Anna Pogorilaya

:sad21: Anna don't have a GP assigment ... anybody knows if she will participate in any challenger series?

To be honest, I'm happy about it. Let her test the water again in lower-stress competitions where she is more likely to medal. She can build her SB and be ready again for next season.

Next season is too far and will be more difficult ... She doesn't need GP to go to the nationals and get a spot to european this year.... I agree that she needs to go back to go first a lower-stress competition and then go back to the " shark waters"

Actually going to Challengers might help her more than GP series. Right now field is so deep and it would be really hard for Anna to successfully come back to Grand Prix. Challengers mean less pressure, less crowded field and bigger chance to win and we all know all RusFed cares about is results :sarcasm: Also there is one free spot at Rostelecom so maybe it will be given to her

Wow...they sure do grow up quick. Feels like just the other day she was the mermaid girl

Congrats to her and her very lucky guy.

Has she ever had a boyfriend before him? Have they even been together for a year? I guess I've been around too long to see this as a good idea...just look at Mustafina. 20 years old, what on earth is the rush? Unless she wants to skate for Latvia? Sorry, can't be more enthusiastic but it's her life & I hope she won't regret it.

What a surprise! But somehow she always strikes me as someone mature and wise beyond her years. Congratulations and best wishes!

It's very common in Russia to marry early.

Oh! Wasn't expecting to find that news here! Congratulations to them and best wishes. I hope she will still continue to do shows (and compete?). I know she's been dealing with an injury, but she still has a lot of skating to give us still.

She said she wants to compete - I think starting at the Russia Cup, or these test skates they have early in the season? Unless she's pregnant, there is no problem there. She's just going to be in lower tier competitions, hopefully some challenger events? Unfortunately she didn't get GP spots this season.

She can always do a Mustafina--since the Olympics in 2016 Mustafina has gotten married had a baby and then gotten divorced and made a comeback to competitive gymnastics and is aiming to go worlds this year.

Can we just stop having her getting divorced before she even married? What a jaded worldview. Her partner is 25, they are obviously very much in love, what is wrong here? Nothing. In my opinion she seems like a mature young woman, who knows what she wants. She's tough enough to be happy after all she's been through in her career. This could've ended with a broken woman with depression. If you ask me, she's got the right priorities in life!

where did you get these statistics from?

Russia has one of the highest divorce rates in the world...Google is your friend. Look at Plushenko, Soloviev, or all the young gymnasts who had "starter marriages." If you can give me one example of someone well known who married at 20 and wasn't divorced within a few years, I'd be very surprised.

I let out the biggest "WHAT" when I read the news.:drama: Congratulations and hoping for the best for the couple.:)
