, so she has everything she needs to be at the top this season, too.

I became a fan of Alina's after seeing her LP at Cup of China (actually DURING the LP).

I had never seen her before and did not know of her accomplishments in Juniors.

I didn't know her personality, her love of animals, etc...., but I gravitated towards her immediately.

Even during the Olympics - she was a mystery - just part of the "Battle of the Russians"

That she is IMHO one of the most sincere, thoughtful, respectful (etc...) young athletes on the planet is WONDERFUL!!!!

Look at how natural she was on her many Japan TV appearences. She doesn't need to put on a "persona" - people like her because she is just being herself.
Whether she was ???? over "Fake Hanyu", confused on the rules of curling, or adamantly refusing to give up on the obstacle course slalom.

Her treatment of her fans (and especially the young ones). It's all about them - not her.
No need to have "sycophants" following her every thought on twitter.

I hope nothing in her life ever causes her to become cynical.

I AM ZAGI-BOT!!!!

In my opinion, Alina single handedly caused the ISU to change the rule. That is unfortunate and reflects the reality. Maybe it is partly because Alina is Russian.

So many beautiful memories of moments that we enjoyed and commented together. :luv17: We are all Zagi B O T's and we are proud of it :ghug:

Truth. Sad but true.

I don't think her gold is devalued. She won it under the system at valid at the time.

The rule change may be in her advantage, cause we saw what happens and how easily can these programs fall apart. I mean, it she was hella impressive at Europeans and Olympics... but...

After a rule change and seeing her at shows, which showed that can is capable of gliding effortlessly around the ice and hold pose for more than split of a second... I was hoping we could see more of that in her programs. In current state, these are yet another cluttered programs with too many movements for sake of "transitions". And sometimes it looks as if she is falling out of the position or cannot get into it.

I don't mind Carmen music, though it's been done to death, hopefully she can polish it as she did with her Don Quixote program. But maybe... throw some things out, please?

Hey I'm happy to be a Zagitova fan, but I'm a Wall-E kinda Zagitova fan, very kind and will even help a cockroach find shelter from the storm.

Since I cry at Disney Animation films it is only fitting that I should be a fan of Alina, one of the kindest spirits to ever grace a skating court. She should start that trend going, backloading good feelings and acts of kindness.

I remember in one of her periscopes, from 31.12, she gets home with her Dad and Sabina from visiting her Grandparents to get some Christmas gifts and her Mom (off camera) opens the door and starts talking to the girls that Santa came with the Snow Maiden and left them some gifts at the family tree (which they proceed to open). And I thought to myself, her Mom is so kind, talking like that to the kids, it warmed my heart a bit, like something from a long lost Christmas movie.

Anyway, Alina's kindness is a testament to her parents and grandparents. I'm happy to see her happy and meeting up with skaters that treat her with kindness like on "The Ice" (among other shows, but this one, just on full group value, was awesome).
