Anna Pogorilaya

"I have long been an open question: who will put my program? The issue helped to solve the federation. New programs put me Nikolai Morozov."
He's definitely back in favour with the Fed. Mozer's group, Radionova, Pogo and who else? Lots of jobs this season.

Interview with Tsareva:

http://www.team-russia2014.ru/article/22248.html

Summary:
Choreo Nikolai Morozov, worked at nights, each program took 5 days, no vocals, music is still secret. Both programs are interesting, packed with transitions. The SP is very stylish, the LP has some lyrical moments. There are some ideas re the EX but not done yet.
Working on new combinations, already learnt 3Lo-3Lo. Trying 3A – working progress. At the moment no immediate plans to increase difficulty but in a month – we’ll see. Most important that Anna is fully recovered after the injury.
At present the preparation for test skates, will be showing new programs in entirety.

About Anna's interview - the Google translation is so funny. When it is says: '' When Nicholas arrived, I took all their wheels, we started to listen to an hour to choose - and undecided. ''
What it actually means is: ''When Nikolai came he brought all his CDs with him, we listened to them for an hour and chose the music''

I hope that it was not that 'The Best in Figure Skating' disc but something original! :)

Just don't let it be Swan Lake or Carmen. any Lloyd Webber or Russian warhorse pretty pls.

But wouldn't Anna be able to do an amazing Pas De Duex? I can see it.

Nice one I agree... as long it is not overly done in figure skating. She need her own signature program, not one that has already been done by someone else.

She has a huge 3Lz+3T combo, why is she learning 3Lo+3Lo now? Will this bring her any advantage?

She also does one of those 3/ 1/2 loop/3 combos, so I don't quite see the point unless she is ultimately going for 3lp/3lp/3t

sabinfire names Anna's "Rise Like a Phoenix" as the top exhibition of the year!

I definitely agree with it being #1 being the outstanding gala last year. I was surprised and totally taken back by it from Anna to be honest. It was not just clever, but politically & artistically sophisticated when it can easily ends up being a bit contrived and tacky.

So that is what Sabinfire sound like. Great ideas about relating pheonix changes to the HUNGER GAMES costume transitioning. She could have used led lights as part her costumes costumes change, with some sort of control device seamed onto her sleeves and light it up when it matters. 4th choice picking Hanyu's Parisienne walkway is a bit odd, consider it was one of his best known programs already, the one that launched him as a contender for Patrick's gold plus multiple seasons and WR to boot.

:cheer: Anna's EX of the last season was absolutely unarguebly No.1!
It is just all the exhibition number could ask for. And there is no way to redo it into SP or LP, as skaters sometimes do.
I assume she changed it for Russian Nationals because of most of Russians attitude towards this song... such a smartie.
I liked it so much that I even wish she will keep it for the next season, and will have a lot of chances to perform it!

She did perform it at COR though.

As i recall she said she had a new EX for the GPF she was looking forward to using but then they asked Yulia to skate instead of her. Besides I like her 5th element one as well! She far and away was the best EX skater as both of hers were awesome.

He flip is not stable enough for her to use it in the SP, so she goes for a loop as her solo jump. Doing a 3R-3R would allow her to do a 3Z as her solo jump rather than a loop. A 3R+3R (10.2) with a solo 3Z (6.0) is worth 16.2 and a 3Z+3T (10.3) with a solo 3R (5.1) is worth 15.4. So it could give her a .8 base increase in her short. If it is consistent and comfortable (read not causing pain!) it probably is a good idea.

In the free, she could have all her combos be triples triples - which might be respected. The loop and the lutz are her repeated jumps in the FS anyway, so she could basically replace a 2T (1.3) with a 3R (5.1) that would be a 3.8 advantage. Right now she does a 3Lz+3T; 3R+1R+3S; 3Lz+2T which could be turned into a 3Lz+3T; 3Z+1Lo+3S; 3R+3R without too much monkeying around with layouts. Again if it is consistent and comfortable (no, I don't think the horse is dead so I am going to keep swinging away), it could be worth it for her.

I think that free skate layout you adviced will fail due to zayak rule.

You're right, there would be another loop later one she would have to change. I think i got confused and thought she was doing a 3R+2T rather than a 3Z+2T. I am really bad at this... part of why i spell it out - better chance of catching issues. You should see how much i delete when i do catch issues!

She could do a 2Z in place of the other 3R later on i guess. Or a 3Z+2T+2R rather than the half loop Sal sequence and just a solo Sal in place of the loop.

I do think that doing a two non sal triples triples of different types would get her some notice and respect though and might still be worth it...but as i have already gotten my math wrong once, I am not sure I want to try to confuse both myself and everyone else again.

No, it wouldn't be worth it. The judges don't call this combination very often. Being constantly downgraded stopped Mao and Miky Ando doing it. Even if she got only underrotated and not downgraded, it would be too risky to put there something that can frequently receive deduction. With the current marking system, triple loop as a second jump in combination just isn't a good idea.

Doing it in a manner that gets ratified is part of consistent in my eyes. If that means she does 3.25 rotations, so be it.

I don't see why TPTB would want to discourage this combo or the loop as a second jump in general so I don't see why it would get picked on if it was being done properly. I would agree that she would probably need a damn good 3R-3R to be worth it as I suspect it will get reviews. But if it is clearly rotated fully on review, then there is no harm in reviewing. Maybe I am just overly optimistic that it can be done properly and obviously properly... and that everyone will play fair.

Wow, that must have been some CD collection that it took them a whooping hour to listen to it. "The Best in Figure Skating" indeed.

Oh well I did like the Firebird so I suppose I'd clap ti another warhorse too.
