Alina Zagitova

I think there was some connection with her dad. Maybe he played for a hockey team they sponsored? I vaguely remember some interview I read (via Google translate) where he talked about how tough things were when Alina first went to Moscow. Staying with friends and two hour commutes on unreliable public transportation to and from the rink. He said that he approached Tatneft and asked for their help and they 'hadn't forgotten him'.

i don't know what exactly Tatneft provides but I'm pretty sure they got the much maligned (in the Japanese media) apartment for Alina and her grandmother close to the rink.

If that's the case it's wonderful they were willing to help our her dad at the beginning. Certainly they were under no obligation to, could have had very little expectation of any return on their investment, and her dad was not a star in the hockey world.

I think so too.

I think that Alina’s father worked for them back before becoming an hockey trainer.
Tatneft found a small apartment for Alina and her grandmother in Moscou but now I think Alina has her own apartment, bigger and near the rink.

I wonder what she means by that, it sounds exciting! I can't wait!

I'm also thinking about thaat. What she means by that. I know that skaters usually have a solo numbers, so maybe she has a brand new exhibition number? Also I'm looking forward to see her in group numbers, last year, she showed the world there how amazing lines and smooth moves she has! :) Something which is not that much seen in choreos! :) She is so brilliant skater and wonderfull dancer!

I should probably add - Tatneft, the sponsor that was there from the very beginning and made it possible for Alina and her grandmother to live in Moscow and for Alina to train with Eteri! Back when nobody had a clue about the skater she would turn out to be!

Talk about backing the right horse!

Raise a glass to Tatneft! We fans owe them a lot!:cool2:

:thank::medal"

I love those stories!! That's so nice! I have a goosebombs sometime when I read a stories which was behind the succes of an athlete. Isn't it unbelievable that someone help a very small girl to train in a top group, despite no huge expectation or profits for them. More, she broke her leg and arm short after and they've stayed with her. And just a couple of years later, she is standing here as the National Junior Champion, Junior GPF winner, European Youth Olympic Festival Champion (which is something like ECH for juniors, take place every 2 years), Junior World Champion, National champion, GPF Champion, European Champion, Olympic Gold Medalist and finally, World champion and international star known far beyond figure skating borders representing worldwide brands like Puma.

from Alina interview

Wow...we love the current Alina and I am sure we will love the new Alina, too

Also after Worlds, Daniil said that the music for her next season's SP and FP is already known, and that they are very new styles, especially the FP. I am so anxious to find out her new programs :yahoo:

Oh yes I'm very curious about her new programs. I would love to see her to do something a little more, let's say, modern, dancy? She is fierce and exceptional dancer, powerful, I think something like Lara Croft style should be damn good way for her SP! What you guys would like to see her to do? :)

Anyway I'm not worried about her programs at all. POTO seems a little strange in the begining for many people, It was hard also for her as she doesn't understand a story well, but in the end? It was fantastic, she was telling story, not skating to the music! (Which only I few skaters is able to do and at the age of 16, that's unbelievable for me) You only watch her and follow the story that intensively, that you forgot about the music cuts. So really can't wait!!

I also think that her team surely knows what is the right step for Alina's development. She interpreted so many different characters, and was so good at it, it's insane. From now on, I hope that we will see Alina Zagitova on the ice, showing her own emotions and feelings, I think she is ready for this big step, towards the definition of her own style.

I also hope for something more alert, how you've said, dancy, I think it would really suit her, in the SP. And something lyrical, maybe with a dramatic touch, for the FP. She is very expressive, and can convey many emotions through her movements, all these strenghts can make for an unforgettable performance, like all her current and past programs also did.
