Thirty-three words from the life of an Olympic champion
Friends, finally, the new school year has arrived, which means that all the 'beggars', the poor people and those who sympathise with them, will return to their workplaces after the holidays and it will be a little quieter the "FS" section.
Maybe this year at least they will be taught how to distinguish between the meaning of words, they will learn that, for example, the verb flaunt ("I flaunt Zhenya") has nothing to do with playing back the sound of hand palms.
Recently, I often tie posts to some significant date, and September 1 is just one of those. The main association with this day: ABC, children's primers, in extreme cases, dictionaries. The format is already there, it only remains to figure out how to connect it with Figure Skating, and then difficulties began (and in general this post turned out to be a difficult path). There were such options:
1) “Dictionary of FS terms” I decided this makes no sense, these are so well known to everyone, and is has already done before.
2) "The ABC - why we love figure skating" Supposedly Q stands for quadruple.
But somehow everything turned out to be too encyclopaedic, and my idea was only to do some light stylisations using the encyclopaedia.
3) “To tell the meanings of some words rarely used in real life by the example of skaters and situations associated with them" Could turn into a course for h'a'ters. Boring.
4) “Unusual, aphoristic words that came to us from FS”, such as: Kozleton, Puhopad, Tuktovoz, Khlyzdit. Or these words in real life where they have different meaning from FS: Amok, Dupel, Bomb (especially bright skater), Wicket (exit point for privileged persons). Fur coat (toeloop) by the way, in the dictionary of jerks (there is one), means - "strange behaviour under the influence of drugs. The behavior of a crazy person. " Very accurate definition.
Interestingly, the problem is that 33 words did not work out.
5) Alphabetical preview of the season. K - Krasnoyarsk - the place where the bloom of female single skaters will flower in the 19/20 season (by the way, is anyone planning to rush to Krasnoyarsk in December? (for Russian Nationals)). Also, there aren't enough words, and it is too early for a preview.
6) The most "stubborn" - Alphabet in the format of "League of bad jokes." For example, the letter YA. What (or rather, who) will happen if we crossbreed the pride of the parrot Yago and the jumping ability of Aladdin? - YAgudin. Well, that’s what it means for myself, first one needs to learn how to joke normally ...
However somehow it did't properly come together, but I didn't want to loose the 'alphabetical format' so I thought: " Why not build a respectful post around a person about whom I can always write at least 33 words? "
Moreover, dedicated postings about Alina have not been done here since May, and the new format is just a great reason for this. Here, too, there was a choice, it was possible to create the alphabet of qualities that characterise Alina: G - Grace, M - Modesty, and so on. Or how her work affects fans: A - Admires, M - Motivates (“Be yourself”, etc.). However after re-reading, postings in the form: one letter - one word, are likely to get boring when it comes to convenience, clarity and thesis specifics. So after some time, I decided on this general theme: “Words that played a prominent role in Alina’s life or career.”
There was not enough time to ready by September 1, I had to do everything in express mode, at the end of which it was already difficult to adequately think: would it work out or not. It seemed to me (or didn’t seem) that it wouldn’t, and I decided not to post this. But then the news broke that Alina visited the Knowledge Day school lineup, which again made me change my mind. Let not it not be ready by the first of September, but at least by the first academic week.
In short, we got this mix from the alphabet, dictionary and encyclopaedia. From the first there are pictures, from the second - the meaning of words (they are already well known to everyone, but purely for the format), from the third - some small facts, if we are talking about a city or a name.
33 letters, let's go.
Alina is a first name for females
The history of the origin of this name is rather confusing: it is written somewhere it was borrowed from Western European languages at the beginning of the 20th century (English Aline, German Alina, French Aline), somewhere - that it's Russian, derived from Angelina. But I was interested not so much in the history but rather in its significance. So, also depending on the country, it has different meanings, although the essence is roughly the same everywhere. So, translated from Latin Alina means “other”, “different”. In addition, there is a possibility that this is a form of the Latin name Albina, which is translated (from the Latin “albus”) as “white”, “light”.
The name Alina is also common in Scandinavia, where it is considered a form of the name Adeline (such an elegant bridge from one Olympic champion to another), meaning “noble”, “generous”, “majestic”. In Slavic countries, it is associated with the word "scarlet" and the artistic images of "Scarlet Sails" and "Scarlet Flower", that is, with the expectation of happiness and hope. In Scotland, the name Alina is interpreted as “honest” and used as a pair with the male name Alistair. In Greece - it means "sunbeam", and in the eastern countries (from Arabic: Ali) - "elevated, high".
Usually, bearers of the name Alina are characterised by pronounced creative abilities, in addition, these girls are stubborn. Alina is so capable that sometimes she can direct her obstinacy into a peaceful direction and achieve outstanding success in life. She is suitable for such professions that require perseverance / hard work to achieve the goal: engineers, musicians, athletes, doctors, journalists, actresses.
“Grand Slam” is a special term for certain major achievements in sports. In figure skating, this means having victories in the four main tournaments: Grand Prix Finals, Continental Championships, World Championships and Olympic Games.
Among single skaters, there are only 5 "GS" titulars - three of them men. Among women, the first and, until recently, only skater with four titles is Yu-Na Kim. However, the Korean woman needed 4 seasons for this achievement, while Alina needed only two.
A very rare and extraordinary achievement, both because of the difficulty in collecting all the tournaments, and because of the fact that the Olympic Games are only held every 4 years, that is, purely physically there will never be very many holders of the “GS” title. And each of them is truly a unique athlete.
Inspiration - the state of highest uplift of mental strength
Absolutely each of Alina’s programs is filled to brim with inspiration, because she loves her sport with all her heart. This is noticeable both in the way she plunges into images and in the emotions on her face, where pure pleasure is clearly expressed (especially during demonstration performances, is the competitions it is still 'want to - don’t want to', and the pressure is crushing).
When once in her childhood there was the possibility she had to quit with figure skating, Alina burst into tears with the words: “Figure skating is my life.” This scene above all else demonstrates what “FS” means to her. And in the end, if it did not inspire her, she would see only an instrument on the path to fame or fortune in it, there would be no post-Olympic season, but there is one, and the second will start soon.
Not so long ago, another great athlete, Kobe Bryant, wrote a message about his sport, and if you paraphrase it a little, it seems to me that it would suit Alina too:
As soon as I stepped on the ice, I clearly understood one thing - I love you. And this passion was so strong that I gave you all of myself: my thoughts, body and consciousness. My soul. Little girl in love with figure skating, I just glided over the ice, jump after jump, for your sake. You demanded that I give you my best, and I gave you my heart, and I received so much more in return. I overcame fatigue and pain, not because it was a challenge, but because you asked for it. I did everything for you, because that's what you do when something helps you to feel so good. You fulfilled the dream of a little girl. My forever favourite figure skating.
And these are Alina’s real words: “Sometimes, when something doesn’t work out, I think I want to give up everything and live an ordinary life. But then I think: “How will I live an ordinary life? I saw the whole world thanks to the work that I love.”
What is even more valuable: Alina herself inspires fans, hence all this creativity from their hands: drawings, letters, dolls, crafts and other things. It is an important fact that this chain of inspiration is not lost in the void, but closes itself at the starting point: Alina more than once posted photos with the gifts presented to her. Some of them, such as earrings made by one of her Japanese fans, she wears with pleasure.
And for some Zagitova is not just a source of inspiration, but a real muse.
Gleikhengauz Daniil - Russian figure skater, now a trainer and director of staging programs working at the Sambo-70 Sports and Education Center, Khrustalniy figure skating department, in the group of Eteri Tutberidze. Creates an incredible number of programs for skaters during the season, while at the same time, each of them is staged to the highest level.
As was written in a recent article on "sports": The coach who created Alina Zagitova. Too brash a phrase, a person as a whole always creates himself, it is only possible to help him in this. And Gleikh helped, helped a lot, just like the other trainers of Khrustalniy. Including the mother of Daniil, blessed her memory. “Her hand” was clearly noticeable in all of Alina’s programs because all of them were literally ballet on ice.
Fate brought several talented people together in one place, and thanks to this, we have witnessed several masterpieces of real art.
Don Quixote - Alina Zagitova's free program in the 16/17 and 17/18 seasons. The image of the program was so vivid that since then the phrase “red ballet tutu” has become associated exclusively with Alina.

