Alina Zagitova

Hope so. If she scores lower than the juniors I'm gonna riot LoL.

As long as she does well enough in SP to place in top 3 and keep herself in contention.
Can't really compare one competition with another - different judges, different technical panel, etc....

She just needs not to score lower than the Juniors at Russian Nationals
Cuz then she'll actually be skating against them!

Not ignorant. I should have clarified.

74.74 is Trusova's WR. No seniors have gotten close. Not sure if it seniors skating badly, or conservative judging, or they're just that good, but Eteri's über-juniors hold all the WRs at the moment. For Alina to take back her place as WR holder, she'll need to beat that.

Thank you.

I happened to see it a few minutes after I posted it when on the Russian Ladies thread.

For me, the perfect place for Alina to regain her WR status will be at Worlds.

I am curious what she will get for GOE on her Triple Flip (if executed perfectly)

Also her 2A with the difficult entry. 2A was one of lower GOE jumps last year.

Last year, her single 3F scored very well, but I believe she had the same entrance into 2A and her GOE on that jump was always around +1. That might change with the new GOE bullets though.

Last season she had the back charlotte spiral into the split jump into the bracket turn and then into the 2A. In the beginning of the season she was performing only the Charlotte spiral into the 2A, but she was not consistent and they decided to change it.
I think the GOE on the flip will be really good maybe +3/+4 and I’m so looking forward to see it. Not sure about her 2A, but maybe she will get a higher GOE than last season because I think her 2A looks better now, or at least, she is definitely more comfortable doing it now.

I was thinking also that her 2A looked more secure.
So I was thinking of better GOE with the entrance and also a better looking 2A itself.

I believe at Olympics SP Johnny Weir said she got all +3 GOE on the triple flip.

I really don't know what it takes to get a +5 under the new scores.
For example....
What do they consider "good height"? (one of the "bullets" that has to be met for a +4,+5)
If she qualifies for that, I think it could eventually score +5.

Interesting to note that judges have been giving out more level 3 step sequences to top skaters.

Alina will need to break the über-junior WRs before Nationals first. But it would be great to see her breaking them again at Worlds.

Uh-oh. That could be seen as a challenge to "Tiny Boss".

She may be so focused that she breaks EVERY record at Russian Nationals!!!!

Yeah I’m very curious to see how the level 3 step sequence bug will carry into the GP. Or better said if it will.

Maybe now Eteri “everything and the kitchen sink” approach will pay out big time.

Curious...

Those crazy gazillion twists and turns and .001 sec spirals that I whine about all the time....

Well they COULD help squeak out that extra point or so needed for a title!

:laugh2: I'll put this out here: every time I see Sasha being called Tiny Boss, I think of the boss in video games and imagine that she is the last obstacle Alina has to face on her way to the podium. Which is terrible, because I like Sasha and her skating and her quads and I think she'll do great things, but that nickname!

nobody got even close to 74.74

Ondrej Nepela Trophy: 1st place Rika KIHIRA got 70.79 2nd place Elizabet TURSYNBAEVA got 69.99
Autumn Classic Canada: 1st place Evgenya Medvedeva got 70.98 2nd place Bradie TENNELL got 69.26

we will have to wait for Nebelhorn Trophy :)

Ironically “Tiny Boss” is always the final Boss you have to overcome because that makes it even scarier. Alina has to Rittberger her way past Sasha while she jumps around with her huge quads menacingly :D

Considering that Alina is the reigning Russian (and incidentally Olympic) champion, it's Sasha who needs to fight all the way through to the top and beat the boss at the end.

...on the other hand, you can never be sure it's not you who is the villain, right? 💀

Let the strongest win :hap57:

For sure Sasha (Alena, Anna) is the one who needs to fight all the way to the top but Alina (Zhenya, Sotskova, ..) must fight even harder to stay there. When you are novice, there is no big pressure, you just can and you want to surprice, but when you are there you must fight every day to prove again and again you still belong there, its always new day and every succes give you confidence but more pressure on your back too. Russian nationals will be one big sport war for sure. This competition this year and in following years will be almost stronger than ECH even WCH, and only three girls can succes. The strongest will won and I believe Alina will be there. :)

Yup, the very same. You will come to love that sequence that makes Alina appear as she is "paid by the move" and not "by the hour".

Well but there is hope, Satoko got level 4 for her FS step sequence at US Classic (go check that out), you know how she is the spirals queen.

BTW happiest moment of my recent life was seeing "The Ice" again this past week with Alina making a spiral alongside Mirai and Satoko, and looking amazing while doing it.

Do you think Alina's SP can beat 74.74?

Of course she can, she's the reigning Olympic Champion, so if she'll be consistent and receive similar PCS as last year, she can go well above that score.

Also Kihira and Tukt did not skate clean their SP, so that explains their scores.

Yes - I watched that again too!

Bringing some scoring perspective to thread, or at lease I hope.

We can't really compare GPs and CS scoring (for better or worse) and the Junior circuit is now in GP land.

That said last take the SP:

- Sasha's PCS was 30.68 and TES was 44.06 (from BV of 33.18)
- Zhenya's Autumn Classic PCS was 34.20 and her TES was 36.78 (from BV of 32.05) - and that was far, far, removed from her best potential, she can better both her scores

In BV they were not so far apart, and Zhenya's PCS on a so, so day (let's say that) was already close to 4 points higher. And Zhenya's numbers are from a CS and the first outing of her program, so she gets more brownie points for if being this way.

Now bringing this around to Alina (our fanfest case in point), still using past season scores because we lack current ones:

- SP from Oly, BV was 34.97 actual TES 45.30 and PCS was 37.62 (big PCS buffer here and no TES loss).
- FP from Oly BV was 66.01, actual TES was 83.06, and PCS was 75.02 (Sacha's recent FP from JGP had a BV of 78.11 and actual TES of 86.26 with a PCS of 61.44), Alina's worst FP (at Worlds) she had a PCS of 69.87. So, again, big PCS deserved booster for Alina and her BV "disadvantage" can be largely shorten on actual realized TES.

I expect her PCS to make up any BV (and even her potential TES to do a large part of the job already) between her and the Juniors for this whole year, with room to spare. We also need to take into consideration that her TES should also be very high even if her BV isn't as high. And it should all deservedly be so.
