Watching them was so entertaining! Also can't believe Alina came out so early and had to listen to Mako's music. I like Mako, but her SP music is kind of grating. If I were already nervous, it would send me up the wall.

At first I thought Alina was covering her ears to block out the music and focus herself.
But it looks like she was rubbing her ears. Is that to stimulate blood flow I wonder?
And then of course, hitting her thighs right before her program.

I remember last year at her 2nd GP, the announcers were talking about her tutu and ballet theme.
Then she started pounding her thighs...
And one of the announcers said "Well, I've never seen that at the ballet before"

This was something Maria Butyrskaya couldn't do. She never skated at home in the GP because of her nerves. Alina though seems to have nerves of steel. Skating at home comes with great expectations.

She competed in 7 GP finals and never won. Not even in 99 when she was at the top and won everything - except for the GP Final where she fell twice - it was in Saint Petersburg... Maria hated skating at home. I don't think that's the case with Alina though.

Thank you for this video. They are so invested in this program, at first I had skipped to 9 25 and was wondering if Eteri was sad over her mother, but actually its the performance that made her so emotional she even had to step away. Man this season has not been a happy celebratory post olympic win season for any of them but they are definitely fighting.

Sergey is so cool... and so professional, reliable, calm and modest. And he never wants to be under the spotlight, although he is one of the greatest technician in the world.

I don t think everything is related to Alina, as much as her fans would want it so.
I am sure that Eteri passes a really hard time now and is more sensitive as usual.

Yea for sure it's has a lot to do with Eteri's personal situation. Just the fact she is here with Alina and support her no matter what is admirable, no one can blame her if she skipp it .. Such an amazing coach and strong woman she is. I bet Alina really wanted to make her happy too (like she want everyday but this days especially).

I am late as always but here are my observations:
Alina is one of those skaters who have all their emotions on the face, I look at her before the program starts and I know if she'll mess it up. I am happy that this wasn't the case yesterday. She seemed very focused but relaxed at the same time.

I even enjoyed her SP for the first time ever, and I am honestly one of those who hate the choreo :

Throwing the 3Lz3Lo so early in the SP has actually an additional wow-effect: the music started, I just got concentrated on Alina and baang..she did the combo I was like..whaat, when did this happen

I liked the StSq pretty much this time, she wasn't tense and this is what was needed for it to work - the music is light ans so should her emotions be. Well done!

I got emotional at the end when everyone was cheering for her. So many supporters!

Seeing the video of Eteri getting emotional made me think that the last weeks weren't easy for anyone. She's struggling with her loss but obviously has dedicated herself to her students because she dosen't want to affect their success.
