Alina Zagitova

Looking back and evaluating figure skating wise Alina's season, it was a total waste of time. The positive is that she spend some time on her studies which I think is the most important.

Do you think she will attempt to come back next season...? Otherwise we won't have any reason to evaluate anything anymore

As much as I would like her to follow in Liza's footsteps, I just think that Eteri has moved on and is exclusively focused on getting those trophies that 15 year olds have the best chance of winning nowadays. She will happily use Alina and Zhenya to sell tickets for her show but that's probably it.

If she decides to become a show skater, I would love for her to skate in international high production value shows and to hopefully decline the CoI tour next year...

I hope she does what her heart feels and mind says. From my side I will be glad to see her name in the lists and book my tickets.

As for the rest of the parts involved in such a decision, if you ask me I don't see any particular interest neither from her Fed first of all, neither from her team.

well Alina has so many doors opened, I can see her being a coach, a producer, an actress, I hope one day she will write a book about her career and life. I don’t think staying in the national team is her main goal.

Agree with everything!! Although its a little stupid from Eteri's side seeing as Alina would be her best bet to prove that she can teach adults as well as very slim teens...I still think that Alina's odds of learning a quad are higher than Zhenyas because she is the more talented jumper. Alas, we will see :)

Would love to be surprised come september, though :cheer2:

I don't see any particular reason to bring other skaters when you talk about Alina. Everyone has his own path. I'm a bit tired to tell the truth with this... We had medvegitova, now chsherbegitova and I don't know what else.

She has yes. The most easy is to become coach. I mean everyone else is doing that. I hope Alina will choose the difficult and unmapped path.

You're right. I just wanted to make the point that Alina probably has more to give.

I really think she would be an amazing coach (we got a little taste of what she would be like in the K&C at the Channel 1 cup :hap10:).
But I could also imagine her producing sport documentaries etc. or being involved with helping children.

I guess we'll see when she officially retires (not too soon I hope, because hope springs eternal )

I do wonder if her sponserships will end then or if she'll still be Puma's ambassador. This will probably play a role in her decision about when she will announce her retirement.

From sports.ru comment section -

What captivates Alina most of all is that she is real. As it is, this presents itself, without any superstructures, with the exception of programs - on the ice it is completely different, completely adult, different, but always bright and somehow hypnotizing. I visited the show in Perm, did not harbor any illusions, did not expect any extravaganza from her, but now I understand why Alina has so many fans. EVERYONE, without exception, in this show were good, but there is something special in Alina and there is that very inner light that, if it touches you, will not be forgotten. She stayed on the ice the longest to thank the audience and did not want to let her go)
