An observation from a fan that was at IdF that shows what kind of person El Hamster is:

After the award ceremony, the girls went for the victory round, some spectators threw flags from different directions, Russian ones threw two under Alina’s feet. The second was a flag with the faces of Alina and Alyona which Alina took, thanked the fans and moved ahead. After photographing was done, Alyona just left the flag on the board, and Alina collected them all and went to give them back to the fans. Gave those 2 that they threw to her, was told that the flag given to Alyona was from the fans on the other side of the ice rink, Alina thanked the fans again and went to return the flag to the other side of the rink.

Just fyi: He is the pilot who landed a Ural Airlines passenger plane in a Russian cornfield, after it had been struck by a flock of birds, saving all of the passengers on board in August. (The Russian version of Miracle on the Hudson!) He was awarded the top medal for bravery by Vladimir Putin and is considered a hero of the nation. He modestly maintains that he was just doing his job.
