Anna Shcherbakova

I didn't find anything in the official rules that would fully explain this situation. According to the rules, she can compete both at MS and at CMS levels.
I had to search for unofficial information (an insider) - the RusFed opposes participation in the one Cup competition more than 2 representatives from one sport school. The decision which of the three A should send to CMS level was made without presence of this insider. Perhaps the choice fell on Anna just because she's already participated in the Cup at MS level.

Thanks a lot for this info :thank:

I was really hoping to witness this amazing 3A showdown this week, but on the other hand this change makes me wait for the JGPF even more (if that's possible :eeking:). Everything will be decided on the big JGPF scene, we will wait breathless for the outcome. It will be legendary :yahoo:

Sad to hear the 3xA competition is postponed to JGP :(

Can you do a 3A SP in both levels? Or is it like junior/senior with the ladies?

If not, then they might just be giving Alena more chance to compete it.

Content of junior ladies short program for 2018-2019:
a) Double Axel Paulsen;
b) Double or triple Flip jump;
c) Jump combination consisting of two double jumps or one double and one triple jump or two triple jumps;
d) Flying camel spin;
e) Layback / sideways leaning spin or sit spin without change of foot;
f) Spin combination with only one change of foot;
g) Step sequence fully utilizing the ice surface.

(junior men are allowed to do 3A in short, btw)

Hmmm, that's a bit disappointing.. maybe there was not enough spot or something.. or they don't want Anna to compete against Trusova before JGPF, who knows..

I agree with you... cause when three girls compete together, the rank of 1.2.3 will be clear, not just the medals, the rank of them in judges' thought will clear. I still think anna want to be the first; even it is hard.

So regulations are the same in the cup (with CMS and MS but competing like 'junior/senior')? Thank you.

Everybody will compare their performances anyways. I guess we can just check the BV they will compete sucessfully (I'm excited!! Guess Anna will keep her 2 4lz layout?) and draw our own conclusions... Or just wait until gpf zzzzzz

Yes. it's like junior/senior
MS name for seniors. - qualification to Senior Nationals
CMS name for juniors. - qualification to Junior Nationals.

In that case does that mean that Anna is still unqualified for Senior Nationals given that she participated only in one MS competition of required two? 0_0

no. she have already qualified for both Senior and Junior Nationals.
This competition is like a practice for Anna.
Doesn't really matter in which levels she will compete.

It's not really convincing explanation considering how many there were cases of 3 or more Panova's (Snow Leopards school) skaters participating in one comp - as far as I remember at least.

1. but there is no such rule at all :) (in documents both of RusFed and Ministry of Sport), RusFed just tries to prevent it
2. did Panova' girls had 100% chances to sweep the podium?
3. the source is very-very close to Sambo-70
4. this is the only answer I've been able to get

Main reason is most likely this. I mean they are trying to make more chances for other girls.. or, more specifically - trying to pull Gubanova to qualify for RusNat :think: I am not sure I would be too surprised to see if they would try to put her even above Kostornaya there. Meanwhile..

Anastasia Obodets (one of rather unknown skater in junior category in Russia Cup comp who will be skating together with Scherbakova) posts her reaction about the news. Translation:
"When you saw you participate in one category with Scherbakova" "What?" "I am sorry, I am in shock" :laugh:
It's pleasant to see that she is that famous already among her peers :biggrin:

I'm inclined to think so, too.

RusFed and sport schools have to find a compromise. RusFed wants to give everyone a more equal chance. Schools want to save on expenses, when the competitions involve travel to other cities - regardless of parental involvement, the school must send at least 1 oficial representative (for example Rozanov from Sambo-70) and all related costs are paid by the school. Less stages your students visit, less money you pay.

Oh, one crash landing. 3Lz+3Lo failed on the 2nd jump.
We know she may do better...
Anna finished second down to 0.32 point.
Not a big deal.
