Alina Zagitova

Alina and Daniil would make a great Ice Dance team, maybe she can get him back from retirement.

Here’s Daniil at it back in the day (check out the twizzle sequence, so like the one he did with Alina)

Side note: their blades are so close together during this routine I got scared just looking at it. I know Ice Dance blades are shorter and all that but still...

I don’t think it’s reprehensible for an employed 27 year old single man to live at home with his mother, but I do think it’s odd.

Both of my brothers moved back home with our parents after they both lost their jobs a couple of years ago. In a few months later after they found new jobs, they moved into an apartment together. Living on your own is seen as a necessary step in becoming independent.

Hello everyone, i just want to reply on topic where Daniil lives and why, that we can close this topic.
There no such a thing in Russia as rent apartment in a rental building. People live with parents until they can afford/ready to buy, or will rent from someone who has additional property.
Recently, Daniil bought his own apartment near his mother.

This is the only Madoka Alina I recognize.

Tights half pulled over skates or it doesn't count!

[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] I was going to make a joke about tights inside boots too

But from the original poster’s story it seems that the kids swarmed all over her either way. It’s supposed to be a 3 part thing (2 unrecognizable costumes plus one everyone can tell who it is but it apparently went different with Alina)

Wow - so Daniil skated Singles and Ice Dance back in the day.
I wonder if he did both at the same time, or switched from one to another?

Did they recognize her in all the costumes or not at all?

Hmmmmm....

I guess in their zeal to "diss" Alina when they compared her to Daniil, the TSL boys failed to disclose that Daniil was a COMPETITIVE Ice Dancer.

FAKE NEWS!!!!!!!!

My timeline is a little sketchy on this but I think he was a Single Skater first then moved on to Ice Dance.

Don’t know it it matters but since Ice Dancers don’t jump I’m not sure how training for both disciplines at once go. Would it be easier or would you loose crispness and consistency on your jumps on the single skate?

Saturday morning when this airs we will know for sure but my guess is: they didn’t recognize her on the first costume (probably not Madoka my guess) and recognized her as Madoka (maybe her second costume).

They seem to think (from the text) that something unprecedented happened (the show does this stunt with other skaters too from time to time). Maybe her being recognized on the first outing would be more amazing, right?

I don't know. Offhand, the only skater I remember doing 2 disciplines at the same time was Kyoko Ina (but she was a Pairs skater, not Ice Dance).
That was 1995 US Nationals, and I remember it because she skated to Swan Lake and Dick Button made his famous comment
"Not enough Swan in that Swan Lake" :drama:

Is this going to be available to watch online like "Carnival On Ice", or will we have to hope for youtube videos.

[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] you gotta love Dick Button, best grumpy comments ever.

That was an impressive feat by Kyoko regardless, because juggling two disciplines is probably super hard.

What's really funny is that someone else referenced Kyoko Ina in another thread about Grand Prix medals!
Her ears must be burning tonight.

I bet it will be available on YouTube, kind Japanese souls always feed us in this fandom.

But just in case they don’t I’ll try to record it too and will find a way to share it here if it doesn’t surface before (which it thankfully usually does, Japan fans are super fast).

Apparently, Alina and Daniil were training gliding and ended up by doing the twizzles.

Daniil in figure skating since he was four years old.
In 2007 he finished third in the Russian Junior Championship , he was supposed to compete at the Junior World Championships,
but was injured while training. Due to injury at the age of 18, he moved from single skating to ice dance.
For several years, his partner on the ice was Ksenia Korobkova , together they won two international trophies .
At the same time, Daniil's father died, and he began to support the family himself. He ended his career,
began coaching and performing in the show of Ilya Averbukh: first in group , and then with small solo parts.
Since the end of 2014 has become part of the team Eteri Tutberidze