So many different words have been said about this masterpiece, this "celebratory" program, there is nothing more to add. Therefore, I will simply quote the publication “Physical Culture and Sport” from January 18th:
“A small masterpiece, the amazing “ Don Quixote ” goes very much with the athlete and leaves few people indifferent. ”
As noted by Yulia Lipnitskaya, music with every accent seems to encourage Alina, instilling confidence in her. That smile with which the skater begins her ballet on ice is worth a lot! ”
Indeed, it is. Like the brightly lit musical fountain that illuminates city streets after a long winter, Zagitova's Don Quixote, with a bright flash flooded the entire surroundings with light.
The letter “E” turned out to be not particularly suitable, or indeed any words, so let it be ...
Euro. Not in the sense of currency, but the European Championship - an annual competition among skaters from European countries.
It seems to me that the European Championship are a kind of springboard from which Alina “flew” to her highest achievements every time. It was something like an indicator: in the 17/18 season, having won Euro's just the month before the Olympics, having beaten her main rival, she finally understood: “I can fight her,” which probably gave her extra strength. And the Euro 18/19 season was the bell that announced: urgently need to change something. There was plenty of time, preparation for the more significant World Championship was excellent, and in the end everything turned out in the best possible way for her.
I wanted to do without negativity at all, but the insidious letter "F" made me slightly change my plans, there are also very few good words starting with F, «Ж» in Russian.
«Ж» = Жестокость one of its meanings is cruelty.
Cruelty is a manifestation of a rude (including inept) attitude and treatment of people (as well as other living beings), which may be accompanied by causing them pain and causing bodily or mental harm.
This word includes everything that Alina had to listen to and survive from February 18th to March 19th. You, of course, can do without it, but you can’t erase the words from the song, what was, it was. And, as it were, the fact that she was able to overcome this and win, being under such a pressure, increases the importance of her medals to the state of infinity. Even Ashley Wagner, who is not particularly aware of our realities, noted this: “I appreciate everything that she achieved. This year, every skater wanted to get around her, she had the status of Olympic champion, but she still won the world championship under such pressure - this is incredible. "

