Alina Zagitova

The audience was so quiet you could have heard a pin drop during the quiet moments of that performance. So grateful I got to see this performance.

It looks like Alina has came straight from some kind of dream, what a beautiful performance #IFP2019

Moving! Can there ever have been anything quite like that at a gala before?

It was beautiful to see in person today. It felt like an honour and it was touching to see Daniil standing rink side watching. Definitely the standout performance of the gala alongside P/C for me. [emoji178]

Thank you for sharing this. What an experience to see it live! While I was watching the video the thought flashed through my mind that if the audience all held up their phones on flashlight mode at the same time it would look like she was skating under the stars....

My heart goes out to Daniil. :ghug:

I held my breath during the entire performance. I simply can't put into words the amount of emotions that I felt while watching this performance.

Alina is more than an talented skater, beyond technique and skill, she shows and transmits pure emotion, and only the greatest can do this.

Strangely, for me, it did me nothing in the gala, while I was completely mesmerised by the Channel One feature on it.

Was the dedication of Alina's EX explained by the hall speaker? Also, why wasn't "Cloud Atlas" mentioned in the title box, for I think that movie which gave the EX its music and theme of life recursing and infinity was very powerful in my emotions.
Perhaps too much to ask from those involved, a video display on the big screens on what brought this EX about and what it means for all the Khrustalniy Skaters and Coaches.

Perhaps a proper dedication to Alla Borisovna will be done in this year's Tutberidze's Show of Champions? I really hope so, for like Daniil Markovich wrote in his tribute, "Alla Borisovna left a part of her in any of our skaters".

Well I'm off to buy some nice cold lemonade in Hell!

Here is TAT praising our girl! -

Tarasova - about Zagitova: “We must pay tribute that she skated in courage. She must enter the Grand Prix finals - this is very important ”

Well-known figure skating coach Tatyana Tarasova appreciated the performance of Alina Zagitova in the free program at the French Grand Prix.

Zagitova fell on the first jump, but skated the rest of the program cleanly and took second place.

“Bravo, well done! The first element got nervous - and then everything was clean. And how she jumped this Lutz-Rittberger after a difficult call - just amazing.

We must pay tribute that she skated in courage. I really like this program, I really love these music, which are connected very competently. Direct program on it.

She must enter the Grand Prix finals - this is very important. She at the beginning of the season, having spent such a stormy summer and spring in beautiful tours, where she became open and gained some of her charm.

She does not do the elements just like that - she hears what she does. She skates to music, she realizes that she skates. And when she will feel confident, I think that teachers will begin to study more complex elements with her, ”Tarasova said on the air of Channel One.

What a change!

apparently Daniil was comforting Shoma yesterday, he's such a selfless man! I can't imagine how hard it must be to experience losses of both parents at such incredibly young age and yet he's there to support his skaters (Aliona) and even not his skaters (Shoma), forgetting about his own grief and trauma.
Alina skating a tribute to his mother must be something truly special for him.
My favorite gala of all time.

Our gracious girl! Thanking everyone for the support and calling this a wonderful Grand Prix
We don’t deserve you Alina

Yes, she should be proud of herself! If she's happy, then I'm happy.

ETA: Also, I just watched her gala piece, and it is a masterpiece. Love it, and agree that in this program, she transmits raw emotion. What an honor for those who got to watch it live!

Bring the praise, forget the gloom.

And because it can't be said enough - "For me, second place is not a disappointment at all. Some people are already beginning to (say): don’t be upset. But why should I be upset at all? I don’t understand. I’ve said 150 times that the main thing for me is to go out on the ice, no matter what place. Place for me is not an incentive at all now.” - Alina Zagitova after winning silver at the Grand Prix of France.

It’s her fist competition this saison and silver is a good result. Alina was pleased with her SP performance less with the Free but she proved she could do it after a mistake. When I look at GP France last year, it was worst. Everybody had issues and they also were judged strictly.

My favorite gala of all time.

I read that Raf did as well in the k&c. I hope Shoma got lots of support from everyone. His skate and then his tears just broke me. It killed me to see him like that and see him have to deal with it alone.

I know that none of us are thrilled with Alina's scores from this competition, but I am so grateful she is healthy (no tape on her knees to be seen). I'm thankful she has genuinely good relationships with her coaches and fellow skaters. Just seeing her in such a positive light is a gift. Most importantly she seems to be in a good place mentally.

Garrett (the guy who brought us Owlina!) was at the competition and the gala. He tweeted that he had never seen Alina looking so happy.

The rest of the season will unfold however it will unfold, but right now I'm just grateful for where Alina is in this moment.

Also grateful to get to share it here with all of you. :ghug:

Wasn't Daniil Markovich sad and sort of disappointed over the leaving of Aidan Pitkeyev, with whom he has bonded and wanted to prove his talent as trainer/choreographer to a very promising male skater? And Shoma was training with #TeamTutberidzeForProgress for like 6 weeks around May, during the Novogorsk camp?

- Quads? I'm a person of "doing first, talking later". So no promises right now. I need to drop at least 3 kg/7 lb to prepare myself for quads first.
- And yes. I do have what I can drop safely.
- Height? 160 cm / 5'3" like a year ago. Not gained for over a year.
(from yesterday's interview)

Oh, Lord! You know what to do.
