Anna Pogorilaya

If anything, she doesn't look unhealthy  And her jumps are always to die for in terms of height

Well, after reading about Anna's injury I had a bad feeling, and it seemed to me like she was clutching her back even during the warmup...but in spite the terrible fall, I thought she gave a great effort. I see improvement in her spins! Really wish her bad luck would come to an end... It's got to be tough to continually fall behind her teammates, especially when I know she works so hard. But I believe she is entirely capable of a Liza-style comeback next season.

 I hope she will be alright.

I hope Anna's healthy, I don't really care about her scores or results at this point. Go Anna!

Anyone know if she is still under going a growing spurt?

She absolutely can do it! Now...I have defended Tsareva quite a bit on here, and I honestly don't know enough about her to feel like I can judge, but I do wonder if a change would be beneficial for Anna. It will be interesting to see what the strategy is after this. Right now though, I just hope she gets healthy and takes some time off.

Where did she place?

Why was she there if she was injured? All we heard for 2 months is Adelina wasn't ready for worlds even though she was over her ankle injury. Well if Pogo injured an ankle ligament how could she have been ready? Could Russia have replaced her?

Anna will have to be on her game next year. More young Russians will be coming for her spot.

Totally gutted for Anna's LP here. With all the talk of Russian ladies domination, it must be so hard for her to have done so poorly.

I know it seems easy to count her out for next season considering the Russian junior ladies who will be moving up, but I hope Anna can give them a run for their money once she's fit and healthy again. I want her to come back fighting next season!

Miracles don't happen, I guess. If you're skating with unhealed ligaments, you're gonna fall. It kinda makes me angry at Anna's coach and whoever could and should have influenced her to withdraw, because a skate like this benefits no one.

And seriously, Anna, change the coach. Geez, when the camera showed Tsareva's face when Anna was laying there on the ice it wasn't worry or on her face, it was irritation. Even Polish commentators said that Anna deserves some comfort, not isolation. That body language is just that telling.

This was heartbreaking.

I'm so going to miss her wonderful exhibition, but I guess she shouldn't be skating.

Hold on there, Anna.

Honestly, I think the same thing, even despite I understand we never know what the situation between Anna and her coach actually is, and how helpful Tsareva is to her.
What made me think bad of her is the video prior to Europeans, made by one of Russian tv-news, where they came to Anna's morning training. On that video Anna has attempted 3lz-3t several times and fell, but her coach haven't even looked at her - she, seemed intentionally, ignored Anna. I was really shocked seeing this.

This bad huge event could break her or it could make her tougher. I hope it's the latter. But I have my doubts. Anna needs to be really good next season.

Oh Anna. I always have a soft spot for her.

It's unfortunate that she was injured. I always wonder how much she might be able to grow in all areas (mentally, technically, and artistically) if she were able to train with a foreign coach. But obviously, that's not going to happen.

Ugh, I can't stand Tsareva. A while ago there was a thread in The Edge about Tsareva and some people defended her via Russian cultural differences, naturally resting b-faces, it not being necessary to smile when one is disappointed, etc... But I really don't feel like she is defensible any more. I understand her letting (or making?) Anna compete, because we don't know the full extent of her injury and it's so competitive in Russia (I'm not saying I agree, but I can understand how it can be defended). But body language and facial expressions... betray everything. That coach cam during Anna's terrible fall. No sympathy at all. I'm used to the cold Kiss and Cry, but the fact that her immediate gut reaction to her injured student's horrible fall contains no ounce of concern or worry? Ugh. How can anybody defend that.

You can't and you shouldn't. Even the commentators notice this:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=d8bpkoV4ZVM (6:15)
"Entrenadora *clears throat* es un poco..... distante...."
"The coach *clears throat* is a bit. ...distant. .."

The Spanish commentators are very warm and positive towards all skaters. Immediately after the skate they tried to pick her up, saying she is a great skater, naming her accomplishments and saying it just didn't come together here. And when you listen to the commentator saying that sentence above, even without speaking Spanish, you can hear in her tone what she thinks of Tsareva's behavior.

I mean she rolls her eyes and purses her lips at the fall as in "Ooh come on girl I'm so over you !"

Agreed. I used to defend her, but this time around it felt like she didn't even care. Maybe she knows something we don't? Anna planning to leave her after this season could explain this cold behaviour, for example.

I actually replayed that on youtube later because I thought maybe I saw wrong and she was just sighing, as in "well, what can you do" but no, it was annoyance. It would have been understandable had Anna been skating healthy and fouling up, but she was inhealed and undertrained. And when you're undertrained, you're not going to be standing out there all confident, especially after the short. It was forseeable that Anna wouldn't do well, and a good coach would have accepted it with understanding, not with a cold shoulder.

I hope she'll bounce back next season, but the competition is going to get even tougher.

Guys, please do not try to circumvent the language censor. When you see the red asterisks come up, think of a non-offensive word to use and use that instead of creating weird spellings, abbreviations, or symbols.

^^^
I inderstand.

It's just that only strong language really conveys what I want to say....:slink:
