Alina Zagitova

Alina is looking good today guys  Going for the 3Lz-3Lo-3Lo-3Lo-3Lo even with the fall is giving me Olympic vibes! She seems a lot more confident here than at Euros

Sameee! And Olympic vibes are giving me a goosebombs!! She must be in brutal shape if she is trying five triples combo ... Can't wait to see some videos of here. I only read everywhere that she look better then whole season (some are even saying that better than ever!).

This video is on many sites on Instgram at the moment and it‘s said to be from today‘s practice. I‘m not too sure, though, since we didn‘t hear about this combo from the practice notes and the arena looks like last year‘s Worlds in Milan... Either way, glad Alina is in great shape. The practice was really, really promising, especially since it was only shortly after she arrived. She seems to be in a better space both mentally and physically than the last couple of competitions. She can do this.

it's Milan. You can see Eterii in the back

Thank you, I was suspecting that. Such a shame, I was hoping someone had managed to sneak in to take some videos so we might be able to see more. :(

Well, either way: Have Eteri and Daniil arrived yet? At the airport it seemed to be just Alina and Dudakov. Maybe they‘ll fly tomorrow or later today.

Yes this is from Milan. I have this exact video in my camera roll from a year ago

Well, I have mentioned it earlier but now it is official. There is one thing that bothers me. Assiastant technical specialist for ladies is Kateřina Kamberská. She is Czech and often is a co-commentator of figure skating on Czech TV. And I really don't like her, she is obvious antifan of Eteri's school and Alina personally, her comments about her are literally awful/disrespectful this season, not only from personal perspective but she also made some completely false claims about her team - I believe I gave some examples already. So I'm not sure how her presence in tech panel will affect Alina's scoring. On the "positive" note, Kamberská is often disrespectful to many other skaters in her comments also (but always notices somethong positive about japanese skaters).

I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with each function in the technical panel. What is the power of the assistant technical specialist?
Can she call for underrotations and edges on her own?

Just from wiki:
...primary purpose (of assistant tech specialist) is to take written notes on all of the elements performed and to contribute to any decisions on technical calls during the "review of elements".

I have to admit..the entire day I had a smile on my face, even when things got tough at work, because all this content with Alina is happy and inspiring. :luv17:

I am looking again and again at her arrival video, and she sends such positive vibes, is relaxed and smiling, and it's obvious she is feeling great in Japan. Her adoptive country, which always feels for her like a second home.

And then, going straight to practice (our girl really means business), and reading what an amazing practice she had. Even the crazy 3Lz+3Lo+3Lo++++ combos are back! She was always in great shape, but now she seems to be in top-notch Olympic champion physical shape, and I am glad to see this. Combined with the confident and calm attitudine that we've seen, it could be a lethal combination.

I just hope that she'll have two skates that will make her feel proud, happy and will show everything that our amazing lady can show on the ice. And the Worlds to end with a standing ovation after this program:

Mm...this doesn't sound too good. Is she the same commentator that you were always complaining? If so, I am having a moral dillemma regarding this...I don't feel it's right that persons who judge the most important FS competitions to be allowed to also comment about these skaters on TV (public), especially when they are not able to prove neutrality and kindness towards all the skaters.:scratch2:

Yes, it is her. As I've said, it is not only about Alina, e. g. during last Euros she nearly made a mock of Anita Ostlund after her close to disaster FP. She is really very unpleasant person, at least as a commentator.

Thanks for bringing the thread back on positive rail :)

That judge there was an interview with posted on the Edge a week (?) or so ago is THE commentator on Norwegian Eurosport. She might have a companion with her but she's been there since literally at least 2001 world's (my earliest viewing memory of her) and every euros/world's since? Until the internet this was the only person I ever heard commentate. I find it really weird that she's a judge because through almost 20 years I heard her make razor sharp distinctions between "artists" and "technical skaters" and then of course those that have both. (Guess what Alina was referred to during PC:slink:.)

I guess ultimately this really shows how human and biased judges are, but I think it would be better if they kept it more distinct. Hopefully Ms. Kamberská will be fair! :frown::agree:

On another note, I just saw the 3lz3t3lo3lo.... Someone isn't here to play:devil:

Agree. People sometime forgot that Liza was able to add 3A in not junior age. Both Alina and Zhenya are still eligible to compete at juniors, Alina for a couple of years. She is not competing there only because she is good enough to be senior, but it doesn't do her older. She is just a very little older than 3A and she has an advantage that she already had a major body changes. I always compare figure skating with gymnastics. There, girls can compete in seniors since 16. And look, the very best is still Simone Biles who is 22. She wasn't replaced by any junior despite a full year off, and whats more, she add new, more difficult skills. She was age eligible to compete at seniors in London 2012, and she didn't make a team because she wasn't prepare enough. And look at her now. Alina is definitelly able to learn new skills. It's up to her. But it's very bold to say 16yo girl who is second best senior in the world now, despite all her troubles, that she is done. Also for me, she is not only brutal jumper but very complex skater.

This year is perfect example, that it's hard to predict anything. Russia has a huge number of amazing skaters and look, Sofia who didn't break a 200 before Europeans, made a team. It doesn't matter if favorites failed at Nats or someone had health issues. She made a team and she also made a GPF & she deserve it. Also not every junior girl automatically do well in seniors, look at Polina Truskaya, she was the best junior too, but she is strugling in seniors.

One thing is for sure, next year will be huge battle in Russian camp. But Alina is not done. She is able to compete with everybody, if she wants to.
Lisa had 3A since 12-13 yo, it takes certain body strength and structure combined with right technique to do 3A, so not the same story. Even Eteri said it was easier for them (her students, at least 3) to do a quad instead. Replying to other post: Alina is not learning a quad lz or flip, they ve tried it but mostly for fun for Japanese tv, it became obvious after JTv show. Also about Sofia making the team with low scores ...this year only one of Eteri’s students was a competition -Alina, next year there will be 3 Alina will have to deal with. I really don’t know how she can be so strong mentally. Kihira, Liza Tuk, Alena K do 3A, Rika and Liza Turs landed quads at practice already, Anya and Sasha do 2-3 quads at competitions, its gonna be crazy next year.
I think Alina CAN learn a quad flip, and their whole group is gonna practice 3A so id rather her do that.ofc her opponents are gonna be also unstable and will have puberty knocking on their door one day too. Whishing Alina all the luck, stability in skating and new beautiful programs i cant wait to see
