I found a new article about Alina and Masaru with a very sweet quote from Alina's grandmother -

The touching story about the dream of a 15-year-old Russian girl and her Japanese dog that came true has captivated many. Hot on the heels of Masaru shot quite a lot of news stories and even a small documentary. The popularity of Masaru was so great that even during the World Cup, several foreign broadcasters who
came to work for the world championship, asked to make a special report about Masaru and Alina!

This summer, when it was hot in Moscow, Masaru was taken out of town,
so that the dog could frolic and walk, and not be in a city
apartment. At the same time, Masaru was identified as a “school” - she took a
course from a dog trainer, began to execute commands.

Now Masaru is at home, where she has been waiting for a long time. "Of course, with any dog
it is necessary to be engaged, it gives a lot of trouble, but we have become accustomed to Masaru. She has such smart eyes. You speak to her, she understands everything, ”admits Alina’s grandmother.

Over the summer Masaru grew up. But she remained the same kind and
sociable dog. “I have long wanted to have a dog - a big
dog. I generally love animals. But Masaru is not just a dog, I
hope that in time she will become my faithful and loyal friend,
”admitted Alina Zagitova.

I remember Alina's grandmother had been unsure about her getting another pet, so I'm happy to hear Masaru has won Grandma over.

Do you have a link to the article?

How long is the train ride? If it's not that long a train ride maybe Eteri should have driven and let Alina and Diana practice driving along the way for experience! ;)

I certainly hope Alina and Diana nail their performances after the travel.

Something over 10 hours.

Eteri seemed a bit sick in that train footage. I wish all of them a comfy journey and enough strength.
Hope Alina can handle it, she already missed the official part with drawing the places, where the skater like to present themselves in fancy clothes.

I hope she can handle it too. At this point she doesn't have a choice - she has to handle it.

I vehemently disagreed with the RusFeds 'what is jetlag?' decision to fly into Vancouver later rather than sooner. I understand wanting to take a sleep aid to help you fall asleep on schedule; but looking at Alina's face at the beginning of her GPF short program makes me think she won't be doing that again.

I'm going to hope that '10 hour train ride to competition on the last possible day' does not get added to the 'what were you thinking' list.

I think it is a good decision to "miss" as much as possible the toxic atmosphere that goes around RN from the press, TAT (and her friends) and some antis...
Better spent this time training on the home rink and than with Diana on the train.

What I am little bit afraid is that all this mess with their delay doesn't show Alina&Eteri in the best light in the eyes of federation officials, judges and all this Tarasova "mainstream". Alina is sensitive and certainly doesn't want any additional extraordinary attention.

On the other hand when Konstatninova forgot her passport and missed her flight to Helsinki GP, she delivered there one of her best performances😀

Good luck Alina, you can make it!

no. it is not the last possible day and she is not the only skater who decided to take a train.

the 1st channel decided to make a show from "Ladies practice". All (Men, Pairs, Ice Dance) will have their SP tomorrow. Except from girls who have one more day before the SP.
It's normal to have 2 practice sessions before a competition. There is no need to have 3 practices like only girls there have .. just to entertain a public.
