Anyways, she held it together extremely well for the rest of the program.
That's probably a 10 point hit for popping the loop.
I assume the negative GOE was for the awkward landing of the loop.

I like that she is really bothered when she doesn't perform well.
I don't think it is about scores or placement - she just wants to show the audience what she is capable of.

Myself, I managed to hold it together during her performance, but when Kaori fell, I started crying. :sad21:

That Lz was good, so she normally took off for the second jump, and...

And yes, without such mistakes, one could start to think that this sport is just some free time pleasure.
 
I looked at my heart rate and I can clearly time Alina's pop looking at the graph...

Anyway, well done Alina! Have some rest and come stronger tomorrow. You are still first with quite a margin (I feel very sorry for Kaori though)
 
Better to rotate then fall than just pop. I rewatched and she only got a BV for a 1Lo then a GOE of ~-3 so about 11 points flew off because of the pop. She can't jump 3Lo after the flip anymore since she didn't really abort it after the lutz. So yea it was costly. But I'm not surprised and she's alright. She still has a 5 point lead and a highest scoring fs.

I didn't watch it on the stream because I'm not one of those people who can watch these things live and the artistic gym men's ring final was a good distraction :laugh:

Don't be so upset, guys... Although she popped the loop in the combo, Queen Alina is still in the first place and she is smiling during the press conference.

So, Alina is still first. After combo, she proved during the rest of the program she can still fight. Reminded me Alyona's SP from Ostrava, when she poped 2A but was able to finish her skate, tears came only after that. I understand Alina is not happy now, on the other hand, she has the motivation to be perfect, I think that helped her always.

My brain stopped working for a moment when Alina popped the loop. I couldn’t understand what was happening. She was PERFECT in practice. But then I calmed down a bit. If we remember last year, Alina always had some struggles in the SP at the beginning of the season and then showed a perfect FS afterwards. And now she doesn‘t even have to be perfect, she has a five point lead, her biggest competitor had some really, really, really bad luck, the others behind her are know to be inconsistent. I strongly believe she will be perfect but even if she isn‘t... a lot of things have to happen for her not to get that gold. I don’t think anyone could possibly overtake her. She will be fine and she will learn from this mistake and only come out stronger.

By tomorrow we will have forgotten already about the popped loop, we will only see beautiful smiling Alina and proud Eteri after a perfect skate and 150+ points!!

I wasn't even upset when she popped the jump, it was seeing her face afterwards, she is always so hard on herself, I hope she can shake it off and slay tomorrow! And yeah, I cried too when Kaori was crying, buy hey, tomorrow is another day, go Alina!!:)

Also the audience was really cheering for Alina today, they were very supportive. Even when the warm-up was over I remember hearing someone screaming Alina's name, and they also reacted so positive after her performance. And it's no wonder...Alina is such an amazing person (and ofc the well-known Olympic Champion), it's hard not to love her :luv17:

The Eurosport guy is probably not her fan at all. I dont watch in on Eurosport but what I read here - mental error, she did not conncect with audience well so she is underscored .. I dont think it was mental error when she land it everytime nice in training and don't strugling with the combo in Germany and Japan too. This basicaly sometime happen, she show she is a human. Jump was probably too huge. And don't connected with audience? The spectactors love her!

Today does not look like best day for woman's figure skating at all. You not see that much errors very often. :confused2: Hope tomorrow will be better thay for everybody.
