Anna Shcherbakova

Not to mention if she lands a victory.. ;) Anyway, it sure will be an interesting confrontation..

Looks to be competing at Russia Cup event 2 this weekend, senior category.

Would be a good time for a clean quad Lutz! :agree:

I have a question,
Does that mean they will let her compete at Russian Nationals on the Senior level? Or is this something the federation will have to decide later?

She's already qualified by making the JGPF and she's already 14 so I can't see them letting her not.

She should be competing at both senior as well as junior nationals.

I'm very curious to see the senior versions of her programs! Especially the FS.

Landing one in competition = landing one in competition, ISU or not.

Absolutely not. ISU ratifies only elements and scores achieved during ISU events. Even more the ISU decides what to ratify and what not even if properly done.

Kafka-style example: the ISU bio of Zagitova states she's a silver medalist of 2018 Olympics Team event and gracefully omits the fact she also won another little medal on same Olympics.

Landing one in competition = landing one in competition, ISU or not - Is what I said. I didn't mention a thing about "ratifying elements". Never did I suggest that Russia Cup was an ISU event, either. How can it be so difficult to understand? What are you arguing against? Certainly nothing that I've said. Landing one in competition and it being "ratified" are different things. I didn't say that it would be "ratified", I said I hope she lands one in competition. It doesn't even matter how the judges call it. Landing it is what's important. To me.

That part about Zagitova's profile has nothing to do with anything.

I follow Alina‘s fanfest pretty intensively and we‘ve had this discussion about her ISU bio a million times there already. They did not omit the fact that she‘s the Olympic Champion.

The section above is where they list all her placements in major competitions. Worlds, Europeans, Olympics, everything is there. The section where the Olympic Silver Medal is listed is intended for additional info such as her looking up to Carolina Kostner or her father being a hockey player. Because the Team Event isn‘t added above they put the Team Silver there. No conspiracy at all. Fairly logical actually.

I don‘t have any idea what this has to do with Anna‘s quad, however. It‘s true that ISU won‘t “accept“ quads landed in training or competitions such as the Russian Cup but it frankly doesn’t matter. If she lands one in even a minor national competition such as one of the Russian Cup events, she will get the confidence to land it in international competitions, too. It‘s a smart strategy because a lot of things in figure skating are related to nerves. Anna CAN land this 4Lz, even in combo as we‘ve seen her do in training. She needs to bring it to competition and I think she will eventually.

Daniil is apparently at Russian Cup, so WHEN Anya wins, we'll get more cute pictures of Anya and her medal from him :luv17:

Hopefully Anna will have a clean skate today, then she should win easily.. there isn't anyone who can seriously threaten her.. :cheer:

Hopefully! I thought Daria might be her main competition, but Anna's nearly 20 points ahead right now, so ruling out a disaster Anna should be safe.

Anna skates last today.

I thought so too but.. better not comment on that.. it would be against the rules anyway.. ;)

The best for the last, unfortunately I won't be able to watch today, will catch up tomorrow.. go Anna! :cheer::pray::cheer:

I turned on the livestream hoping to see a choreo sequence. I got to see a choreo sequence, yes...after a 4Lz+3T and then a 4Lz right after, both fully rotated with no falls.

I think I may be in shock. (FS score 159.43, total score 227.27, by the way).

She was truly amazing but the 2nd 4Lz looked like UR to me.

Her FS TES was above 90 points.
