Alina Zagitova

I remember that she had a similar problem when she came to JGP Final in a last minute because she forget her parent's consent with her.
Also similar proplem Efimova/Korovin had. Alisa has Finlandian citizenship and they don't need this kind of paper for travelling but Russian goverment asked her this and she didn't have it

I'm pretty skeptical of the official reason. Any Russian want to add some clarity.

Did Alina even leave Moscow? I don't how things work in Russia, but if she didn't even leave Russia then some Russian official didn't let her leave because of improper paperwork. Is that correct to assume? I've only traveled from the US and between western European countries, leaving was never a problem.

How many flights are there to Bratislava from Moscow? Being delayed to clear up some paperwork is one thing, and withdrawing from competition is another.

Alina didn't leave Moscow. It appears that she arrived at the airport and then wasn't let to get on a plane because of error in her permission to take a child abroad. Since her parents both live in a defferent city and state service in Russia isn't very fast she obviously isn't able to do anything about this situation in a span of 24 hrs and thus has to withdraw from the competition.:(

Yes, let's all calm down. It could be anything. Maybe Alina needs more time to prepare. Maybe Alina's passport had problems. Maybe Masaru is getting skating lessons from Eteri and needs her owner to stay in Moscow hold her paw. Whatever it is, I'm sure that Alina is fine and will have a great season.

You were right. Passport.

Well, this is bizarre. So she didn't have issues on Slovakia, but her own country? Maybe I can't fully comprehend the extent of bureaucracy in Russia, but the Olympic champion(not some random person) got grounded by some low level bureaucrat, really?
Add in the fact that her Dad seems just as confused, I just can't imagine her parents weren't the first people she called. I'm surprised Eteri didn't burn down the airport. Can you imagine a fight between airport officials and Eteri? My money is on Eteri.

Honestly, this just strains credulity(not calling Alina a liar, btw). Figure skating is an international competition and all of Eteri's skaters are under 16, whatever these documents are I'm assuming someone besides the figure skaters or their parents review the documents to make sure everything is in order.

Anyhow, let's hope this is just a small bump in a long season.

That's right. She departed from Crystal with her coaches, went to airport, returned back, then chopped a big bag of onions and took a photo with suitcases for an instastory. Because why would you say that you have a "boots problem" when you can be truly extra?

Haha I needed this. Seriously the number of conspiracy theorists on this forum blows my mind. Why believe the straightforward explanation backed up by all evidence when you can make up your own dramatic narrative and scream it repeatedly from the highest hill...

Btw, this user from the other forum had a good explanation of the documents needed: https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/th...-must-be-fall-2018.104380/page-4#post-5413521

It is obviously a more complex situation than most people here seem to believe, and clearly not something that can be fixed in a few hours with Alina's parents in a different city.

Glad to hear that Alina isn’t injured. I would give her the benefit of the doubt in this situation!

Is "Crystal" Eteri's subgroup in Sambo? I've seen that word thrown around a few times.

I’m never one to doubt the depths of any bureaucracy (in any country), and I’ve lived in 14 different ones throughout my life so believe me I was unable to board my share of planes, trains, boats and zeppelins for an array of different reasons.

I’m sad this oversight, which I would never blame a minor for (no matter how well schooled in traveling they are), is keeping Alina from a first performance in the competitive season. She was looking forward to it and it would have been great.

But, in the absence of Hermione’s time shifter, she’ll have to move on from this experience and look forward to the next one.

She’s is healthy, ready and will move on to skate another day. Take this time to continue her preparations and go on Alina.

To the awesome posters here I thank you for holding the fort down and giving me many posts to enjoy. Your humor is amazing!!!

And I don't even want to comment on the reason☺[emoji85].
On the question of the connections to Bratislava, i think they usually go to Vienna (and there are several flights a day from Moscow to Vienna) and then they take a shuttle from Vienna to Bratislava which is a short way.

If you didn't want to comment on the reason....
why did you even comment about not wanting to comment?

Maybe you should become her travel agent.

PS - I hope you (or TPTB) don't remove your post this time.
Otherwise mine will look like its directed at the wrong person.

I see that madison is back with more b#*!&*t

The speculations around this passport thing just sounds like people are wishing there's something else more serious hidden behind! yikes :rolleye:

Japan Open is in 2 weeks, that's not too far (even tho i already made my plans this weekend to make sure i wouldn't miss her performances ). With all the competitions until then, we certainly won't be bored.

taylorpowers23: Is Alina Zagitova still competing?

tanjaflade: @taylorpowers23 No, she was not allowed to leave the country as a minor because a document was missing.

schwab228: did you speak with a russian athlete/coach about it or are you repeating only the presstext of the Russfed?

tanjaflade: @schwab228 I am on site in Bratislava and I spoke to people on site.

schwab228: hmm ok...sounds still unbelievable. It´s not the first time she travels abroad....anyway thanks for the answer.

tanjaflade: @schwab228 It is definitely true. Probably the necessary document had expired and she hadn't noticed. She was at the airport in Moscow.

according to unconfirmed reports, the name of the customs officer, who did not release Alina from Russia - E.Tarasov