Zagitova - the surname.
It is difficult to speak about the specific information, place and time of the origin of the surname Zagitov, since the process of forming generic names has been going on for centuries. It is only clear that it, like a fairly large part of the Eastern surnames (and the names on the basis of which they are created) is borrowed from the Arabic and Persian languages along with the Muslim religion. Their long stay in different languages and dialects has led to the fact that the former alienness of many of them is forgotten, so that they are perceived as their own, national, representatives of all peoples professing Islam.
The surname Zagitov was formed from the old male personal name Zagid. This name comes from the Arabic language and means "holy, pious, humble." In general, it can be argued that this family naming is a clear evidence of the interaction of different national cultures.
And Alina herself is a living and breathing example of the interaction of both nationalities, countries and their cultures.
Izhevsk is a large administrative, industrial, commercial, scientific, educational and cultural center on the Volga near the Urals, capital of the Udmurt Republic.
It was founded more than 250 years ago, however, the first settlements at the site of its current location existed more than 2500 years ago. Hometown of Alina Zagitova.
Alina left Izhevsk for Moscow in 2015, but in her small homeland she is still remembered and loved very much.
After winning the Olympics, Alina’s former neighbours were so happy about this event, they decorated the champion’s front door with a poster. And very soon her image appeared on the facade of one of the houses of Izhevsk. “Why Alina Zagitova? Because she really is our property, she is smart, beautiful, you need to talk about her” said Nataliya Agafonova, chairperson of the housing council.
Yokohama is Japan's largest port city, the administrative center of Kanagawa Prefecture. Yokohama (横 浜) literally means "horizontal beach." Its Russian language spelling is different, in places it is used by Y, in places it’s just J.
A city where they love and wait for Alina no less than at home. Here, she has been participating in summer shows for more than a year and relaxes after her difficult seasons. And most importantly - here she saw Masaru for the first time.
Kaskade (in figure skating) - a cascade is a combination of several jumps, without change of legs between movements or regrouping.
Cascade triple Lutz - triple Rittberger is the spectacular decoration of Alina's programs, her visiting card. At it's time of execution, it was the most “valuable” cascade in women. And of course, one cannot help but recall that famous fateful “caboose” of the Rittberger to the Lutz at the end of her Olympic program, which allowed her to win well-deserved gold.
Love is a deep emotional attraction, a strong heart feeling
In contrast to cruelty. Yes, Alina had to go through a lot over the past year, but at the same time, ordinary people, fans love her like no one else. And they show, give their love on an unreal scale in completely different ways. She is not just a champion, she is also a champion of hearts.
In principle, in terms of love for her and in her influence, she is now comparable to some cult rock star. Influence is generally a special topic. Not so long ago there was a list of "the most influential people" (in my opinion, among Muslims), which also included Alina Zagitova. Many began to "snicker": who can be affected by a 17-year-old girl? Can. At the least, on her peers, for some of whom she has already become a "living example." And adults, too, are hearing, and to some extent even listen to, her words.
In general, in just a couple of moments this girl was able to attract attention and make millions of fans all over the world fall in love with her.
Masaru (translated from Japanese as “victory”) is Alina's dog, she is of the Akita Inu breed.

