When I saw that you were posting photo galleries of different skaters, THIS is the gallery I was waiting to appear!
In case you missed it, there are more from this season HERE, taken at Finlandia Trophy back in October...

I did see your Finlandia photos at the time. I just never thought of saying anything. :slink:

Sorry about that.

Can I just add, I am so in awe of your photography skills.  :points:

I have tried to take photos of moving objects, and they never turn out anywhere near as clear as those. Admittedly, it is mainly racing motorbikes that I take photos of, but I struggle even when they are going slowly. :o:

Thanks, but you flatter me...! I have no particular talent, but I know some photography basics, and I've had a lot of practice. I think I have improved over time as I've learned more, and had more practice - I think you can see that if you look at some of my older photo galleries. I'm still learning. I have better equipment these days too, which helps (compact size and quiet operation are requirements for me, to minimise disturbance to my neighbours in the audience... so my options have always been rather limited, and I had to work harder to get decent results. But there are some very good cameras available now, that are powerful yet small and very quiet, and make it easier to get good shots. For a price LOL).

If you can sort out photographing racing motobikes (panning technique!), it will stand you in good stead for figure skating! (airshow photography was a big help for me... see below)

I think these are wonderful....is there a site/link where all your work is displayed? I'd love to see more.
All my figure skating photo galleries can be accessed from this top level web page:

My other passion is airshows, and they require remarkably similar techniques and camera settings to figure skating...! (Both require panning the camera to follow a fast moving subject, which is typcially dark and high contrast against a bright background. Slow shutter speeds are required... for airshows, because aeroplane propellers need to be motion-blurred or it will look like engine failure... and for figure skating, because of poor/indoor lighting). When airshow season ends... the figure skating season is just beginning, and vice versa... very convenient! :-D I don't have a top-level webpage for airshow photos, but I post my stuff over on the "UK Airshow Review" forums if anyone's interested.

Thank you for the links...they are beautiful. Will you be at the European Championship?

Unfortunately, no. But I will be at Worlds in Helsinki, and hopefully Anna will compete there, and I can take some more photos... :-D

Hooray for Anna! Love her SP, but (more importantly) she seems to really love it too. Hope she does great in the FS. Love the huge stuffed bear that's so big it takes two kids to take it off the ice! :)

Was that Anna's personal best? Of course she deserves all the silver in the World. ah..if only she could also win one day. One can dream, but I just don't see it happening. How frustrating that must be. Especially since she and Evgenia seem like friends. She cannot even channel hate against her rival, haha.

Such a really lovely and amazing sp. I thought she deserved a higher score, particularly with her presentation. Cheering for you Anna! :hap10:
