Alina Zagitova

First impressions of "Me Voy":

Beautiful, mature and emotional already and with so much potential for future improvement

I'm telling you, this program is going to make me cry one day :)

She did all the jumping passes that are required for a competitive SP, except the fact that the 3Lz was a single jump and not in a combination, which was understandable because she gave the 3Lutz too much power. As I wrote on the Edge, it was a good decision because she landed a big jump and kept her performance clear, not to mention prevented possible injury if she had fallen on the combo. But the Lutz was really really big. I had to pause it and count the rotations, not that I missed some additional rotation ;)

According to spectators, during second show Alina did the program with full 3Lz-3Rittberger combo.

Yep! And she also did 3Lz3Lo3Lo multiple times in practice :luv17:

Good to see her in such good form this early in the season after struggling quite a bit with growth last year. Her Lz looks a lot better than last year too, less prerotation much better toe pick assist that resulted in a much bigger jump as well. Personally noticed it at Worlds too where she began to rely more on her leg strength in jumping passes than before (the common criticism of Eteri girls that they pull back too much on the arms and rely on the arms more). It’s good to see her really come into her own now with the jumps and making them better with time.

I also think she was wise not to do he Lo combination during the first outing considering it was a bit of a splat fest for some of the Japanese ladies according to reports? I think there were quite a few falls. Sometimes ice conditions are not ideal, which is even more important in Loop jumps and Loop combinations (I believe the king of the Quad Loop himself Yuzuru has said something to that effect regarding ice conditions and loops, could be at Helsinki GP last year) She made the call not to do the Loop right then and that kind of thinking on the spot will certainly help her in the future in really determining what works and what wouldn’t in each scenario. Its also a skill that really only experience can buy.

She did, I even saw a video! I think it's also on team zagitova ig. It was perfect! And during pratice was doing 3lz-3lo-3lo. :)

I think the new sp is pretty good in terms of potential. I definitely look forward to seeing it again more than I did with her sp last year. I hope to see Alina tap in more into the emotions of the music especially the musical accents and the step seq looks like it needs more choreo details. Also glad to see all the jumps are still pretty solid.

I'm sad The Ice is over, but time to move on to the next excitement! As always a million thanks to Japan, for being a beautiful and amazing country. I'm grateful to have been provided with a tiny window into some aspects of their culture through their generosity toward Alina.

Thank you to the Japanese media for being such super fans! The kindness and respect you continue to give Alina is touching. Also, their genuine affection for her.

Thank you to all the Japanese skating fans who shared their experiences and enthusiasm on twitter. It's the next best thing to being there for all of us fans on the other side of the world.

Thank you to all the other skaters who participated and shared their fun moments with us. May you all stay healthy and happy.

I love being Alina's fan and it wouldn't be nearly as enjoyable without all of the love shown from Japan! :luv17:

Aiinas new shorty is sensational! So different and so mature. I commend her for doing something that's risky. Her interpretation in this piece is wonderful. It's amazing to see how much she's grown on all levels in the last 3 or 4 years. And she's doing all this while puberty has hit her. It hasn't slowed her down much at all.

Alina looks to be ready for the new season and new challenges. :)

after watching all the athletes, I have to say most of them tend to lose their shape during shows? a lot of pops and falls or doubled jumps from other girls.
And Alina goes and does 3lz-3lo-3lo like it's nothing!

A new article with the help of Google translate -

Zagitova is changing. Her new short - departure from the classics in the avant-garde

“I'm leaving” is a gentle, touching story of love and separation, recorded by an Israeli singer in Spanish in 2005.
The choice is original and bold: a shrill melody, a story taking for the soul, but perhaps too powerful an emphasis on vocals - for figure skating it is always a risk to stay in its shadow.

It is clear that the first version of the program is partially sketchy, because they seriously worked on it for less than a month. Alina did not even jump the cascade (instead of her only triple lutz), she was noticeably cautious on the steps track (as long as it was the rawest part of the program), did not follow the number of revolutions on the rotations. In the show, these details do not matter - for Zagitova and the team, sensations, accents, experiments are more important now.

Already now - 2.5 months before the main rentals - the program looks complete. And unusual - the atmosphere of the show room, it seems, will continue, even when the spotlights will go off, and the usual size of the rink will return.

Perhaps this short one is the most interesting experiment of the season. Nothing similar in Zagitov’s career has yet been rolled over - earlier classical performances were selected for her, and Me Voy is an obvious attempt to go into the vanguard, to create a trend in figure skating that no one else touched.

Zagitov is changing, you have not seen her like that - the main message from Tutberidze before the season, which promises strong plots.

Me Voy is a program on which a lot will depend.
