Alina Zagitova

I dragged myself out of bed and hauled it to UBC to watch practice this morning.

Since it's just practice, I sat anywhere that I could get a closer look.

Alina looks strong and well-rested. She had a pretty clean free skate, but I feel she looked better when others were doing their skate and not all eyes were on her.

A side note, Liza missed her practice with music, not sure how usual that is.

There's a good amount of time between now and the real deal. Hopefully she'll get to relax and recharge.

:)

Thanks for the report! I hope you are enjoying it there and I feel envious :)
Fingers crossed for Alina!

People wrote that Alina was sick. Looks bad in training. And they write not only the skating rink is cold, but also the rooms in the hotel.

I hope she is ok

Alina operates well under pressure, so we have faith. Let us redouble our warm positive thoughts.

I was at the practice and I think she looks strong and better rested than she was before.
Thank you so much! These reports are so needed and appreciated because you can't always believe what you read on the internet. [emoji847]

I watched Alina's walkthrough and everything looked at the highest level. Anything can happen in the FS, I am so excited! Last year, Alina won many competitions after impressive FS performances, I hope this season will be the same!

I hope both Alina and Kaori are ok! [emoji52]

I know we are used to Alina not making mistakes in practice. But I don‘t think it‘s alarming, she‘s human after all. I think her runthrough looked great and confident. I wish her all the best for the FS and truly believe we‘ll see her slay. :)

Thank you for your report, it means the world to me to hear it from you with eyes on the target!!

At NHK Liza also missed one of the practices, so I guess if she feels she doesn't need it too much maybe she opted to rest a bit.

About Alina's falls today, I dont believe (as someone said before)that it is something to be alarmed

We already have seen Alina practiced perfectly and fall during competition.
And the same ... we've seen she falling in practice and than having amazing and perfectly clean jumps. So now it is all about her concentration, focus and a little bit touch of lucky as well.:pray:

I'm not worried about the practice reports from the media, I just want Alina to feel great and have a good time.

She has nothing to prove, to anyone, and even as I understand that this is her career and she works as hard at it as anyone with their careers in whatever field they might be, I don't want her to work herself to the bone over this one competition.

The only competition worth working yourself to the bone for is (maybe) the Olympics because it only comes around once every 4 years and she already climbed that mount Everest. It's hers for life and it's hers for now more than ever. The rest should be added bonus done to have fun, enjoy her immense gift for skating and bring joy to herself and others. She won everything she entered into this season, and that record so far speaks volumes about her talent and work ethic, whatever happens here it won't change that at all.

Gold, Silver, Bronze or no medal position at all won't change how great she is. I believe she can get gold at every competition she enters, and I wish for her to get gold because I know she works hard to get it and wants it too.

But in the end of the day, she is great because of the amount of talent she has, how hard she works and her amazing personality, not just numbers on a scoreboard or even more medals to embellish her already packed trophy stand. You work your best on that given day and this fact alone is your medal, a medal that Alina wins every time.

I read this great quote by Christopher Woods that I'd like to share with you guys and with Alina: "He said, Boy, never fight until you have to. But when it's time to fight, you fight like you're the third monkey on the ramp to Noah's Ark… and brother, it's startin' to rain.”

Alina you fight like that all the time, I know this, regardless of the end results. I admire you so much for this and I believe in you, I believe in your fight and the way you always go for it like you are the third monkey on the ramp to Noah's Ark is your eternal gold medal.

Good luck today and you are always the only winner for me.

Well it starts in one hour but I am leaving now..

Unhapilly today I have a commitment with one of the few people in my life who is more important than Alina, my 5 years old daughter Ella! (Who loves Alina as well!). In spite of that my thoughts and heart is in Vancouver supporting our girl. And I am praying as well. I will try to watch at least Alina but Im not sure if I can do it.

Good luck to her and to us guys!It was a pleasure to be part of the pre-competition discussions. Enjoy our girl on ice! :)

Does anyone know if team zagitova will provide a link to a stream again? The one for the short program worked so perfectly 🙂
