Anna Shcherbakova

She had a great skate today! I'd say it was the best time she's performed this SP. She was more musical than ever before, switched out all her tanos for rippons, and had the loudest audience applause out of any of the girls. She even had to come back to the ice after she left because she had to pick up a gift that someone had thrown on the ice for her (none of the other girls have received anything from the crowd). That's how much the audience loves her. She looked happy afterwards - as she should, with a performance like that.

70.19 (41.19+29.00)! I believe that's the highest she's gotten for her SP this season. Well done!

She's leading after the short. Kostyuk is second, Sinitsyna is third, Nugumanova is fourth, Tarusina is fifth, Kanysheva is sixth, and Chistyakova is seventh.

I liked her tano better though.. I mean tano jumps looks more balletic after all - and her programs are very balletic for me. Hm, maybe they heard that judges are not very fond of tano jumps now..

I think her jumps look beautiful with either variation, but I took the rippons as an improvement because most people find them harder as compared to tanos. Besides, some FS 'fans' tend to hate on skaters who do tanos with the overhead arm bent (like Anna does), and I don't want that to happen to her.

She still looks very balletic! In fact, in Anna's case, her rippon looks closer to fifth position than her tano does to third/fourth position, so she looks like even more of a ballerina to me now. I guess it's all subjective! :)

She was flying over the ice today.
The landings were the best, I've ever seen from her: beautiful, controlled poses and lines, perfection. :drama:

I was so happy to see her have a good skate! Looked really good, probably the best I've seen her perform this program. Especially the jumps I really liked. Still! I'd like to see her go back to the transitions she had at first... I hope they can in fact improve the program even further with a healthy off-season.

I liked her tanos, but I liked the rippons as well. I overall prefer Rippons though so I really didn't mind.

Landings were amazing as mentioned, especially the Axel! Furthermore, the way she was able to have that exit out of the -3T even with such a lack of momentum going into the jump is exactly why I think she has some formidable potential when it comes to skating skills in the future. That isn't something just anyone is able to do! I'm sure after she gains a little bit more in jump height these are going to become even better.

Aah, very eager and hopeful when it comes to her FS today. And then just a long, healthy off-season and something truly incredible next season.

Don't you guys think her speed increased as well?

At least it was better result than at the qualifiers.. ;) I think she must be very tired after the injury and the long season.. never mind, despite the injury, Anna even managed to beat Trusova this season and she can be much stronger next season! :cheer::cheer2::cheer:

Yeah, all in all... this season still was better than I'd have expected going into it, although I really would have liked her to have some more security. Well, nothing to do except to have a fantastic off season and come back stronger than ever for the next season. And hopefully fully recovered by then.

It simply must have been a bad day and lack of proper pre-season athletic preparations (she was injuried early in the summer). At her current physical state, she is probably unable to deliver many consecutive great skates after long period off the ice. She'll have whole off-season to improve power and consistency. No biggie. :agree:

It's as if she is teaching him... Just unbelievable. I hope they give her new choreography that can show her real dancing talent. Thy lyrical themes are not good enough for her. :hpull:
I'm starting to think so as well. I love her free, it's just she has such a great amplitude and freedom of movement, which is not necessary showcased there. I don't know, "Dreamcatcher" is really fine though... :drama:

Pocahontas was not very lyrical.. ;) It would be interesting if both SP and FP were very different to show the scope of her talent..

I like both of her current programmes, she flies along with the music. It's only after I have seen a couple of her dancing videos, however, that I realized that those programmes don't show all of her potential, especially the moves with her hands.

PS

Pocahontas was not very lyrical...

No, it wasn't. I found the choreo intresting and unusual, but she had to show "stiff" hands all the time, which is the opposite to her talent.

It would be interesting if both SP and FP were very different to show the scope of her talent.

Totally agree on this :agree:
