The thought has been going around in my head since I saw the announcement of the Cypriot Olympic team, but I have only just confirmed that the girl that is racing in the Women's Slalom on Wednesday is one of the Cypriot skaters that I adopted years ago!!!

OK, because one of the Cypriot figure skaters that I adopted years ago is competing in the Women's Slalom, I am going to do full posts for it.
Livestream for Run 1 of the Women's Slalom is now on air.
The BBC don't tell us what they will be showing on each channel, or if it will include the skiing. So I will hedge my bets and provide links to both broadcasts.

OK, I'm getting concerned. We're about to start the race, and there is still no commentary on the No Advert stream on Discovery+ UK.
Where are Ed and Charlie?
Am I going to have to switch over to the TV stream now it has come on air to hear what they have to say?

When I put on the TV stream, we heard Charlie talking to Orla in the studio. But then she went to join Ed in the commentary box. So that is probably why there was no commentary on the No Advert stream. Because one of the commentators was missing.
Still no sign of commentary on the No Advert stream now that they are both in the box, though. So I'll stay with the TV stream until we reach the next advert break, and check the No Advert stream again then.

Right, tried the No Advert stream again during the adverts in between skiers #15 and #16, and the English soundtrack option is no longer listed.
Such a shame. I wanted to hear what they had to say about my kid Andrea LOIZIDOU (CYP), see if they mention that she's a figure skater. Let's face it, with her being the last to start, the TV coverage will no longer be on air by the time she comes down.

I've done many of these types of post over the years, but this is the first time I've done one for an Alpine Skiing competition.
My kid should be starting now.

Ach, that was so unfortunate.
There was one red gate in particular that a lot of the skiers were missing. And Andrea was one of the ones that was caught out by it. And just as she realised, she straddled the next gate.
But, she got halfway down the course, which is further than others managed.
It's a pity that this was the only competition that she was entered in. I'm sure she will be disappionted to be going home from her first Senior Olympics with just a DNF.
But, now she can look forward to the Closing Ceremony.
Even though it is not the outcome I would have wanted, I am so proud of Andrea for getting to the Senior Olympics.

Right, because Andrea did not get through to the second run of the Women's Slalom, I am going to watch the second session of today's Formula 1 Testing coverage LIVE instead.
