Actually, she's not been doing very well during run-throughs and warum-up sessions. She herself said that it felt like her arms and legs were not part of her body (or something to that extent) explaining the struggle in warmups. She may just be under the weather, or maybe pressure or something else on her mind. So I think it's likely that she and the coaches considered the possibility that it might not turn out perfectly. In many ways, I'm glad that's over! Now she needs to go home and re-group for herself, and have a merry Christmas :laugh:
 
Even Carmen must have had bad days. Have you seen the Sierras of Granada at this time of year, laden with snow, rising above the Med? No wonder, today, Carmen slipped on the icy Andalusian roads.

Even on a bad day, Alina's Carmen is a superb rendering. A triumphant blend of colour, dance and music.

I am interested in this "technique is falling apart" hypothesis.
I think I have seen some similar arguments in youtube comments....

I'm a little confused right now. She was fantastic in the SP yesterday.
Did all this happen overnight?

I need to know the specifics of just what is falling apart and where.
Real technical analysis. Not blurry youtube videos of supposed URs and other such things.

I remember an interview where Eteri said that due to Alina's growth - 3 things happened.
1. Her technique had to be re-worked on her jumps.
2. Because of this, things weren't coming as naturally to her. Trouble with muscle memory.
3. Because of this she needed a good 45 minutes of warming up to get her jumps to "click".

For now, I have to go with her coach's opinion because she works with her every day.
So I think she possibly might have a better view of things than seeing 1 performance on a shaky video feed.
 
I could not finish watching the FS, and probably will stay away from the forum for a while, but wanted to come in here and say we love you and support you Alina, no matter what!!! ❤️

Yes no slack for Alina. Nothing but slack for Zhena. smh. I hope Alina gets some rest this holiday comes back strong and maybe even use as a sport psychologist if she needs to.
 
We can be absolutely sure that, despite her disappointment, Alina will be filled with happiness and pride at the accomplishment of her three tiny team-mates, Anna, Alexandra and Alena. In the absence of a podium place for herself, this is a heart-warming result for her to celebrate.

Alina Zagitova Media just posted this warmup from today and boy it was rough. She misses the axel and pops the Lutz like three times. Probably the toughest warmup I've ever seen from Alina.

It's a miracle how she pulled it together. I wonder if she's feeling 100%. Hope she feels better tomorrow in the Free!! :agree:

I have never been so wiped out by a Nationals we knew it could get wild and crazy. I feel kind of empty though especially with what happened to our Olympic champion in the free skate. I hope this does not haunt her like world's did but it probably will.
 
Since she's obviously in shape to skate as many clean free skates as she likes, I feel like it makes sense to speculate about other factors that might have taken a toll on her. For example, at the russian test skates she also had a meltdown, and people also clapped very hard to the music. It even made me -as someone behind a screen- nervous. It might have been anything, maybe finally competing as equals with the very strong girls she trains with, i dont know.

What I'm trying to say is that she could have easily won this competition. I don't think she's hurt, or needs a coach change. I don't think it's a reason to panic either, she got enough to go to all the important competitions this season.

If from Team Tutberidze, we could probably rely on it. If RusFed, probably deceit.
 
How was her practice and warm up today?

After her skate TAT was talking some trash that she wasn´t consistent during her practice...:eek:
I strongly dislike TATs commentary. Even if she accidentaly says something nice about Alina she doesnt forget to mention Zhenya as well...
 
As someone who went trough the same "night mare" yesterday during the SP with another skater, I just wanted to tell you all that I absolutely know and understand how awful it is when your favourite skater is struggling. At those moments our dearest athletes need our support. I am grateful that the audience in Saransk was so supportive of all the skaters today. They were cheering for Evgenia's great performance but they cheered just as loud for Alina in order to encourage her not to give up. We usually are very separated on this forum but I was just really happy to see how untied this "real" crowd was and how much love they showed for all those incredible young ladies.

I am entirely sure that RussFed will send Alina to Euros and Worlds. Among the seniors she's still the most reliable this season. Liza T is a lock, she may have a 3A but her PCS are very low that's why Alina is still the very best shot for getting a medal at those competitions. Konstantinova scored higher than Alina in this competition and will get the 3rd (it's actually the 2nd spot but let's face it..she's No.3) spot but she's not so consistent. And Zhenya should really stay in Canada and train for the next season, it would be for her own good.

It's really hard to say if Alina's technique is actually falling apart. I think she has a very solid 2A and 3F. There's no sign of regress on those jumps. What's giving her trouble are the combinations and URs on those. I think that after growing on height and also undergoing some body changes she can't get enough height and also can't generate enough power to rotate the second jumps. This probably needs more training. And nobody knows in what medical condition her body is.
 
forget about this, I read she was in pain. It might not be true but the reality is that i dont really know that.
 
Why people are panicking so much? I think she was just nervous and under pressure, a rough skate can happens to anyone, even the best. What matter is what will happen in the next competitions and I'm sure she'll come back stronger than ever.

I had to unfollow a lot of team Borser pages on my Instagram, all Medvedeva fan page in disguise... It's unbelievable that just because someone managed to pull out a decent skate people are ready to bash her contenders, it just makes me laugh [emoji23]
