Alina Zagitova

Sounds good! Templars had a treasure (they say), treasure of our order is Alina :)

This seems relevant with your post (stolen from twitter) -

The announcer said "Jouou Zagitova". Jouou (女王) means "queen". In Japanese, if you are a ladies' World champion you are called "Sekai jouou" (世界女王), and if ladies' Olympic champion, "Olympic jouou" (オリンピック女王). Alina is now the definition of "the Jouou".

I just had a thought..
Imagine how cool it would be if Alinka skated to a James Bond medley ;) She could definitely pull off that cool aesthetic.

I thought the same. I know Skyfall has been done a lot but I love that song. From Russia With Love is kind of a cliche but I would still love it. :)

What am I saying? We all know Daniil will edit a medley of Bond songs together! Live and Let Die must be included!

I just thought of the perfect avatar for Alina's Exhibition performance this year - Harley Quinn! She could have so much fun with that! And Daniil could edit together a medley of songs from the movie and choreograph a crazy routine!

You Don't Own Me is a great song and nice outlet for some of the teenage rebellion Alina was feeling this season.

Someone who speaks Russian please message Daniil for me and make this happen.

Shiseido probably won't approve, but it's all about me and what I want! :)

I think, Daniil can speak english.

Diana with Gleb skated to James Bond theme this season. Even if they are in different team and in different discipline, I'm afraid some people would still make a comments that Daniil/Eteri's playlist is limited

Unless you want Yuna stans going after Alina, I'd avoid James Bond. Panenkova did James Bond a while back too under Eteri. I don't think her skating and team Eteri's literal choreography would fit James Bond TBH. It would probably be fine for an exhibition.

Wakaba did JB last year and no one had any issues with it

You know what? I don't care about those some people! They will have problems with everything. If she will do something classic, they would scream it's warehorse and they can't give her something new. Ballet? hidden behing tutu. Romantic? lack of expression. Very modern? lack of story. Something latin? she can't dance! And if she dare to come with rock or something, that would be totally disaster. So she can do whatever she/her team likes to. :luv17:

I'm a little affraid Alina is not Wakaba. Alina is always compared with everyone. Remember her Carmen wasn't good enough in comparison with Witt? Katarina herself said that in her generation, she was allowed to stay in the middle like half of the program and literally flirt with the audience, today, skating is totally different. And she was right. Both program was the best in their respective generation. And I'm so glas she acklowledge Alina after her win! It was like one legend is welcoming another in the club. With so much people constancly making Alina lack of anything (yes, I open twitter after a while this morning and saw all those "the fact that you can jump doesn't mean you can skate" stuffs from Wagner again), it was amazing that she, the one who's accomplishements can be compared with Alina's, did that. Alina admire her and watch her Carmen for inspiration.

So whatever program she will do and it will not be brand new for fiigure skating, she will be compared. If it will be brand new, than she will be compared with something in similar style.

(Btw - for me her POTO was in the end the best POTO program ever so far! She really portraited it brilliantly. Some people don't like a music cuts, I kinda started to like them, but she really performed it fantasticly! I don't think I ever saw better transformed POTO onto ice. How she change from dramatic to soft, hats off guys, hats off.)

Just remember the legendary skaters that have congratulated and spoken well of Alina.

Katerina Witt (who you just mentioned)
Aliona Savchenko
Evgeny Plushenko
Alexei Yagudin
Robin Cousins (in his commentary during the Worlds LP)

And I know there are more.
These are just the top of my head.
But these are an all-star lineup.

So when you see a negative comment like you mentioned above,
think of the Sesame Street song....

"One of these is not like the others"

That's probably the best description of Alina's critics :)

Based upon the reactions to POTO and Carmen throughout this season,
I am hoping the critics hit her with everything they've got next season.

It will probably mean another World Championship for Alina.
:points:

It seems like every thing she does gets blown up into some huge issue.

Remember when she didn't get to go to Bratislava? It was a conspiracy. :drama:

There was an entire multi-page thread in The Edge forum devoted to her tights half covering her boots. Not a very nice thread either.

The micro-blading of the eyebrows. :rolleye:

:palmf:

The last thing I want is Yuna stans coming for Alina! I was hoping that enough time had passed that it wouldn't trigger them. Maybe since she just did Carmen they would perceive it as Alina paying tribute to the legends that came before her? One can hope.

At any rate - no angering Yuna stans please! They scare me!

I know there are more, I goes only with Katarina Witt, because I spoke about Carmen. Real legends appreciate her! It's amazing acomplishment and it's not about age. In every age there are special issues you must deal with, every single body is different. And also not every 15-16 yo skater is able to do what Alina already did. And those people know what they are talking about!

I mean, everybody should have personal preferences. There are skaters which I personally don't enjoy much too. But It's sad that not everybody have a bit of respect for others accomplishements. But this is probably just by product of succes. When someone is damn succesful, those voices are stronger. Glad Alinka already learn better, how to deal with it!! :)
