Alina Zagitova

I‘m so nervous.. debating if I should watch her programs because I‘m afraid I could jinx it

I am nervous when she is skating, but this season she was more succesful when I was watching, than when I run away cowardly, so I must see her compete :)

Alina’s verb is “is”, she is the best figure skater, she is super talented, she is beautiful.

Another verb I would use for her “will be”, she will be even better as she evolves in her career. She is doing a FS with two different 3Lz combos, this is insanely hard, so hard no one else is doing it. She plans on adding other technical elements in the future and I’m positive that she will do it.

She has nothing to prove, to anyone, her high value as an athlete is undeniable, I want her to enjoy skating, reach her private goals and be happy.

She makes me happy and everything I get to watch her is like a Christmas Morning. Mixed with 4th of July because I see a ton of fireworks.

For me, it has been the complete opposite. When I didn't or couldn't watch, the results were at the best. The times I gave in to temptation and switched on, there were small slip-ups.
I am sorry, I fear it has been me.
This has been the case with both Alina at Anna this season, but not Alexandra. Perhaps she is impervious to jinction.

Anyway, I am determined to break the jinx. So I'll be watching both Alina and WCh and Anna at JW. :coffee:

But then again... perhaps not... :scratch3:

For me it changes through time (which means there cannot be correlation but we humans are superstitious). Last season it was all good till worlds. Somehow when Alina's time in FS came, I somehow felt very nervous suddenly, that did not happen before to me. So I left, but then curiosity won so I've returned just when Alina fell for the first time. I felt so down...
Then I was so nervous before Nebelhorn, I still felt a guilt for what happened (See? That's what love does to rational adult man :) ) but made myslef to watch both SP and FS and saw marvellous Alina. Since then I saw live Alina in Japan open (another great performance) but did not see her SP live in Finland (where she poped combo). Than saw FS which was good, so I thought now I bring her luck. That more or less lasted till Nationals, where I didn't see FS live (so it supported this "luck bringing theory"). But saw live Alina's FS in Euros, so there theory disproved itself...

 I can identify with what you're saying. The "evidence" builds up more and more and it becomes harder and harder to break the lock.
The synergy can certainly be there in a hall or theatre or stadium, so why not across the wires?
Heaven knows what certain people would think if they read this

To everyone talking about whether to watch Alina's Worlds "unspoiled" or not....

Thanks a lot!!!!

I thought I would have another couple of weeks before worrying about this.
But, nope, the worrying starts now. :gaah:

Yeah, like I'm sure Alina's mind will be filled with thoughts like "Oh, I wonder is lesnar001 is watching me skate - I'm so nervous"

Well, its all OK, because even her father can't bring himself to watch her "live".
So we are in good company.

 Alina has a long list of her fans' superstitions in her notebook, continually updated with the latest reports.

Perhaps if we organise this well, we can pair off (I watch+ I don't watch) into mutually cancelling effects, like matter and anti-matter.

I’ve been trying to work out exactly the same theory (counting only this season) for me, if I watch her SP live, she will do well, but if I watch her FS live, she won’t. (Apart from at Nebelhorn where she did a good SP when I didn’t watch) But I’m going to force myself to watch the FS at worlds to get rid of my superstition and there’s really nothing to lose now I feel I’ve been through it all [emoji23]
People may think I’m crazy but it’s kinda true 🤷🏼*♀️

Whereas for me, for Anna I can’t really jinx her either, it’s been mixed results - I’ve watched all her FS except Junior nationals and the cup stages. She did well at the cup stages but not at Jr Nats. I watched her FS at JGPF and look what happened; whereas when I watched it at senior nationals look what happened! Although when I don’t watch her SP she does well, like Alina’s FS. Apart from that, for the FS, there’s no theory there as opposed to my highly superstitious one for Alina [emoji23]
