Anna Pogorilaya

Here, too, another Satoko and Anna admirer. I'd feel sad for Satoko if she placed third, and I feel sad for Anna that she placed third, but since a tie is nigh impossible in this sport, so be it. Anyway, congrats Anna, she did what few other skaters can, glue me to the television screen, draw me in from start to finish. She has such a presence now that I feel wasn't quite there yet when she was younger. And it's just So Nice to not see her fall anymore. It was always painful to watch, and if it's painful to watch for the audience, I cannot even begin to imagine how difficult those times must've been for her. Terrific to see this happening.

What happened there in the last few seconds of her free? It seems like she forgot that there was another spin coming and she did some weird running move in between. Do you think that might've been the deciding factor?

I don't dislike anyone. I love Elena, for example, but she got what she deserved here and can still be happy with these scores. I can say that I'm not a fan of Satoko's skating. I'm not a fan of Evgenia's skating. I won't bash them, though. I think they are overscored, but that's all on the judges. It's just so weird that Anna has to try so hard only to never reap what she sows. Well...I hope the karma Meoima mentioned will come to fruitition one day.

Well, Anna's mistake in the SP may have been the difference between third and second, w Satoko being rewarded for two clean programs. But for me, Anna had the best free skate of the competition hands down. Knowing a medal was on the line after the SP, she proved not only that she can perform under pressure, but that she could so in glorious fashion. Ignore the placement. Congratulations Anna, you were magnificent!

Anna has been robbed downright. But oh well... :rolleye: it is not like this is the first time. They have robbed her over and over again. I believe in karma. They will pay. There will be a day when Anna will be the last one to laugh. Have faith and try harder! :agree:

She was, she really was. I can't understand how Satoko gets 3's on her tiny jumps, while Anna almost never does. Satoko has other great qualities, but jumps are not one of them, yet she gets more credit for them than Anna...I don't blame Satoko, I blame judges. They really make it more political than what really is happening in competition...

But congrats Anna on GPF medal! :hap10: Anna is the most consistent Russian Lady (well, if we count by GPFs then maybe Elena Radionova is more), she's regulary on World Team, but just seem to be looked down at by some...

Btw. shouldn't Anna get deduction for finishing after music? She should still be ahead of Satoko if judged accordingly, but I thought they went lennient on her not giving her deduction.

Robbed!!! If you saw the coverage & commentary from EuroSport (videos on youtube), both Simon Reed and Chris Howarth were glowing over Anna's Free Skate with remarks like " she owned the ice and the stadium"... "surely this is her career best"..."she is the Queen of the Ice". They were stunned by the low PCS for Anna and equally stunned that Miyahara received higher PCS. After Jack finished her Free, they said Anna had THE BEST performance of the evening. I really don't get why the judges consistently give Anna such low PCS scores. I looked back at other scores and can find only one PCS above 70.

Jack makes mistakes but gets away with them....example, she has never received and edge fault deduction. The Australian judge gave her a zero on the 3F fall....how do you score that a zero when a -2 is appropriate? The same Australian judge gave Anna the lowest PCS scores of all the judges. Come on!!!

Anna's skills and abilities are at the top of the game. She is one tough world class competitor. She does not outwardly display her frustrations with this, but I know she and her team must feel it. She has earned and deserves more.

She obviously was within the time limit (4 min +/- 10 sec). But I think it has probably affected her PCS.
But it was a great skate in any case and I like her hungry for the things to come. I feel really confident watching her at the moment, she seems so stable.

I agree that she was robbed again but still congrats for another great competition & success for Anna. I dream and think that there are even better things to come :)

According to japanese judge Satoko should amass 152+ points for LP so worthy of World Record. Enough said. Giving +3 GOE for tiny, short of rotation jumps is ridiculous.

At least now we have access to look into it now even if it's as disagreeable as it is.

Well. What an unpleasant place this fan fest is, these days.

I'll leave my congratulations to Anna for her beautiful skating at the GPF, and her bronze medal... and then leave you all to it :-P

Just purchased tickets for Skate America in Lake Placid NY. Hoping Anna will be there...it is the only GP event she hasn't skated.

If Anna's not seriously injured....what I really hope for....will she still be able to go to Euros or Worlds? Because she didn'tc ompete at Nationals. It would be a shame.
