Akita Inu named Sakura, belonging to a Sumo wrestler Asashōryū Akinori (his original Mongolian name's Dolgorsürengiin Dagvadorj), gave birth to a puppy that will be given as a gift to the president of Kyrgyzstan. Masao, the father, is Masaru's brother![]()
What is she now in "doggie years" - maybe the same age as Alina?
I believe auntie Masaru is 14![]()

Now Alina's got only 2 continents left to conquer: South America & Antarctica, because she's in Africa already - here she's on the home page of Puma Zuid Afrika![]()
By my calculations Masaru is 15 yrs 6 mos 11 days as of today.
I don’t know if this has been posted in here, but I stumbled upon this fan video on youtube. I thought that it was super cute and really showed how good of a coach-student bond Alina and Daniil have!

“I couldn't devote much time to Alina then. Leysan was engaged more with her, and my mother-in-law helped a lot. At one time, only one rink worked in Izhevsk; there wasn’t enough ice time. Therefore, Leysan had to drive our daughter 60 kilometres to Tatarstan, to the city of Agryz. Often twice a day. Once they had an accident. But my wife is not to blame. A car suddenly jumped out of a secondary road and hit our Toyota in the side, and it flew off into a ditch. Miraculously, it did not roll over. We only just arrived to the base with the team, when my wife called: "We had an accident." I immediately rushed to the site of the accident. Thank God everyone was ok, my girls were safe and sound. The car was heavily dented, we repaired as best we could.
...⠀⠀
Alina first went to Moscow with her mum. At first they lived with our friends, since we did not know whether they would accept Alina at the Sambo-70 school. The road to the Crystal Palace ice rink took two hours one way. There was no point in returning, since there was yet another training ahead during the day. Therefore, they rested right there, in the palace, and returned home closer to midnight. And left for training early next morning again. They had to take a bus to the subway first, in the morning the buses frequently did not run on time, they had to wait and froze in the cold. They called me then: "We're freezing, there is no bus for a long time." It broke my heart to hear them like that. ⠀
⠀
Then, when Alina was accepted, we rented an apartment in Moscow and her grandma went there to stay with her, and my wife returned, she had to take care of our youngest daughter.”⠀
⠀
Happy birthday to the best skating mum ever - Leysan Zagitova!
