Alina Zagitova

Guys...with WTT being now over (some great performances here! :eeking:), and the season unfortunately being close to its end, Alina remains the record holder for both FS and Total score. What a great season we had!:luv17:

Vivat! Bravo!

When I think of certain people calling her season 'unsuccessful' I want to scream. She missed one podium all season long when she was skating injured. One. There are top skaters who would have killed for that season. I guess it's the price you pay when your prior season was undefeated (until the very end) and you won the top prize of them all. Anything less than perfection is unacceptable. Next season I hope everyone (and by everyone I mean Rus FS elite!) lets her live and just appreciates what she brings!

You are completely right, as usual. Just want to note that the podium she missed was taken by the revolutionary juniors. Among age-eligible skaters, she was second, so she would have taken silver among the seniors. So I don’t consider that competition a failure at all. She won the SP, after all, and skates with a burn. Alina is brilliant and a formidable competitor. I am so happy that she won Worlds with a bang (13-14 points ahead), because I hope that will end all the nonsense that is written about her.

Hopefully her convincing victory at Worlds against an amazingly strong field does just that.
Truly impressive victory.

Same do I ! Only 1st and 2nd in all international competitions, Worlds title, record holder in both FS and Total Score. It was a great post-Olympic season for Alina, and she is starting this new Olympic cycle as the main contender.

Thank you for the video! :thank: Watching parts from all the medal ceremonies of this season remembers me about how we felt at each and every competition. It was an emotional rollercoaster for us too, and I can't imagine how difficult it was for Alina. But Worlds came, as a redemption, and everything was set into place. (also someone was writing about the beautiful symmetry between Alina's two senior seasons, and he couldn't be more right)

Now that the season is really Over™ I can say that my favorite element of the season is Alina's Carmen step sequence, and my favorite iteration of it was at World's. It conveys something to me that not only "fits/suits" the music, but something that I feel she conveys across language, culture, expression, even if I can't put my words on it I still know exactly what it is (this makes no sense lol). :laugh2:

Anyway, in addition to being the reigning Olympic and World Champ she is also the owner of Fool's fave element of 2018-2019!

Plushenko supports Alina!
- Roman Kostomarov suggested that Alina Zagitova would be better off completing a career. Do you agree?

- I do not follow those who say and write. I do not want to touch this dirt. There is a specific athlete who must make decisions; this is his career and his life. Alina has already become an Olympic champion, perhaps she wants to become a multiple Olympic champion. Who can forbid her? Leave is the easiest. This can be done at any time. Especially since she has already written herself in the story. But to go out and prove that you can still, as Alina did at the World Championships - this is really difficult and hard. And if you learn to quadruple jumps, then it will be generally cool.

“Is she capable of that?”

“It is clear from her skating that yes, I’m not just saying this.” I believe that Zagitova can go to the next Olympiad and win it. Growth is not a problem at all, it's nonsense. Everything is possible, if properly trained and prepared. An athlete must have faith in the coach, and vice versa. I do not think that Zagitova should be finished. My opinion is that you can and should ride for a long time, if you have strength and health.

Remember, Plushenko believed that Alina would win in Pyeongchang too ;) He knows!

Thank you Evgeny Plushenko!

The video of Alina's appearance on the Urgant show has racked up approximately 400,000 views in two days! I think the record is supposedly 600,000 views in a week for the video of Tom Cruise and Olga Kurylenko. Let's see how many more views Alina's video gets in 5 more days.

Of course all the credit will go to Masaru! ;)

So much to address....

Well, I believe Evgeny Plushenko is correct about Alina.
Both that she should continue to compete AND that she will be fully capable of winning Olympic Gold again in 2022 Beijing.

I didn't know Tom Cruise was on Urgant's talk show?!?!!!

I used to think that Tom Cruise jumping up and down on a couch yelling at Oprah was the most bizzare thing I ever saw on a talk show.

And then Masaru decides to "moon" the audience during Alina's interview, while wearing Alina's tutu!!!!

I'm going to declare it a tie.:dance3:
