Alina Zagitova

Found this love letter to Team Zagitova in the comment section on sports.ru. They can never be praised enough! We all need our very own Team Zagitova in life. Or maybe we need to be our own Team Zagitova for ourselves.

I also want to say a BIG THANKS to Team Zagitova! They supported the guys very much, all these banners with support on the podium, red balls (balloons) with the team's inscription - it's all thanks to them! They brought the hashtag in support of the team to the first place in Twitter trends, all the links and instructions for voting, they had everything. They wrote an account after each view for those who did not have the opportunity to watch, arranged a flash mob with hearts and gratitude on Instagram on the page of each team member, almost every post thanked all team members. We gave all the participants personalized toys, with photos and a teamzagitova ribbon))

You can feel whatever you like about Team Zagitova, but you have to admit the fact that they are already a brand with almost 80 thousand subscribers, and that it must be reckoned with. They are the most popular fan club in the world of FC, God grant all skaters such support!

Also on my wish list for 2021: Please officially announce your retirement, Alina! We all know she is not coming back but her not announcing it always leaves room for gossip (and hope in my case ). I would also love for her to improve her overall form for the upcoming shows as I really don't want to see her falling all over the place (selfishly, I would love to see her do the Lutz-Loop Combo again, but I'm not sure if that's still there).

There can be plenty of reasons for that from pure emotional (she doesn't feel to retire) to plain logistic, contracts with RusFed till next Olympics.

Plus I think she can be still competitive if properly trained and supported. So I don't see the rush to announce anything even if she thinks to.

Right, I haven't considered that.

Seeing her as captain though, I just got the feeling that she sees herself as the older stateswoman of Russian figure skating. I feel like she is content with having won everything once which makes me sad since I too believe that if she really trained she could go to Worlds (a 4T didn't seem impossible at one point). Zhenya vs. Alina could/should have been a great rivalry in FS, insane to think that they only competed at 3 competitions.
