Alina Zagitova

:otopic:
Little OT. I wasn't posting much last weekend. Yesterday october the 28th we were celebrating 100 years since the declaration of independence from Austria-Hungary and the creation of the Republic of Czechoslovakia (since 1993 we are divided into two states of Czechs and Slovaks, but who cares :) ). There was a graphic work on the facade of our National museum with some key moments from our history since then, pretty interresting from artistic view: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZY8a2E6lv8

Also, october the 28th is my father's birthday, two good reasons for celebration :party2:

Sometimes my motto is "carpe diem", why not to tell people something about my fatherland :)

For not being so much OT, wonderful autumn picture of Alina, no need to look for her :)

I visited Prague 16 years ago and am going again this December, of which I am very excited! Thanks for the video!

For keeping it on topic. I am debating with myself whether I should watch Alina live or only after finding out the scores. I hope (am sure!) our girl can keep the momentum going and slay in Finland but 5% of me is really scared.

I was scared before Nebelhorn and intended to interrupt the watching when Alina came on the ice before FP, but then I couldn't resist. I've said to myself "Alina is just young fragile girl and yet she still can cope with much bigger pressure, so be a man and holdfast." And the joy when she skated so perfectly was double as high then :)

You are right! We cannot afford to be feeble when Alina is expected to show strength :). I checked the schedule, I will be at work for the short but I am sure can sneak out in the meeting room and watch it, and I'm ok for the long. I will be on the plane for gala, hopefully I will manage to sort out my internet access on the plane...

Hey! Hope you don't mind one more here. I have been lurking for some time and finally decided to get an account so I could join you guys here. :)

Alina is my favorite skater for sure! I loved her the 1st time I saw her, she is incredible! She is also the one who has really gotten me into figure skating. Growing up I watched the ladies figure skating during the Olympics only and when they changed how they scored... well, let's just say in the 2010 Olympics the only thing I watched was curling (if I watched in 2006 (I really can't remember) it was for Sasha Cohen). XD In the 2014 Olympics Yulia Lipnitskaya got me interested again in watching figure skating at the Olympics and then I saw Alina this year and WOW! For the 1st time I am watching other competitions and am following a skater like this. She's incredible! Because of her I have watched other skaters and have become a fan of several others too, but Alina will always have a special place in my heart that no other can replace. And besides being a great skater she is a great person. She's so sweet and kind! And I really identify with her shyness and love for animals. <3 She's so cute with Masaru! <3 And, oh, did I mention she's incredible? :D

P.S. Thank you, flanker for linking the hide youtube comments extension. It's awesome. :)

Welcome to the fold!!!

We are happy to have you here with us.

Thanks for this wonderful history lesson. Prague is high on my bucket list of places to visit, everyone I know who's been there says the same thing: most beautiful city ever.

Happy birthday to your Dad!!! I bet Alina will give him a great post-birthday celebration present with a win in Helsinki.

I'm going to watch it live if I can, so far I've been able to catch quite a few competitions live. When it's Alina I get wet hands and butterflies in my stomach but the joy of watching her live is worth it. So I'll try to go above and beyond to see it.

Either way a special corner in my place will be all decked up with "Alina get lucky" candles and Japanese lucky cats. Plus a Buddha for good measure.

We will welcome you here. Prague makes us proud for you can find here nearly every style of architecture since romasque art till all those (post)modern weird things. The sad thing is that the most glorious times of our state took place in medieval times before Bohemian kingdom became part of Habsburg Monarchy in 1526 (that's probably why medieval revival groups are so popular here, like historical fencing and all). Just one warning, beware of Prague taxi drivers, they are real thieves when it comes to foreigners.

Yes, I believe Alina will show us another spectacular performance :agree:

I colemnly swear I will serve as Alina's FF undercover spy! :D Thank you for your support and I wish you to attend a competition soon! I got lucky because we have a short vacation in this period (a Catholic holiday on the 1st of November in Germany) so I got the time, thankfully. And since I don't have much time to spend money, I have been saving for a while - for this journey in particular, because I decided I will try attending at least one European competition each season. Next season we got Europeans in Graz, Austria and in 2021 I think in Zagreb, Croatia. Worlds 2021 in Sweden. Hopefully Alina will participate at all these skating events!

I might make my Instagram public again for Helsinki to post stuff (I share my life openly only with Alina's fans :D). My seat is not optimal but I'll do my best.

Zenskate, my friend is super excited as well, watched Skate Canada with me. He is so ready to meet so many skaters, you have no idea... :D

Thanks bewitched  Looking forward to your new insta posts, they will be very appreciated.

I hope I will be able to attend some of these competitions myself, I was thinking at a JGP or a challenger to start with, something not so crowded, but where I should be able to find skaters/make photos way more easier than at a GP or Euros/Worlds. Many, many plans but I have to synchronize them with the times when I can take free-days from work, and these times are not so many. Hope that I'll find a way, if I'll ever be able to meet Alina in person I think it would be one of the best days of my life.

Hello, and welcome here. You have a very beautiful story, and somehow similar to mine. We are looking forward to celebrate together Alina's wins :ghug:

Flanker, thank you for this amazing history lesson, that graphic work is so impressive! A couple of weeks ago I was posting again amazed by the technological development that we're witnessing nowadays and this is a great example, the graphic work is breathtaking:eeking:

I have many friends that visited Prague and they all came back so impressed, it's definitely on my traveling list. For this final part of the year I chose Vienna for December, so I will visit Fluture's homeland , but I really hope next year to be able to visit Prague, all the photos that I've seen were just spectacular. :luv17:

Gotta have a Buddha for good measure. :agree:

I want to watch it on the live feed, like I've done for some of SA and SC.
However, I won't be visiting the comp forum this time. "Just sayin'"

I get very nervous around competition times. Always have for my favorites.

I was watching videos of Alina at her first junior GP and wow. It’s so incredible to see how far she’s come. We’ve seen her develop into such a beautiful skater :)

I’m nervous and excited to see her this weekend but I know she will do amazing. New world record if she goes clean? *fingers crossed*

I'm with you all the way...on the nervous part and on the dread of taking part in the discussion at the competition forum. When you are really invested in someone, and I'm all in on Alina, all the time, it's hard to sit tight and let the posters be. I would never bother to try to change someone's mind.

But, I'm going to brace myself and venture forth into the competition thread. Already made my "I'm there" posts at GP Finland.

As a personal goal I do really want to honor the donation that made me being part of that Forum a reality so I'll don my Lara Croft bow, my Carmen skirt and blouse, my "POTO lives" ball cap and I'll soldier on. With a Masaru plush toy and a Pooh by my side for extra emotional support. Wish me luck!!

May the streaming gods bless us with commentary free, non-hiccuping streams.

Totally joining you in the battle, soldier lusk8! Fighting in name of our beautiful queen, Carmengitova, blood will be spilled these days but we will be triumphant!

Guys, I‘ve made up my mind, I‘ll watch Alina live. I feared that after I watched Zhenya‘s SP and she did so badly and then so well in the FS where I didn’t watch on purpose I might jinx Alina, too. And after such a stressful weekend I kinda need a competition where I know I can sit just there and be like: Oooh yes, nailed that jump, that‘s my girl!!! So, I was debating with myself. But in the end I decided that I have so much faith in Alina because of the performances she‘s shown already this season that I‘ll do it. I don‘t want to miss a great skate and a happy Alina just because of me being superstitious after all. I‘ll probably half-cover my eyes when she attemps a jump, though.

I was hoping for a blood free, relaxed competition for us fans actually.
