"Let it stay here as a reminder that inside each of us there is a ray of light. And, as you know, "happiness can be found even in the darkest times, if you do not forget to turn to the light."
be happy

You can really see their friendship here but also Alina's respect for him as her coach. He invites her to skate ahead of him as they skate off the ice (very gentlemanly) and she insists on skating behind him as a show of respect and gratitude. I've noticed she almost always does this in similar situations. At Mishin's Gala she deferred to Sinitsina & Katsalapov. At the Sleeping Beauty shows, when Navka wasn't present, Petr T. tried to put her at the front of the line, she dropped back to let someone else go first. 'Humility adorns.'

I read on twitter that there is an article about Alina's chances of remaining on the national team and the unrealistic requirements she would have to meet...Has anybody heard of that? If she loses her spot that would mean that she will no longer be allowed to train at Samba, right? Because the Rus Fed won't pay for it any longer...Which means she might as well retire in the summer...

I really hope I misunderstood something :frown:

Wrong. Or yes, you misunderstood that. Being on the team means the FFKKR pays your expenses for the training and other costs related to skating (skates, costumes...). It is not about whether you can train. Do you think those hundreds and thousands of skaters in all teams throughout Russia are all members of the national team? No. And of course there are skaters in Sambo who are not members of the national team. It's just that who is not a part of the national team pays his costs mostly by himself (of course there is some support from the local skating organizations, sponsors etc.)

Thanks for explaining!!

But this clearly means that we will know for sure within the next few months in which direction she will be heading...try a comeback or become a show skater, those are the two options on the table. How many spots are there anyway? Anya, Sasha, Kamila, Liza, Alina, Dasha will definitely be part of the national team. Evgenia possibly too. Alina is financially stable and could pay for everything herself but she doesn't need as much training if she doesn't compete anyway. The question about whether she remains part of the national team will probably be interesting to sponsers as well. This year's test skates will probably answer the remaining questions. (I really hope the Rus Fed doesn't bluff again, though, just to get people to come without Alina actually participating and being blamed for it).
