Anna Shcherbakova

Someone wanted to see her natural smile.. Shayuki, as I recall? Receive, sign :agree:
Great to see! It's been a while since I could say I've seen her smiling naturally, without holding back or anything. Glad to see that she can do it, after all!

She's so good! Sometimes you might notice she's not entirely sure about what she's supposed to do next but the quality she does everything with is incredible. Hopefully they keep these coming!

Daniil Gleykhengauz: "Your athletes should be certain that you're their rock"

For example, we have skaters who know how to work with their face, with eye contact; they have connection with the audience, with judges.

Like Zhenia, for example?

Like Zhenia, like Alena Kostornaia, like Anna Shcherbakova. In this case you can build your choreography on this communication, create a dialogue.

In our group we have Alexandra Trusova and Anna Shcherbakova who jump quads. But we have others who are not ready yet and we don't start training those jumps with them. Also with these girls it was a very long process, at some point you notice that this certain athlete has enough height in his/her jump, so now it's a matter of faster rotation. First you try it with the jump harness, to make it more safe. Also they have these very thick, padded pants so that it will hurt less when they fall. Also, to avoid injury the number of tries you do during one practice should be limited. You need to make sure that the athlete is still "fresh", not tired, then the risk of injury is lower.
But in general in our sport, unfortunately, you can get injured out of nowhere. Even Anya Shcherbakova who started landing quads got injured during a triple-double-double combination, during the last double loop.

Anna skates her SP second, on Tuesday at 17.30 Moscow Time - live stream on Studio38 youtube channel.
Top opponents: Trusova, Tarakanova, Kanysheva, Vasilieva (is podium real?).

Good luck, Anya! :hap10::cheer2::hap10:

So far, so good, first place after the first group.. yay! Trusova is unreachable at the moment but Tarakanova will have to do better than at the nationals, where her FP was quite messy... and Kanysheva didn't seem to be in the best shape today... we'll see about the second group...

Great performance for her! I hope for the best in the free skate.

There's a real chance for a podium finish! And a slight outside chance for even a victory.

But what is the importance of this competition anyway? Can there be any influence on Anna's participation in JGP?

Definitely, yes.
It's a cup final, where there are invitations rather than cup stages qualifiers - this alone is telling much about the importance of the tourney. It reminds me the test skates, just with scoring and placements.

Gorgeous skate! I hope she will get even better and manage to return her quad with time. I have this wild dream that one day there will be a skater lady with natural artistry who finally brings all the technical stuff to break the system. :handw:

I can't believe it.
She has never broken 200 and this field... :dbana:

Two months ago we were wondering, if we even see her competing this season!
What did I just watch?
