Alina Zagitova

I think it's a chance! we have our own interest,
if we introduce you to Eteri, we will have a lot of exclusive news :yes2:
this is of course a difficult task, she looks like a fortress that is not easy to conquer ))
so take your suitcase and go to Bratislava to Nepela, it's not far from Prague

You should start a bussiness as a matchmaker

Pretty sure RusNats 2019 > Olympics. Tuktamysheva with 3A, Trusova and Shcherbakova with quads, 3Lz+3Lo being flung around like snowflakes in a Russian winter, and RusFed backing Medvedeva hard. Alina will need the skate of her life to defend her title, but I believe she has it in her.

..

Some of you are having trouble with the basic concept of Fan Fests. Positivity. This is your place to talk positively about Alina without having to explain yourself. When you bring other skaters or coaches into it to insult them you really derail the intention of this type of thread.

The Edge is the place for debate. Fan Fests are places for gushing.

If you can't keep it positive then maybe Fan Fests are not the place for you. The board has lots of other places to discuss skaters without the need to be positive.

Like I said before, she needs to remove/cut down all distraction, e.g. commercial, Japan media etc and start from ground zero. I know somebody is going to say I must have watched too much Rocky type of movie....And my answer is YES!

Eteri said —
Of course it offends me, sportsmen change coaches - it's normal, a girl wants to try something new-it's normal.
the most important thing is how a she leaves, it's sad but true ,but you have to for yourself, not for me- find the strength to say goodbye

What is wrong with what Eteri said? Nothing. Did people get upset by this?

Alina has the best fan fest. Just going back and reread the last day or two posts and people offered so much information and opinion and it was a pleasure to read it even if we don't agree all the time.

ISU needs to up their online update game, but then again they were discussing pen drives vs CDs at the congress [emoji23][emoji23]

Anyway that hasn’t been updated in ages, I bet someone just ticks the competition boxes.

Saw a program at US Classic and wanted to know what that skater was skating to, went to check the ISU bio and only old info.

Hope before the GPs start they update these pages.

This blatant disrespect from the isu against Zagitova as well as the rule changes to stop her back loading program that won her the olympc gold medal would make me if I was Alina and her family very upset. She is nothing but class. The same cannot be said of the isu

Is it about the official ISU page? I think this is fine. They stated her victories correctly above and just added her additional silver team medal below and forgot to add “also“ in front.

Have to admit I’m pretty curious to see what Alina’s competition layout will be for both the SP and the FS.

SP only the last jumping pass will get bonus. For now that’s her 3F.

FS only the last 3 jumping passes will have bonus. Harder to guess her layout (for me at least) since we’ve only seen it once in a not ideal situation. Some of the men are expected to do as 3 last passes: Combo 1+Combo 2+Single Jump, one of the most ambitious layouts possible and it looks like no one will perform 3 combos as last 3 passes.

What do you guys think?

I think SP will be what we have seen already.
3Lz-3Lo 2A 3F

FS - will probably be what was attempted at test skate
(except 3T combo in 2nd half - not 3Lo)

2A 3Lz-3Lo 3S 2A
3Lz-3T 3F-2T-2Lo 3F

I think I got the order of the jumps right?

Yikes - I'm so nervous for her. Very ambitious program and so soon after the Test Skates.

I also think that we won't see three combos at the end, there will be one backup single jump. Maybe only when there won't be anything to lose, we will see Alina doing three combos in the bonus part.

Please do not use the FF to rant about coaches, organizations, ISU rules etc. The FF is to celebrate and discuss the skater. You are more than welcome to discuss ISU's new rule in the Edge.

Thanks for this wonderfully comprehensive recap of jumps and combos.

That’ll be super ambitious indeed, wouldn’t expect anything else from her team.

I’m a bit nervous too but seeing Lombardia I was a little bit relieved. Aliev had the test skates from hell and he already did better in Lombardia (with issues but miles removed from test skates) so I expect Alina to do better too.

Actually I expect her to show an improvement on a curve, let’s call this CS the first dot on that curve.

3 combos at the end will be the ultimate risky layout, I don’t think we will see it soon either. But if someone will do it I’d peg Alina to be among them eventually.

Her stamina is not top yet but she has an amazing one, so as she builds it up she’ll be able to push the bar a little further.

Yes - better to work the "kinks" out now than when the Grand Prix starts.

I'm still so nervous :drama:

"Serenity Now ---- Serenity Now"

And not screaming it as Frank Costanza was doing by the end [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] damn I love that episode. “Serenity now, insanity later”.

Alina wished for calmness, so I’ll have what she’s having.

Definitely. And I think that maybe during time she would swap 3Lz-3Lo with 3Lz-3T.

I don't think she'll ever do this layout at all.
Remember that even with backloading she had 3S, 3Lz, 3F, 2A as the final jumps - no combos.
Except, of course, at the Olympics  - but those solo jumps allowed her to "improvise" and put the combo later.

Not enough reward for the HUGE risk.

I would be surprised if anyone did this layout.