The word "Masaru" in itself is symbolic for Alina, but this not about the word itself, but about the creature that helped her to cope and move away from the negatives. Once, at a press conference (at the Russian or European Championships), Alina was asked something in the spirit: “Or maybe your lack of victories is due to the fact that your dog is bothering you?” At this she was even slightly offended, because, according to the mistress herself: “ Masaru is my joy, support and inspiration! She really feels my mood, always trying to amuse and reassure me. I start stroking her - the stress goes away, I want to smile. I return from training, and Masaru joyfully rushes and jumps at me. If at the beginning of her career Alina was often outside the top three, from the junior season 16/17 on, she practically always made top three, even in the most difficult periods. Over 20 different competitions, and only in two of them she didn't win a medal. And how many diplomas and awards of any kind she collected, she can't even count. In general, awards, rewarding and Alina Zagitova are already synonymous.

In fact, she had to overcome not only this, but also various injuries, for starters: arms and legs. she already once expressed the thought: it seems to me that the problem of some (not all) of those who start a conversation about “deserved / undeserved” is that the same “Don Quixote” is performed with such ease it creates a feeling, as if it really doesn't cost anything. She ran back and forth between the rink and diversions, jumped on and continued to have fun. And this is one of the key features of the program, which is why it catches. However, this "trick" made many forget about what was needed in order to show such a program, and how much pain and tears stood behind it.
And after that there was a skating run of the highest level with a burn on her foot and other unpleasant things. Inherent to many great performers, she didn't show her problems, not a single emotion was on her face. Alina’s entire career, in spite of its apparent ease, is a testimony of her perseverance.
Records - the highest success, achievement in any field of labour, economy, sport.
Alina and records are the same synonym as previously mentioned: Alina and rewardiNg.
Zagitova is the first and only skater to break the 82 point threshold in the short program according to the old judging system, and the first skater to score 80 points in the short program and more than 150 in the free program according to the new one. She once broke the world record in the short program under the old judging system and four times under the new one, and currently holds world records in the free program and in the total points.
Saitama is a city in Japan, the administrative center of Saitama Prefecture. Situated in the metropolitan area of Greater Tokyo.
As one of the odious personalities on the "sports" virtually sang: "So go ahead to the beautiful star SaitamOy."

