Alina Zagitova

Pavel Kolobkov: “Zagitova is an outstanding athlete. In her sports career, she has won everything.”

Russian Sports Minister Pavel Kolobkov during a joint broadcast of SE and IZ.RU commented on the decision of Olympic champion in figure skating Alina Zagitova to suspend the career.

- Zagitova is an outstanding athlete. In her sports career, she has won everything: the Olympic Games, World and European Championships. Her name will remain in history. I am sure that she will not part with figure skating for good - she will perform in shows and participate in various events. Of course, I would like to see her at big competitions, but in sports there always comes such a moment that the athlete retires. If Alina made such a decision, we must respect it.

SE will broadcast the interview tomorrow on their channel, in which the minister will probably look back on the year 2019 in Russian sports.

Alina gave New Year gifts to little skaters :)

NTV channel together with Father Frost will go on a big trip around the country.
Together with Father Frost the TV channel will fulfil the desires of children and adults from all over Russia! ⠀
This time, Father Frost came to the youth sports school of the Schelkovo district! Skater girls showed episodes from their programs! ⠀
At the end of the meeting with the kids, Father Frost handed everyone toys from the famous figure skater Alina Zagitova, as well as toys, lego and dolls from a partner, the Korablik store!

If your Sports Minister is retiring you then you must be very adored by the officials in RusFed and FS/Sport elite. Keep it up. They made her to stop and now will be happy to send their kids to watch her on shows from VIP seats. I'm sending you my very polite words...

Navka admired the support element from pair skating performed by Zagitova

2006 Olympic champion Tatyana Navka admired Alina Zagitova’s support element in pair skating with Czech skater Ondrej Hotarek. The skater is preparing to participate in the ice show "Sleeping Beauty", in which she will play the main role.

Conquer new heights with Alina Zagitova!

" For you to understand, Alina rises to such a height for the first time, and, believe me, this is very scary. The magic on ice is just beginning! We are already looking forward to the premiere, and you ?! "

This is from FSO. I think it's really insightful about the difficulties of finding motivation after winning.

From the Instagram of Cyril Blagov. https://www.instagram.com/p/B4h4x9-Ijf4/ He quotes the words of Sasha Cohen. -

"When you grow up in this bubble, where your whole personality is a sport, this is figure skating, then all you want is to prove to yourself and the world that you are good enough. But good enough - that means the first. And it takes years to change this mindset.

Being an athlete is always to be strong, always confident, to those who are doing well. Is always. And you develop the habit of never showing weakness, not asking for help. It’s always up to you, you are always to blame. Athletes are one of the most self-critical people. They do not blame external factors, they blame themselves. I did not train enough, I lost concentration, I could not stand the pressure. We feel that we are obliged to fix everything, because we have been told all our lives that everything depends on us, that this is our moment - either we can handle it or not ”

and another piece:

"... But it turned out that other athletes who have won many gold medals are also not easy. Because in many ways we work for the moment. And even if at that moment you win, it quickly passes, and you need something new that defines you as a person. Something that will prove that you are worthy. Because the Olympics is already the last day."

In general, the whole text was impressive.

A few words about motivation, its presence and absence from my own experience.

"A few years ago, when I reached the goal I was going for almost 4 years (not compare with the Olympics, of course))), I got what I wanted, and even more, I could not get rid of the feeling of inner emptiness for a long time. I was happy to follow this path to the goal, but it took me 1-1.5 years to get back to this business. I wanted, but I couldn’t. I needed it, but I couldn’t get myself forced. The brain turned off, or something). Therefore, she gave herself the opportunity to rest in order to return. And then I realized that awareness of the need far from always becomes motivation."

Alexandra Goryachkina, two-time Russian chess champion: I'm inspired by Alina Zagitova

- Is there a person in the world of sports that you look up to?

- I'm very inspired by Alina Zagitova. She is a young athlete who has achieved everything there is in figure skating, a very competitive sport. At the same time, she fits and looks at ease in all types of activities. Be it events with state officials, glamorous parties, match opening ceremonies, television shows ... Not everyone can do it, and this example is very important for me.

I am so happy that Alina is learning to fly in a Fairy Land for Christmas! I couldn't be happier for her.

Also, Ondrej is my hero -

Ondrej - "Let go of arms"

Alina - (lets go of nothing)

Ondrej - "Let go"

Alina - (still not letting go of a damn thing!)

Ondrej - "You want to let go"

Alina - (Does not, in fact, want to let go! Lets go of one arm for one second)

Alina - :eeking:

:laugh2:

Hi. I see that Alina has a lot of fans here, I know that you don't like fan wars but in FSU they have fun mocking Alina and belittling her too, it would be nice if some of you could go on to say something positive about her on that page . It is so annoying to see how they treat her there

She used to have more. So many have left or just no longer post on this thread. :(

I've read that stuff too. :( It's hard to read it and I want to respond but it feels pointless. Where do you even start with people who are mocking and belittling a teenage girl in their spare time for their own entertainment? A teenage girl who has probably worked harder than they will ever work in the entirety of their lives.

It also feels like it really has very little to do with Alina and more to do with the person posting it. Kind of like all the rantings back and forth from some of the legends of Russian FS after she announced she wanted to take a break. It's about their own egos and agendas.

But maybe spreading some positivity will help! :ghug: Can't hurt to try.
