Alina Zagitova

Alina herself admitted that she still has mental issues while performing with so much pressure on her shoulders. But something changed and she is learning from every single mistake she is making. After Helsinki she has been on point with her short program. And after Rostelecom, her work with the under rotations payed off because she was not called again. And the flip was once-in-a-life-time-miscalculation. plus, she didn’t fall all season. And once she made a mistake, she was able to pull herself together still the end of the program.
I think the free program was the best she delivered all season in terms of interpretation /connection to the music/step sequence execution. I loved that setseq, the power, the desperation, the love that she puts into... She portrayed her Carmen beautifully.
Once she gets her combos together, and I think it will happen by the time the European Championships come, Alina’s Carmen will be so hard to beat...
And for now, I’m already anxious for the RusNat... Alina’s mental strength will be tested once again, the pressure will be hugeeee. I hope she will be in a good state of mind and able to enjoy Saransk atmosphere. whatever happens, she will always be my gold girl and I will always be so so so proud of her.

For those people who read yesterday this my comment in competition thread

— Rika completely overscored ..I can’t believe

I want to say I have nothing against Rika and did not try to insult her , I then explained why it wrote

— My post was just for fun, trolling if you wish ( and I am sorry Rika to use your name).. for those GS judges , who constantly writes here that Alina overscored , all her jumps UR (even she did well) and criticize the real judges

Once again ,I want to apologize to the Rika fans and those people who really liked her yesterday , I was angry

Emotions flying high, humour and sarcasm get misunderstood (and misused sometimes ;) ).

Congrats to Alina for winning the Silver Medal!:cheer: Her portrayal of Carmen was fiery and spot on. People wonder why her components score is so high
well I don't, she deserves every point. I had no idea that her foot was injured, hope that it is not serious and she recovers soon.

Wow - I missed a lot the last 2 days!

Welcome back

Edited to add: What was going on with Yagudin? Yagudin gave an interview saying that second place is not a tragedy. sports.ru deleted his interview, so he posted the article to his IG with an angry message about media creatures and tagged @azagitova. Yagudin came in second the entire 2000-01 season to Plushenko, but he rallied and won everything in 2002, so I can see why he would not think second place is a tragedy.

You beat me to it!!!

Just like Alina beat everyone else.....

Our Golden Girl is number one in her much deserved and worked for place.

Speaking of Gold....this heart of Gold (Alina gave her flower crown to Anna) speaks volumes as to why she is and will always be my number 1 (and only)

Despite the bobble on the LzT, I thought the rest of her jumps looked a lot better than they have all season. Her LzLo was well rotated, and very clean despite having problems with it before. The second half of the program she was a lot less tense and she got more into the music as well.

We really love such a remarkable girl. To come back after the Olympics, the first olympic champion to even make it to a GPF in the next season after they won, heck the fact that she's even still competing in Grand Prix series is remarkable. In all honesty while gold is great, I'm glad she got silver here. I always remember how devastating it was for Zhenya to not get anything but 1st and then come in 2nd in the Olys. It's good to learn how to be comfortable in second place, and it takes some pressure off of her. The fact that she did this after injuring her foot is more astounding. She's really strong, and like some commentators have said, she's a gritty skater who can pull it together when she needs to. In a way, she kind of reminds me of Yuzuru; he hasn't won everything in his career, at times was beaten out by younger competitors, but at the end of the day he won gold twice by sheer grit and keeping his cool when all the others could not. That's the kind of quality that makes a two time Olympic Gold medalist – and a quality I too see in Alina. She's really a skater for the ages, and despite all of the critics, I do see her being around for a long while yet. I hope this small 'bump' will only motivate her to get stronger and better.

I blame it all to the page 666 that we just gone past!

Alina, you are still the most beautiful champion!!

Ed you are Alina's GS bodyguard don't forget that.

Part of me wonders how seriously her injury could even be...if she really tripped over a cable and fell. What could be injured? Let's have a think.

If she hit her head, well she didn't seem concussed or disoriented, so we can rule out head injuries.
If she landed awkwardly on an or on her body, we'd likely see her hold back on some movements (unless painkillers).
If she twisted her ankle, well she's still jumping 3Lz-3Lo, so that's not likely.

In conclusion: I can't think of what could be seriously hurt. I doubt we have much to worry about.

This is another reason why she should bring along Masaru , she can do a good job to check out her walking path and chew up everything which fails the inspection.

It’s the mascot of the Grand Prix Series, you will see him today skating around at the Gala, Disney on Ice style.

I never knew that. It‘s cute, though.

When is the gala scheduled to take place? And when does Alina skate?

He looked so much like the Olympics bear (minus the last one's hat) that I admit I got confused by him sometimes.

But here he is, in all his glory, behind the medalists at last year's Gala in Nagoya

Since they have that costume I bet he'll make an entrance at the Gala later today....let's wait and see.

I don't think you should apologize for that. Here is Alina's space. Nobody here wished anything against Rika, she is just a kid, however, it is like a football match, you wish to your team make a gol, not the team who is playing against yours. It is how it is. In the calour of our emotions everything can come from our mouth, and here is Alina's space so everyone should understand. We're not on Rika's space talking things against her..Right? :)

_________________________________

And I feel that I lost a lot in the last 24hours... But, to resume, When I arrived home yesterday I saw that Alina was second. I watched it and decided to sleep.

Than, when I woke up today I was just thinking as a grown up 30 years old woman, who already had time enough to learn one big point of life, no one always win. Sometimes we win, sometimes we lose... And a thing that we learn with the time is that it is what makes life interesting and challenging. If she always wins what is the point of keep fighting? We are on the battle to learn and to improve. That's what I wish for young Alina. She needs it.

And again as a mature woman, I was thinking about the pressure on her shoulder as well. You see, Alina won the olympic's games in January, than everything changed in her life, a lot of campgains, interviews, important commitments, she totally changed her routine to be able to keep training being a famous face. (A lot of great skaters after olympic's game don't compete for at least one year..To take a breath). Than, all that drama with worlds, Medvedeva, and etc. During all this time, she was learning two new and complex programs to be able to be ready for compete in the second half of the year... Imagine how exhausted her body and her mind is right now. So many changes in such a short period and she is just a kid. :disapp:

I watched her performance one, two, three times...And I noticed that something was not good. I don't know if it was the cable thing, or if she felt the pressure, but something was wrong. She didn't have a clean performance, she is much better than what she showed and it does not matter because she knows it. It's not only about jump, but the whole thing. So yesterday she lent her crown to Rika. But I am sure she will have it back soon! :agree::agree:

Now all our eyes should stay on nationals. Do you guys see? It never ends. She must be really tired. :palmf:

To finish, I do like Rika, she is great however I don't feel anything when I watch her performances. Alina brings me a lot of great feelings when I watch her performances. I feel each point of the program with her..It's a thing from the heart. And it has nothing with points or medals. I felt devasted when I saw worlds this year. It's a question of feeling. Sometimes your feel sometimes you don't..And I don't feel anything about Rika. For me she can win or lose I will probably don't care. As long as she is safe.

I know you all guys hate to talk about Medvedeva here but c'mon its not a fanactic but a fan place.. I really wish Medvedva back. I miss her. For me she is way better than Rika. I miss both Alina and Medvedeva being amazing one to beat each other..