Now they say that the revolution (or evolution) of figure skating technique began with Sasha or Elizabeth, but in fact this process began with Alina. It was after only her performances these hysterical cries were heard: “Jumping beans obsolete the 'mature female' ”, and it was because of this (in a good sense) that a number of rules were rewritten.
I again return to the “red ballerina”, what was shown there in the second half of the program is a real cosmos in terms of technology. This overwhelming, incredible number of jumps is amazing. Be sure to show this to everyone who believes that figure skating isn't a sport.
Success is the achievement of goals in the conceived activity, a positive result in anything. Public acceptance.
It is very pleasing that even such a busy person as the Prime Minister of Japan was able to allocate time for Alina in his schedule. This alone speaks volumes.
Alina is the personification of success. And success in its original understanding and meaning. One that has already begun to be forgotten in our country.
Often you have to hear the stories of various people who “exclusively independently” and honestly (according to them) have achieved what they have. But it’s worth digging a little deeper, and .... the history of their success is not so crystal clear. Alina is not one of those
She is a simple girl from the countryside, who achieved everything exclusively through her work and perseverance. High-ranking uncles and aunts did not come to her aid, rather on the contrary, but this did not prevent her from fulfilling her dream. This is a true success story.

Tail - the concept was originally invented by Nataliya Filimonova: "Zhenya competed, and the girl she brought on her tail won."
In general, in sports, and specifically in racing, there is a more beautiful definition of this concept, and it is called “slipstream”. This is when a car is ‘tailing’ the car in front and due to its aerodynamic flows, gets an advantage, subsequently often overtaking it in the very end.
But these words have nothing to do with Alina. Although more precisely, they have, but in the opposite sense, since she herself is the driving force, forcing her rivals to reach for themselves and show the maximum of their capabilities. Eteri confirmed this. That is, if there was a tail in this story, it is none other than Zagitova's.
Well, “Khrustalniy” is Alina’s alma mater. It is simply impossible to do without this word. Everyone knows perfectly well, and Alina herself said this, that it was the support of the coaches and people working there that helped her to be where she is now.
Flowers - herbaceous plants, at the time of flowering having a bright, often aromatic, bud or inflorescence blooming from a bud.
Remembering once again the story of “gratitude to the coach before leaving” and slightly paraphrasing the famous dictum, we can say: “Give the girls flowers”.
For a successful life, talent alone is often not enough, in addition to it, you also need to have the right internal compass, education. It seems such a trifle - to give flowers for valediction. But it is precisely such trifles that define us as people, and it is from these that one's path of life is constructed.
It is terrible to imagine how in our female figure skating the last year and a half would look like, if not for these flowers. You can fantasize, draw yourself an alternative reality, but it is better not to, because where Alina exists, such a reality simply cannot exist.
Black Swan was Alina Zagitova's short program in the 17/18 season.
I like that in the Olympic season programs of such different spirits were chosen. If Don Quixote is a holiday, a positive, then Black Swan is a drama. The fact that Alina was excellent at this and the other, already tells she was a versatile skater.
In "Black Swan" Alina with incredibly subtle sense feels the music and is very artistic. All this allows us to call this program a masterpiece that will remain in the history of figure skating for centuries.
Shiseido is a Japanese manufacturer of cosmetics, perfumes and hair care products. The oldest cosmetic company in the world and the fourth largest.
There has recently been a posting that figure skating is a "poor sport" and is not interesting for reputable sponsors. Well, if this is not a solid sponsor, I don’t know. In my opinion, becoming the face of such a brand is an incredible success for any media personality. Although it is still unclear who was more fortunate: Alina or Shiseido, to get such an ambassador. The company made this choice for several reasons: status (they sincerely believe that Alina is an athlete capable of maintaining their reputation), visual attractiveness, ability to maintain and improve awareness of the brand.
Moreover, the “sponsorship pool” of Zagitova is not limited only to “Shiseido”, there is still the no less solid (but national) Sberbank, as well as the world-famous Puma company.
A Sparing Diet a protein variation. A person who adheres to such a diet, loses weight, due to the exclusion of fats and carbohydrates from the diet.
I'm not sure that skaters use this particular diet, actually “sparing” here just for the sake of the letter “Щ”, so it's just a diet. A word familiar to every skater.
Alina quite often talks about her severe dietary restrictions, for example, that she did not even drink water at the Olympics. And the phrase about "fat on the arm" has already firmly entered itself into FS folklore. But no kidding: following any diet also requires incredible endurance, which also commands, at least respect.
Ъ, Ь - Hardness and gentleness of character, united in one person. (Ъ, Ь are the strong and weak accentuals in Russian language)
Sometimes one wonders how such a reinforced concrete character lurks in this modest and sometimes shy in communication (in an interview) girl. Thanks to this, she is able to overcome everything, as well as pull off any jump from a seemingly already hopeless situation.
Yyyyyy - little Alinka is fooling around ;-)
In my previous “magazine post” I already noted that it’s quite interesting to note how, it would seem, as of recent small children turn into bright beauties, sometimes cute (as in the case of Alina), sometimes not.
And this is just a funny photo: Svitov and Alinka, who looks like 3 times smaller next to him (somewhere I came across a photo in which their difference in height and physique looked even more impressive).
With Kaprizov, somehow, such a difference in size was not observed, although they have different roles on ice.
Эteri Tutberidze - Russian figure skating coach, works with athletes in single skating. Honored Coach of Russia (2014). One of the most distinguished and significant trainers of our time.
The name Eteri can often be found among Georgians. It was the name of the heroine of the famous medieval Georgian love epic Eteriani. This name was carried by one Georgian queen who was poisoned because of her beauty. The word "Eteri" itself is found in Georgian literature as a colorful epithet. It is possible that in Georgia this word from the epithet has become a name meaning special beauty.
A woman who bears this unusual name stands out among others for beauty, charm and kindness. She is a friendly and sincere friend. May be strong and courageous. Eteri is a big dreamer. She seeks public recognition, wants to be the first and best in her field. Eteri either becomes a knight, a brave and courageous fighter for justice, or a rude and arrogant cynic who does not take into account the opinions of others.

