Alina Zagitova

TheBallerina thank you!:thank: Little Alina's so adorable. Does anyone happen to know when the video is from?

You are very welcome! I've just noticed that the video is also dated, at 30th of December, 2012, at the opening of the "Olympian" ice rink, from Izhevsk.

An interesting story I learned recently :)

Elizaveta Tuktamysheva won RusNats in December 2012. So on the 30th of December, the day the Olympian ice rink was opened, the president of Udmurtia said at the ceremony, "Let this rink bring us the next Elizaveta Tuktamysheva."

Little did he know that he was witnessing future Russian and Olympic champion Alina Zagitova skating right in front of him  :clapper:

Let it be so, and this year Alina will become World Champion. It is destiny

Just comparing travel times for World Championships in Saitama, Tokyo with Vancouver, Canada.
Msc-Vancouver, Cnd --- E-W 8200 km
Msc-Saitama, Jpn ------ W-E 7200 km
Msc-Seoul, RSK -------- W-E 6600 km (although A and E travelled to Japan first)

Flying W>E is always worse for jetlag. It will be interesting to see what travel arrangements they put in place by Alina's team (and for the entire Russian contingent).

On the plus side, Alina has had plenty of practice making that long W>E journey... and then performing well. This year alone Japan the Ice, Japan Open, and of course, the glorious OG in Seoul.

For European Championships, Minsk is a mere 1 hr from Moscow, same distance, give or take, as Saransk.

Alina seems to do better with Japan, Saitama is 6 hours ahead of Moscow while Vancouver was 11 hours ahead.

The time zone moves in the same general direction but it's about 1/2 the time difference.

I hope Vancouver taught RusFed something about not cutting it too close to the start of the competition, it was not only about Alina, others had some issues too. If I were them I would allow at least a 48h grace period, but, as we live in the real world, I know several feds do like to come in in the nick of time.

All skaters must adapt and with each new competition Alina is learning about what suits her and how to accommodate time shifts , I wish her a great performance at WC.

A small video portraying Alina's SP spins. I like a lot this type of videos. Thanks to however done it.

Me too. I really like Alina's spins, the layback is her best imho, centered with good speed. Btw, is it bad that I am already starting to get nervous for Alina at Europeans but excited at the same time? They're still a full 2 weeks away, and I feel like I've been counting the days since the beginning of the year:laugh:

In this photo, it almost looks as if Sabina is the elder of the two

I know. Lol. Alina looks so young here. My guess is 3;years ago.

:hap10:

Hey Lusk8 - is the Guinness Museum still at the Empire State Building????

I wanna see a statue of Alina next to the guy who weighed 1000 lbs and the guy who was 8' 11". :luv17:

Nope, it closed it in the mid-90s, and in true NY fashion they auctioned off all the items there.

Wonder who got them?

They still have a Museum in LA I Believe, on Hollywood Blvd., went there once, but Alina's Swan Lake tutu deserves better. She should be along with the Fabergé Eggs at the Met.

Or better yet, she should be at the Fabergé Museum in St Petersburg, now that is a great museum, now all she needs is a Fabergé themed program or EX for next year to make good on that connection.
