Alina Zagitova

I'm with you all the way...on the nervous part and on the dread of taking part in the discussion at the competition forum. When you are really invested in someone, and I'm all in on Alina, all the time, it's hard to sit tight and let the posters be. I would never bother to try to change someone's mind.

But, I'm going to brace myself and venture forth into the competition thread. Already made my "I'm there" posts at GP Finland.

As a personal goal I do really want to honor the donation that made me being part of that Forum a reality so I'll don my Lara Croft bow, my Carmen skirt and blouse, my "POTO lives" ball cap and I'll soldier on. With a Masaru plush toy and a Pooh by my side for extra emotional support. Wish me luck!!

May the streaming gods bless us with commentary free, non-hiccuping streams.

MEMO TO ALL....

most probably know this already, but it bears repeating

when watching a youtube stream - "HIDE CHAT" is your friend.

Totally joining you in the battle, soldier lusk8! Fighting in name of our beautiful queen, Carmengitova, blood will be spilled these days but we will be triumphant!

Welcome TheBallerina, commendable Alina soldier!!! We will be the voice of joy and happiness for Alina in that fanfest.

That is priceless advice, last time (Skate Canada) I had to briefly switch from Apple TV (where I can see no comments anyway, their YouTube app doesn't show them at all) to my computer and was like.......oh hell....hide this fast.

Hide mode on!!!

Livechats are a pain... good that you can hide them. Some of the people on there are just plain crazy. It‘s better when you can watch a skater’s performance peacefully than if you have people babbling away all the time. (Whether it‘s “fans“ or commentators I don‘t care... I want peace to enjoy a skate properly  )

Guys, I‘ve made up my mind, I‘ll watch Alina live. I feared that after I watched Zhenya‘s SP and she did so badly and then so well in the FS where I didn’t watch on purpose I might jinx Alina, too. And after such a stressful weekend I kinda need a competition where I know I can sit just there and be like: Oooh yes, nailed that jump, that‘s my girl!!! So, I was debating with myself. But in the end I decided that I have so much faith in Alina because of the performances she‘s shown already this season that I‘ll do it. I don‘t want to miss a great skate and a happy Alina just because of me being superstitious after all. I‘ll probably half-cover my eyes when she attemps a jump, though.

Welcome to the livestream crowd Fluture!!

Wish us all, and Alina, to have a great time..

I was hoping for a blood free, relaxed competition for us fans actually.

Don't worry Fluture, it was more like a figure of speech and it was intended to be a fun-post, I did not think someone will take it literally. I don't think any of us is here for arguing, all the contributors of this fan fest were always calm, happy, well-behaved FS fans, and we will be happy if you'll join us too in this competition's forum. :ghug: Or if it won't be possible, than we'll celebrate here afterwards

Yeah, I‘m really looking forward to this competition because it will be great to see a happy, smiling Alina again after what will hopefully be two wonderful skates. And I‘ll get to see Kaori again, too and an interesting battle for third place which is pretty open at the moment...

Davai, Phantom-Zagitova! Davai, Carmengitova! Davai, ALINA!! :cheer:

I am so calm for Helsinki. I remember how nervous i was before Nebelhorn, my stomach was literally hurting :disapp: but she delivered two perfect free performances + another clean one at Japan Open so i go to sleep perfectly calm. She will slay this

By the way, I've just returned from the cinema, I was watching Bohemian Rhapsody. There is a scene where Freddie tries to convince producers about the possibilities that opera brings to a musicians. And what opera he chose to play? Carmen. Of course I saw Alina everywhere, in every frame instantly

I didn't know they made this movie! I want to see it.

I looked it up and I see that Mike Myers has a cameo role

During the Olympics they kept using "We are the champions" during breaks before podiums.

Alina and "Queen" six degrees game on.

Side note: Freddie was right, Carmen was mainstream born music.

Hey! Hope you don't mind one more here. I have been lurking for some time and finally decided to get an account so I could join you guys here. :)

Welcome, RoseNightingale!

Alina is my favorite skater for sure! I loved her the 1st time I saw her, she is incredible! She is also the one who has really gotten me into figure skating. Growing up I watched the ladies figure skating during the Olympics only and when they changed how they scored... well, let's just say in the 2010 Olympics the only thing I watched was curling (if I watched in 2006 (I really can't remember) it was for Sasha Cohen). XD In the 2014 Olympics Yulia Lipnitskaya got me interested again in watching figure skating at the Olympics

:agree:

and then I saw Alina this year and WOW!

:2thumbs:

For the 1st time I am watching other competitions and am following a skater like this. She's incredible! Because of her I have watched other skaters and have become a fan of several others too, but Alina will always have a special place in my heart that no other can replace. And besides being a great skater she is a great person. She's so sweet and kind! And I really identify with her shyness and love for animals. <3 She's so cute with Masaru! <3 And, oh, did I mention she's incredible? :D

It can never be said too many times that Alina is incredible. ;)

By the way, there are nice comments about Alina on YouTube! These are from her JGPF 2016 FS video. Keep in mind these were made at least a year ago, before Pyeongchang.

Her jumps are literally text book perfect.. un real.. She WILL win the worlds one day.
The next world and Olympic games champion I guess!
Amazing! Watching this performance you almost forget that it's not just ballet performance, but it's a dance on skates sliding on ice. Her jumps are very fluid and effortless.
I think she's my new favorite. I love great technical skaters and she does jumps in the second half so she will be racking up the points. I know she will have plenty of critics because of the back loaded program but I will always defend her. Plus the pressure was on her and she skated perfect. Congratulations!
her arm position after the jumps are very unique, i like it. usually, skaters would stretch their arms out sideways not front and back like hers.

I've also noticed that Alina has a very unique and beautiful arm technique upon landing her jumps.

No, he just said "No point in saying in anything so not to jinx it, so just good luck to Alina". It didn't sound like writing off, just like "She could do it but I'm afraid to jinx it by talking about it".

I like this moment in K&C too :). Eteri always means business :). And Alina looked so... so much hope in her eyes, like "judges, please be kind" :)

Thank you, egoshina. And you described Alina's expression perfectly.

I was watching videos of Alina at her first junior GP and wow. It’s so incredible to see how far she’s come. We’ve seen her develop into such a beautiful skater :)

I’m nervous and excited to see her this weekend but I know she will do amazing. New world record if she goes clean? *fingers crossed*

The big question is, will Alina reclaim 80+ as Russian territory? Her SP was extremely close to that at Nebelhorn.

We can save the bloodbath for RusNats

I am disappointed that I cannot watch Alina live, but I am crossing my fingers for clean skates and no UR. Good luck Alina!

Excited to see Alina this weekend!

Gold for Alina! :hap10::cheer::hap10:

And I’m another fan who admires Alina’s kindness and sweet personality, and love of animals! :luv17:

And so determined, hardworking, and humble!