Thirty-three words from the life of an Olympic champion
Friends, finally, the new school year has arrived, which means that all the 'beggars', the poor people and those who sympathise with them, will return to their workplaces after the holidays and it will be a little quieter the "FS" section.
Maybe this year at least they will be taught how to distinguish between the meaning of words, they will learn that, for example, the verb flaunt ("I flaunt Zhenya") has nothing to do with playing back the sound of hand palms.
Recently, I often tie posts to some significant date, and September 1 is just one of those. The main association with this day: ABC, children's primers, in extreme cases, dictionaries. The format is already there, it only remains to figure out how to connect it with Figure Skating, and then difficulties began (and in general this post turned out to be a difficult path). There were such options:
1) “Dictionary of FS terms” I decided this makes no sense, these are so well known to everyone, and is has already done before.
2) "The ABC - why we love figure skating" Supposedly Q stands for quadruple.
But somehow everything turned out to be too encyclopaedic, and my idea was only to do some light stylisations using the encyclopaedia.
3) “To tell the meanings of some words rarely used in real life by the example of skaters and situations associated with them" Could turn into a course for h'a'ters. Boring.
4) “Unusual, aphoristic words that came to us from FS”, such as: Kozleton, Puhopad, Tuktovoz, Khlyzdit. Or these words in real life where they have different meaning from FS: Amok, Dupel, Bomb (especially bright skater), Wicket (exit point for privileged persons). Fur coat (toeloop) by the way, in the dictionary of jerks (there is one), means - "strange behaviour under the influence of drugs. The behavior of a crazy person. " Very accurate definition.
Interestingly, the problem is that 33 words did not work out.
5) Alphabetical preview of the season. K - Krasnoyarsk - the place where the bloom of female single skaters will flower in the 19/20 season (by the way, is anyone planning to rush to Krasnoyarsk in December? (for Russian Nationals)). Also, there aren't enough words, and it is too early for a preview.
6) The most "stubborn" - Alphabet in the format of "League of bad jokes." For example, the letter YA. What (or rather, who) will happen if we crossbreed the pride of the parrot Yago and the jumping ability of Aladdin? - YAgudin. Well, that’s what it means for myself, first one needs to learn how to joke normally ...
However somehow it did't properly come together, but I didn't want to loose the 'alphabetical format' so I thought: " Why not build a respectful post around a person about whom I can always write at least 33 words? "
Moreover, dedicated postings about Alina have not been done here since May, and the new format is just a great reason for this. Here, too, there was a choice, it was possible to create the alphabet of qualities that characterise Alina: G - Grace, M - Modesty, and so on. Or how her work affects fans: A - Admires, M - Motivates (“Be yourself”, etc.). However after re-reading, postings in the form: one letter - one word, are likely to get boring when it comes to convenience, clarity and thesis specifics. So after some time, I decided on this general theme: “Words that played a prominent role in Alina’s life or career.”
There was not enough time to ready by September 1, I had to do everything in express mode, at the end of which it was already difficult to adequately think: would it work out or not. It seemed to me (or didn’t seem) that it wouldn’t, and I decided not to post this. But then the news broke that Alina visited the Knowledge Day school lineup, which again made me change my mind. Let not it not be ready by the first of September, but at least by the first academic week.
In short, we got this mix from the alphabet, dictionary and encyclopaedia. From the first there are pictures, from the second - the meaning of words (they are already well known to everyone, but purely for the format), from the third - some small facts, if we are talking about a city or a name.

