Anna Pogorilaya

Does anyone know why Anna isn't registered for a Challenger Series event? It looks like most of the other Russian girls are and I was getting worried what might be her motivation from staying out of them, especially in such an important season.

I'm hoping she's going to compete at Finlandia Trophy again this year...

Closing date for Finlandia entries is this Friday, so we'll probably find out in about a week...

Injury related, or so they say. Still I'd like to finally see her programs, or at least hear what they are about. Should be public knowledge by now so any news on that?

My hope is that Skate Canada is still nearly 2 months away, Skate America even further. She should heal and rest while she can and not injure herself further in Senior B's and testskates. Honestly, though, these news fill me with dread and I think I know where this will end. We won't see her at the Olympics.

I really wanted to see Anna's new programs but she didn't want to risk further injury it seems. And seriously I don't want to believe in all the talk about her not being able to land even a 3T. As we can see from the short clip shared before, she looks strong. I love Anna so much and hope that everything will be fine for her. The scores and placements really mean nothing. But at least I want to see her beautiful and strong skate at the olympics. What I think is that she really deserved to live olympic dream, because she always made it to the Euros and Worlds in the previous 4 years. And I think in the end, she wil live it. I believe in the justice of universe and more than that I believe in Anna!

I think it's too early to start panicking... She still have one month till her first GP so she has plenty of time to get ready. Judges and audience love her. If she shows good skating at GP circle, she will be fine.

What is Spain supposed to mean? The national anthem? Or what? Whatever it is, I trust in Camerlengo. I also love Swan Lake, but Morozov can be hit or miss.

I also find it hard to believe that she lost all her jumps in a few months, has mental issues NOW when she skated perfectly well in shows after her disastrous Worlds. Anna was even forcing herself to smile just minutes after her LP in Helsinki. Idk, I just don't believe that she's completely out of shape and at a dark place right now. And even if she doesn't go to the Olympics, she still has chances to medal at Euros or Worlds. Let's see.

my only big wish is that Anna herself would believe in that huge amount of adoration, praise and support she gets from outside and then make it in more self-confidence and sureness - sometimes, I get that impression that she's getting too far inside her head to the point of being lost, unsure and doubtful over what she does. I hope that hard work, determination, willingness and care put on her body and mind will show as season progresses.

Regardless if she has her jumps or not, if she's putting an effort and fight for her programs and herself - that's all what matters to me. She has to learn that results - good or bad - are important, but they are not defining you once and for all, same goes to rumours spread by people. She has to push forward in her own pace, regardless what others are saying about her chances comparing her constantly to fellow Russian skaters - yes, results are comparable, but skaters individually are very different and specific, one formula does not work for all.

Hope that Morozov will come with solid Swan Lake like he did for Elena/Nikita 4 years ago, as for cryptic 'Spain' SP - my hope is for Flamenco

Anna's program to Anna Karenina from Fantasy on Ice, Makuhari 2017: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asmYtsSckaA

First time seeing I really loved this!! I guess it's the first time somebody shared it on youtube.

WOW! Pure theatre on ice. You really need to be a great actress to pull that off. I have been underwhelmed with a lot of gala programs recently - so many seem to just be throwaways without much thought or effort, but this was wonderful. Did Morozov really choreograph it?

I couldn't remember who choreographed it so I went to the previous pages to look for it. And it looks like Anna did not announce the choreographer of this program ever. It was wrongly supposed to be her FS by many of the folk back then. Now we know that her FS is Swan Lake and that's the only program announced to be choreographed by Morozov.

I watched Anna's 2016 Nationals FS to Schecherazade last night. Liked the program more and more. I have a question. Did Anna work with Kudriavtsev back then? I remember she was still having a tough time during GPs. Then with the nationals she began to rise like a phoenix in that season. It was recently said that Anna will work with him. I hope she will get the same mental power this time too.

Anna posted that the choreographer for her Anna Karenina program is Viktor Adoniev in her instagram.

It's a poignant program! The choreography is right to the point, and Anna really conveys the emotions through her skating and acting instead of just miming. I also love details such as her veil that matches the final scene in the film https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gClqXAnP_7k and her choker necklace shown in the photo, though not in the video, because in the ballet of the same title, Anna Karenina also wears a choker necklace. https://youtu.be/_Ev60t-dhS4?t=1h20m34s

She seems to really love this program as she promoted it twice on her instagram and even put the link to the video on her profile! I feel like in case her Swan Lake LP does not work out(so many Swan Lakes this season...), she can definitely turn this program to a competitive one!

Thanks for the clarification! I remember seeing that post but I can't understand Russian.. That's why I missed that information I guess.

There are very nice details indeed and Anna is really enjoying this program. Is this the first program Adoniev choreographed for her? The guy is talented. She may think about giving a chance to him for competitive programs. And I agree this is a good piece of work that may be used as a plan B for Olympics.

Adoniev found the music of Modigliani for her last year's LP, and I was really impressed with that. He often posts clips of him skating or his choreography for young kids on his instagram, and I agree that he is very musical and has good taste. There was one piece that he was dancing to music from Kama Sutra A Tale of Love, and I thought it could be an interesting program for Anna as the music is very sensual and unique influenced by the Indian classical music!
