Alina Zagitova

Alina doesn't have a personal agent, and it's a pity. She deserves one. People from Sambo are in charge of her affairs right now.

And yeah, metoo. I'm also afraid to go in the competition threads. I prefer to write something positive there one or two times without reading anything.

Alina needs you in the edge. True.

I think that is why so many US and especially Canadian figure skaters in Ladies Season Bests List this year, and so few Russian.

Oh lord sometimes is to difficult to explain simples things. Just take a look at olympic's results for all sports and check who is always in the top 5. USA always win by far from others countries in the summer's olympics and during winter olympic's this year for example was in 4th. The only one which really get close is China with all that crazy methods they use. Noruega was in first, look the size of Noruega compared to Russia. Better, look for Noruega's population and Russia's population. Look the top 5 and then say that population's income does not matter.

I am not putting Russia down talking about it. I come from Brazil, which is much worst in so many points.

Russia has a history with FS, they girls have the perfect body, the perfect artistic ''side'' that come from ballet genes. Amazing coaches and great structure to prepare amazing athletes to be competing in the future. But believe me, a lot of girls may have all the tallent but does not have the structure. Look for Eteri's team, almost all of them are from Moscow. Russia is the biggest country in the world. A lot of girls maybe does not have the same opportunity because of many reasons, location, income and everything else. In spite of that Russia will always be a strong country in FS.

Anyway..Im done with that topic! Only thing that I need to clarify is that for me, I give extra bonus for Alina for all that. Her life was not easy, and be able to be the kind of athlete that she is is the result of too many eforts from her and her family, like live alone, in a small apartment, with that fact that her family can't be by her side because it must be expensive for them, etc For me, she becomes even more special because of that. But she still being part of the lucky's girls who had her familly to support her with financial needs and etc.

And Masaru! Who is priceless!

Was going to post some links to nice videos on YouTube with Alina's Gala EX but YouTube figure skating channels are sinking faster than the Titanic.

I watched everything without commentators because my feed had none and have been tracking my way around the videos with comments. No I can't link to any because the ones I wanted are all down.

So:

- Eurosport2: the British commentators, called Alina fantastic as she took the ice and really liked her Gala EX, commended her on fighting hard and said she is a great skater.

- Three people (one men, two women) speaking english: called Alina a fan favorite when she took the ice, commented on her physical growth and the hardships of it, wondered if her EX was Daniil's idea or maybe hers, commented that "when a girl puts her hair in a ponytail she means business", where super excited when she punched the camera at the end, commented that "that cameraman got an excluive" and wished they could see it, once the replay started rolling around and they saw the punch they were like "there she is" and screamed in excitement.

Thank you for sharing that. I wish the ISU would stop taking down the YT vids of skating competitions. This sport needs all the help it can get with popularity and deleting channels full of quality content is definitely not helping!

I wish so too.

I could understand it if they were posting Senior Figure Skating content in a way (with or without paid subscription) that people could watch. But just taking down things without offering access to a worldwide audience is really preventing the sport from finding new audiences.

Younger fans watch YouTube a lot and search for content there, being absent from that platform for the Senior Figure Skating circuit they are looking at TV right fees while missing out on broad audience numbers.

Take Brazil as an example, ISU stream on their Eurovision platform, says "Content blocked for your region" when someone attempts to watch a competition from inside that country, yet Figure Skating is not on any of the cable or open air channels. The blocked content isn't available to be watched in a local platform. Let's say one of the local TV channels there bought that license in a package along with a bunch of licenses for other sports, doesn't really matter because they are not airing it now and never will. So all fans there can't really watch anything.

It is an example, and not a small one, since Brazil is the 4th country in the world in number of internet users. That is 139 million internet users (66% of the population size), and that is more total users than Japan has.

Alina has fans in Brazil, I've found people complaining to the ISU and at other internet spaces, about access for competitions in the country.

If the ISU wants to broaden their audience they should play smart, specially after the Olympics just aired (and it aired in TV in Brazil) and capitalize on that.

Eurovision stream is blocked in Russia too, so what? It is not a problem at all here. Try to use VPN extension for your browser.

Well, we are talking about how to reach a new audience. And this yet-to-be fans won't be bothered with the VPN.

I saw that one too!
Loved the commentary.

Talk about shooting themselves in the foot.

The ISU.... The braintrust that never misses an opportunity to miss an opportunity.

Is it ISU or the broadcast networks deciding to crack down? I mean, it’s a move that reeks of incompetence and malevolence, so I assume it’s ISU, but it could also just be CBC, Eurosport, etc., flagging videos. And enough automated complaints can sink a channel.

My skating playlists have become increasingly barren as of late. I should probably download my favourite Alina performance commentary before it disappears too.

I think that one was from CBC, even if the video didn't have the CBC logo on.

It didn't have any logos so I got lost on it, thanks for pointing me in the right direction, that comment was really great and I enjoyed watching it.