Alina is a first name for females
The history of the origin of this name is rather confusing: it is written somewhere it was borrowed from Western European languages at the beginning of the 20th century (English Aline, German Alina, French Aline), somewhere - that it's Russian, derived from Angelina. But I was interested not so much in the history but rather in its significance. So, also depending on the country, it has different meanings, although the essence is roughly the same everywhere. So, translated from Latin Alina means “other”, “different”. In addition, there is a possibility that this is a form of the Latin name Albina, which is translated (from the Latin “albus”) as “white”, “light”.
The name Alina is also common in Scandinavia, where it is considered a form of the name Adeline (such an elegant bridge from one Olympic champion to another), meaning “noble”, “generous”, “majestic”. In Slavic countries, it is associated with the word "scarlet" and the artistic images of "Scarlet Sails" and "Scarlet Flower", that is, with the expectation of happiness and hope. In Scotland, the name Alina is interpreted as “honest” and used as a pair with the male name Alistair. In Greece - it means "sunbeam", and in the eastern countries (from Arabic: Ali) - "elevated, high".
Usually, bearers of the name Alina are characterised by pronounced creative abilities, in addition, these girls are stubborn. Alina is so capable that sometimes she can direct her obstinacy into a peaceful direction and achieve outstanding success in life. She is suitable for such professions that require perseverance / hard work to achieve the goal: engineers, musicians, athletes, doctors, journalists, actresses.
“Grand Slam” is a special term for certain major achievements in sports. In figure skating, this means having victories in the four main tournaments: Grand Prix Finals, Continental Championships, World Championships and Olympic Games.

What is even more valuable: Alina herself inspires fans, hence all this creativity from their hands: drawings, letters, dolls, crafts and other things. It is an important fact that this chain of inspiration is not lost in the void, but closes itself at the starting point: Alina more than once posted photos with the gifts presented to her. Some of them, such as earrings made by one of her Japanese fans, she wears with pleasure.
And for some Zagitova is not just a source of inspiration, but a real muse.
Gleikhengauz Daniil - Russian figure skater, now a trainer and director of staging programs working at the Sambo-70 Sports and Education Center, Khrustalniy figure skating department, in the group of Eteri Tutberidze. Indeed, it is. Like the brightly lit musical fountain that illuminates city streets after a long winter, Zagitova's Don Quixote, with a bright flash flooded the entire surroundings with light.

