Alina Zagitova

Any time I hear someone takes that music, Carmen, I become nervous for her or him or them.
But the crowd adores her.

Two faults.

She fault, but stand up. She is probably out of podium, but still secure herself a spot for ECH/WCH due to POTO, so It's ok. :)
I wonder a bit what happened with Carmen, she was excelent in the begining of the season in Nebelhorn and Japan, no problems here. But I still believe they will established it back for the two most important competitions. :)

It almost seemed like she was injured in some way. Like when she attempted to do that first spin she immediately let go of her skate like there was a pain. Any info?

So sad for Alina today.

I'm sure she wanted to skate her absolute best at this competition.

Right now, I don't even want to watch the LP.
I will look at it later.

I think would take more than two weeks and maybe a coaching change. her technique is falling apart. Isn't t becoming painfully obvious that senior skaters don't do well under Eteri?

She has done well so far. She won Nebelhorn, both Grand Prix gold, and silver at the final, not to mention a top score from yesterday. She gives one bad performance (which by the way, we have seen before from her), and now the technique is falling apart? I don't think so. It's painfully obvious to me that you have a bias.

Alina is a fighter and Eteri is a superb strategist, I'm sure they will be doing some intense work for the next few weeks to figure out what went wrong and pull it together for the Euros. In my opinion, she should always try to keep in mind that she only needs to do one element at a time, no need to be perfect all the time. But as a fan, I have trust in Alina and her coaching team. Don't let it get to you and keep going, Alina. I wish you calmness and a clean skate in future competitions

I feel absolutely gutted for her.
My heart broke watching the FP.
But for some reason, her reaction and her coaches reaction made it seem like they weren't shocked or were already expecting it in a way?
I wonder if she's injured or they already knew something was wrong before the FP...
Hopefully she'll do better at the Europeans.
Love you Alina <3

I care about Alina feeling OK, she had issues today and we all should know that issues today mean just that, issues today.

They are not omens for the future. This is Figure Skating, an insanely tough sport, where at every single competition the skaters are expected to give the performance of their lives.

This season so far, Alina was having clean skates (as in, no falls), so this is a first time for the season.

She is focused, a hard worker and will take the messages she needs from this which are: she should continue to work as she has been working.

To me it was clear from the "leg crab spiral" at warm up and also the "leg grab" at POTO (which she also missed) that something was a bit off. She was having to fight for it, and fight for it she did, I'm proud of her for that.

Sometimes it is not your best day and you need to fight for it, she showed up, got into position, swinged her bat, and fought for it. I'm a million times proud of her. Even more proud of seeing her calm, cool and collected after it.

The past belongs to the past and what you need to work for is the future, her future is as bright and beautiful as she is her possibilities are infinite and my joy to watch her is also infinite. Today was not a reflection of her best abilities, nor a reflection of any faults, it is simply a reflection of today.

She has been working on a number of things, she has a plan, her team has a plan and they should stick to it.

Alina you are Golden and you are a Winner!!! Know enjoy your holidays and get ready for the second part of your season.

To me, Alina looked a tiny bit stiff, awkward and slow right from the start. So perhaps there was a problem. However, Alina has never been one to make excuses, so we may not hear if there was.

Sorry for Alina. Her FS' s have not been as good as her SP's this year.

Coming here to read that Alina struggled today was a mind blowing experience. I hope she can fix things and times for World Championships. But she will always be Olympic champion and that trumps everything.

Look at Anna Shcherbakova, btw, there were voices how she is fragile for quads, she should write them off and all this, or even she "is done". Alina is not done or falling apart just like Anna wasn't after JGPF. And remember, there was no olympic champion among ladies for a long time having such good (yes, good) post-olympic season.

I am sad. Mainly because it will give rise to many people expressing 'opnions' similar to sailorpooh's. Why Alina never gets slack cut for her when she's having a bad day?

Have some rest, Alina. Go and spend holiday with your family, get strength from it and carry on!

OMG! Really sorry!:scratch2::sad4:

Daniil was praying before the FS.

But like you said, Alina does not make excuses. We may never know what happened today, unless a loose lipped person associated with Rusfed or Team Tutberidze talks. :)

He was praying before Anna S. as well.:scratch2:

I don't know why people come into Alina thread to talk bad about her. She'll be fine. let your negativity in the edge. And people still don't believe Alina fans when we say that there's a double standard

One mediocre skate doesn’t mean anything. She’s proved throughout the season that she’s a fighter and champion.

I know she will shine at her upcoming competitions. Alina is perfectly capable of putting out solid performances on ice and it’s sad to see people doubting her abilities.
