Alina Zagitova

One of my favorite Team Tournament moments is when the Red Team runs out on the ice to celebrate Daria after her FS. I imagine that Daria will remember that moment forever. I thought it was planned but according to this interview with Tiffany and Jon, it was almost a spur of the moment thing! Good job, Red Team! :)

Russian skaters Tiffany Zagorski and Jonathan Gureiro shared their impressions of the national team's team tournament in Moscow.

Gureiro: The Channel One Cup is a complete delight.

Zagorski: I liked it very much, this is our first team tournament. We needed a day to recover from everything. The dancers finished first, so after we retreated, our couple gave all their strength to support the other guys on the team.

Gureiro: Many thought it would be just "meat". For us it was a competition with show elements. The first day was unusual. We usually ride in front of the judges, have lunch and relax. And then the day before the tournament there was a draw, a jumping festival, and a performance. At some point, we thought that we would not have time to speak ourselves.

On the first day, no one understood this movement. And on the second day, everyone realized that this was really a team tournament. It seems to me that everyone felt each other's energy. And it helped us.

Zagorski: On the first day we didn't know how to react, and on the second we gave up all our emotions.

Gureiro: If we talk about a tournament especially for dancers, then the audience would not be interested in brackets, steps, tracks. And twizzles are ambiguous in terms of assessment, in contrast to jumps.

We all discussed chants and ideas among ourselves. After the rental of Dasha Usacheva, they decided to run out, but did not know if this was allowed. We approached the ice, looked at the management, and they opened the gate for us, and we jumped out onto the ice, - said Zagorski and Gureiro.

Jonathan and Tiffany about Alina

Gureiro: For the past two years, both of us have been in close contact with Alina Zagitova - they lived with Tiffany in a room. When Tiffany left, Alina called me if she needed to solve something in English. And now we sometimes talk together.

I would also talk to Zhenya Medvedeva. Recently, we have little intersection, even at tournaments.

Zagorski: Both captains were wonderful, they came up with a theme, they really supported the guys. During the rental, their faces were displayed in a separate window. You could see how they worried about their team.

Gureiro: I can tell you how it was for us - very soulful, really, energetic. We saw how much Alina was sick and worried about everyone. Dima Aliev helped with chants, thanks to him for that. Another team supported us, we supported them. Despite the young age of the captains, they showed themselves very worthy.

Zagorski: When I started communicating with Zagitova, she was shy. But gradually Alina opened up, began to speak more, to smile. At this tournament, she was revealed to everyone in the same way as before for me and John.