It seems to me that the European Championship are a kind of springboard from which Alina “flew” to her highest achievements every time. It was something like an indicator: in the 17/18 season, having won Euro's just the month before the Olympics, having beaten her main rival, she finally understood: “I can fight her,” which probably gave her extra strength. And the Euro 18/19 season was the bell that announced: urgently need to change something. Zagitova - the surname.
It is difficult to speak about the specific information, place and time of the origin of the surname Zagitov, since the process of forming generic names has been going on for centuries. It is only clear that it, like a fairly large part of the Eastern surnames (and the names on the basis of which they are created) is borrowed from the Arabic and Persian languages along with the Muslim religion. Their long stay in different languages and dialects has led to the fact that the former alienness of many of them is forgotten, so that they are perceived as their own, national, representatives of all peoples professing Islam.
The surname Zagitov was formed from the old male personal name Zagid. This name comes from the Arabic language and means "holy, pious, humble." In general, it can be argued that this family naming is a clear evidence of the interaction of different national cultures.
And Alina herself is a living and breathing example of the interaction of both nationalities, countries and their cultures.

In contrast to cruelty. Yes, Alina had to go through a lot over the past year, but at the same time, ordinary people, fans love her like no one else. And they show, give their love on an unreal scale in completely different ways. She is not just a champion, she is also a champion of hearts.

Zagitova is the first and only skater to break the 82 point threshold in the short program according to the old judging system, and the first skater to score 80 points in the short program and more than 150 in the free program according to the new one. Black Swan was Alina Zagitova's short program in the 17/18 season.
I like that in the Olympic season programs of such different spirits were chosen. If Don Quixote is a holiday, a positive, then Black Swan is a drama. The fact that Alina was excellent at this and the other, already tells she was a versatile skater.
In "Black Swan" Alina with incredibly subtle sense feels the music and is very artistic. All this allows us to call this program a masterpiece that will remain in the history of figure skating for centuries.

There has recently been a posting that figure skating is a "poor sport" and is not interesting for reputable sponsors. Well, if this is not a solid sponsor, I don’t know. In my opinion, becoming the face of such a brand is an incredible success for any media personality. Although it is still unclear who was more fortunate: Alina or Shiseido, to get such an ambassador. The company made this choice for several reasons: status (they sincerely believe that Alina is an athlete capable of maintaining their reputation), visual attractiveness, ability to maintain and improve awareness of the brand.
Moreover, the “sponsorship pool” of Zagitova is not limited only to “Shiseido”, there is still the no less solid (but national) Sberbank, as well as the world-famous Puma company.
A Sparing Diet a protein variation. A person who adheres to such a diet, loses weight, due to the exclusion of fats and carbohydrates from the diet.
I'm not sure that skaters use this particular diet, actually “sparing” here just for the sake of the letter “Щ”, so it's just a diet. A word familiar to every skater.
Alina quite often talks about her severe dietary restrictions, for example, that she did not even drink water at the Olympics. And the phrase about "fat on the arm" has already firmly entered itself into FS folklore. But no kidding: following any diet also requires incredible endurance, which also commands, at least respect.

Sometimes one wonders how such a reinforced concrete character lurks in this modest and sometimes shy in communication (in an interview) girl. Thanks to this, she is able to overcome everything, as well as pull off any jump from a seemingly already hopeless situation.

In my previous “magazine post” I already noted that it’s quite interesting to note how, it would seem, as of recent small children turn into bright beauties, sometimes cute (as in the case of Alina), sometimes not.
And this is just a funny photo: Svitov and Alinka, who looks like 3 times smaller next to him (somewhere I came across a photo in which their difference in height and physique looked even more impressive).
With Kaprizov, somehow, such a difference in size was not observed, although they have different roles on ice.

Well done, Alina! Finally skating her soul out. No nerves, no insecurities. Just brilliant. I don't know if it was the camera angles but I liked this performance a lot better than the one in Japan

I think she just had more time to practice by now. So the program looks a lot smoother than in Japan imo.

That last step sequence was intense and flew so well with the music. The whole program was so wonderful and unique. She was holding her positions and did not rush through movements which made the performance even more enjoyable. Goodluck with the FS Alina!
