Alina Zagitova

>_> this literally applies to like, every senior lady skating in these shows. They all say they want to learn quads, they're all doing challengers, they all have some kind of fed preview/camp before that. I don't see why you're making an exception for 1 skater and not the others.

No, I dont remember Liza Tuk to say that she wants to learn quads. And she is not doing the show in July-August. As far as I know, her training camps are not in the same time with the shows. As for Evgenia I dont think she is doing the show July-August either, at least it hasnt been announced up now.

Alina did a lot of shows last year too, including The Ice in July-August. I don’t think this is a problem.

Well , we will see what it is happening. Usually Eteri's team have holiday in May, so Alina will have like 1-2 months of training, in total, during the summer, before Test skates and maybe a Challenger in September.
Not to add that she wants to learn a quad? or not?

Alina participated in quite a few ice shows last season as well, there's no special reason or conspiracy. She's the world's best skater at the moment, possibly the best in a long time. She's the one and only Olympic champion, and newly crowned World champion. She's easily the most marketable, most in demand skater and there's no reason for her to decline ice shows which pay really well. Furthermore Japan is a place she's always felt comfortable skating. The ice shows span about a month from May to June, she has the rest of the time to train so I don't get what's the fuss in all honesty.

Also, whether she wants to learn a quad, I don't think its anyone's business to be questioning whether she wants it enough. Or speculating whether she's putting in enough hours to get to her goal. Ironic that people jump at idea of Alina learning 4F in harness during the season and then expect her to practice it now in the off season without rest. If she wants a holiday, she should get a holiday, and if she wants time off, she should take the time off. She's certainly deserved it. It's called the OFF season for heaven's sake. Skaters are humans not machines, lord let a girl breathe. Rest in the offseason is integral to this sport, if she wants longevity. Clearly if she's doing the shows then Team Tutberidtze probably okay-ed it, and they're the ones working with her on the regular. They know her ability, and they know how much time and practice she will need in the interim to prepare for next season.

She didnt do the shows in May-June though... Last season, the training camp began on 4th of June, but maybe now begins later. We will have to wait to see.
Though, i totally understand Alina if she wants to take a longer break like a season off or something like that.

Dude literally no one has said she's taking the SEASON off. She's literally at Sambo right now training for the upcoming show, but her team also has made preparations for the next season. She herself has never said she's taking a season off. Will people at the very least stop jumping to conclusions about this. Maybe she won't do CS, or she won't do GPF –– She certainly doesn't NEED to, but there's no reason to assume that she's going to be skipping the season unless she or her team makes the statement such.

I think its really rude that people keep assuming that she's retiring, or she's skipping a season or anything just based off their own baseless assumptions. The offseason literally just started. Can we not rehash the same few statements from last season, over and over and over again.

To skip a season =this is a possibility, I didnt say that this will happen, as I dont have this information obviously.
But in case she takes the season off, it is totally understandable, as she had 2 difficult seasons, especially from an emotional point of view and she already won everything.
She deserves to have a normal life, to eat what she wants whenever she wants, to go to every hockey game that takes place, or just have some good rest. Of course, she is the one who knows what she wants to do in the future.

Alina didn't say she wants to learn quads, all she said about that matter was "we'll see" and even if she does start learning them soon, I think it will certainly be easier for her at 16-17 years old than for a 22 year old Liza or 19 year old Med.
As for the ice shows, don't worry about Alina not getting enough training time at Sambo... She'll be fine and ready for the next season

Actually Alina is not doing that much show as her competitors currently. See Rika, she skates nonstop since Words. She did every show possible, then go to WTT and then go to shows again. Evgenia was also touring, than go to Russia and now is touring again. Liza was doing SOI as well. To Fantasy on ice was added all 3 of them - Alina, Zhenya as well as Liza. Rika is there too.

Alina is currently in Sambo prepping for Eteri's show but she is in her club, so she is normally training what her team thing it's best for her. Daniil said in interview that when she came back from Japan, she came to the rink and start training as usually. Also confirm that they are going for 3A (as he said it's not mandatory in their group but yes they are looking that way, that Anna and Sasha are jumping 3A in harmess very day at practice too, only Alena is not due to injury). They confirm seeking for quads few time before already. But they know what it's needed to be done. It's her goal in the first place. She is very well awared that time when she will need it will come, and she is determined to react. So we needs to trust her. If Alina herself things her shows are ok, than they are ok. I don't think her team wants to write her of, too. They are now kinda criticized for using only young skaters, Alina seems to have nice relationship with them all. They don't need to listen everywhere how they only use her and while they have something better and younger they kick her out. They will give her an amazing programs and she will learn them the best she can. Everyone will be helpful. If she will be able to do 4 or 3A she will do it, if not, she will not or add it later.

But late summer shows can be good for a lot of reasons. It take a pressure of a bit again after tough preparation. It's fun for her, she likes it and she don't needs to be nervous. She also can debute there her new programs, which is a big advantage as a pressure is not that huge there. Other thing is that shows are developing skills too. Also other skaters will be still adding into shows. She is not even a bit under average. Don't worry about that.

As always, please forgive any google translate errors, and please feel free to correct them

Alina Zagitova: “I would not have achieved such success if it were not for my family”

Olympic champion in figure skating Alina Zagitova told bunshun.jp in an interview about her motivation to continue her career:

“I won the gold medal at the Olympics in Pyeongchang, and they give me more attention, but my life has not changed much. I am the same as before the Olympics. However, in the time elapsed from Pyeongchang to the World Cup this year, I gained a lot of experience. It was hard, but now I think it was the time I needed to win this year.

I liked to stand on the podium and receive medals from childhood. For this reason, I can survive the hard training days, when I stand on the podium with a good performance, I feel that I want to achieve even better results. This is the biggest motivation for me. There are many cases where you cannot solve a problem easily, or when you cannot do it well, even if you know the right solution.

Since childhood, my parents have always said that there is a saying that “you can’t easily catch a fish from a pond”. This I always kept in mind. Of course, I would not have achieved such success if it were not for my family. If you want to do something, believe that you can do it, then your dreams will come true.

I draw pictures, lead instagram and play with my beloved dog Masaru, but now I don’t have a good rest. I can't even imagine a life without figure skating, I live a life full of figure skating. It is important to build up this path, and I want to show programs without mistakes, like in the 17/18 season, it's good to skate and make the audience happy. "

Thank you, guys, for your comments. After reading all of them, i feel more positive regarding Alina's prospects next season.

If Alina’s taking the time to do all of these shows then she must really enjoy doing them. That’s what’s most important. I mean she trains non-stop at crystal. It must be a nice break to get away from her training rink

The YouTube video of Alina's appearance on the Urgant show has over 709,000 views on it! :luv17:
