Alina Zagitova

Wow, that was the best short performance I have seen from Alina. Matured. Emotion. Performance. Beautiful skate, Alina. The choreography and her movements flowed perfectly. It is nice to see her evolve and develop as a skater.

Okay time for thoughts...

1. I still prefer Carmengitova to Christine-gitova (no? okay I'll see myself out :slink:) but this program is really special, it highlights the beautiful light crispness to Alina's skating and how she can match any music.

2. The 3Lz-3Lo was just a wow moment, the controlled glide up into the -3Lo was everything. It looked like she "snapped into it" sooner - I often see her take her time into the -3Lo so I wonder if this will help her with it for now. It looks very nice.

3. I love her attention to details, like in the first spin where her supporting leg is perfectly straight (forms that beautiful balletic line) and how she's starting to "relax" into her program a bit - like taking the time going into the Charlotte.

4. Her jumps look really, really good. That final 3F gives me life (and hearing the huge cheers for a clean skate!) and her 2A looks sooo good. Not to mention the 3Lz-3Lo from earlier.

5. Eteri and Daniil were so proud, and they should be! This was a marvelous outing for Alina, and so important for her to prove that she can control her nerves at home (no matter what may happen in the free - WR?). It was so heartwarming to see the support of the Russian crowd, and I loved seeing that huge bear that she got at the end (I want one!). And - if you skate your program so well that Eteri cries, you must be doing something right. Although I want to go and give Eteri a big hug (how cool would it be to work with Team Tutberidze anyway?!)

6. And I want to wish her good luck in the free, which I will not be able to watch live, as I must concentrate on a rather important test. But I will come back and check the results which will have Carmengitova at the top! :)

This was something Maria Butyrskaya couldn't do. She never skated at home in the GP because of her nerves. Alina though seems to have nerves of steel. Skating at home comes with great expectations.

That was an incredible performance from Alina! :eeking::love: I am so happy for her! :hap10:

And as I was hoping someone in the stands had a picture of Alina with Masaru. :)
