Anna Shcherbakova

2 more quads would mean 15 points additional BV (I think?)
So with 81-83 in SP and with 15 additional points in BV and additional GOE would place Anna way over 180, around 185-187. That’s with 72 PCS she got, which are not her highest PCS.
Anna is very likely to compete on equal grounds with Kami for medals, if she gets to 3 quads. That’s the only question, is whether she can get there by Olympics.

I hope to see both compete at their best there (if both make it).

I’m not surprised at what we saw tonight.

When the chips are down, when it’s do or die, when it’s now or never, when it’s sink or swim, that’s when Anna shines brightest.

Anna is the most clutch, big game skater on earth. You can teach quads, spins, steps and choreo, but you can’t teach mental toughness nor guts.

Yeah, people got worried about her 3Lz-3Lo because she made a similar mistake as at Test Skates. But she actually had troubles with rotating the Lutz, it was barely rotated, that's why she didn't have the right position for the loop. Even if she had planned a 3Lz-3T, it wouldn't have helped her in that situation. Actually, it was crazy that she saved her jumping pass by adding a 2T.

As we saw in the FS, when the lutz is fine, she is still able to pull out the combination, and this is the most important thing, because besides her quad(s), the 3Lz-3Lo is her winning combination for both the SP and FP.

From the interview Anna gave in Italy:

Anna Shcherbakova cannot be described in one word. On the ice, she is both an easy girl with air skating and a confident fighter who is not afraid of any circumstances. A similar situation in interviews. Shcherbakova easily combines politeness and intelligence with firm convictions and a clear ability to answer questions correctly.

Sport24 correspondent Konstantin Lesik, together with a colleague from another publication, was lucky to talk to Shcherbakova after her performance in the demonstration at the Italian Grand Prix. They talked about almost everything: quadruple jumps, Turin gold, popularity, parachute jump, world championships, favorite programs in the history of figure skating, joint training with Yulia Lipnitskaya and much more.
